Green Room - Week 3 - Day 8

The school year is ending. It’s time for everyone to get together and have assignments where we read the half of the textbook that we never actually got around to covering during the year. Not to worry though, I doubt that it’s anything all that important! We can fit it in between ice cream socials and yearbook signing parties!

Then, we will let you loose for the summer, and you can bother your parents instead! Now they will have to come up with ways of keeping you occupied during the day!

It’s funny though, because the school year is ending, but LJ Idol: Exhibit B is just starting to pick up steam! There is a poll going on, http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/659933.html and an ice cream social, that only I am invited to attend. Feel free to pass around your yearbooks though.

I remember one year I signed everybody's yearbooks with selections from Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey. You could do things like that back then without getting arrested.

Looking back, I signed quite a few with mentions of what happened between us, a little person and a Saint Bernard. I really wonder what they think when they read it years later! ;)

The goal of yearbook parties, IIRC, was to get the highest number of people to sign your yearbook, and not just your class -- everybody in the school. Except for freshmen. They didn't count :p

(This was easily accomplished, btw, in a school with less than 300 students. Everybody already knew each other, so if you couldn't get everyone's pithy words of wisdom, obviously something was wrong with YOU. Ah, high school.)

Anyway yes, I agree with this list and especially favoritebean. She was my partner, peeps! She got me to write a story in which no one dies or ends up suffering eternal dark torment! Do you know how much of an accomplishment that is? Also her side of the story is awesome!

We didn't really have signing parties, you just passed them around before class to the people you cared about. And then tried to find a non-awkward moment to ask that really gorgeous guy who was two years ahead of you if he'd sign yours. That last part was just me, and bless him, despite my being so pathetic, he was always really kind to me.

My older girl spent time after school gazing at her crushes photo.
He is in the same grade. Luckily he was not in any of her classes this year. She got much better grades then last year when he was in the same classes.

HEH. My final project of my Master's program just kicked off. I have to learn things from three years' worth of classes that I barely paid attention to! Thankfully, I'm going through this program in the easiest way possible. I'm not too stressed about it.

Well the two middle schools did but that's only because the new state of the art consolodated school will open its doors in August.
Today the spawn is home until school starts again.

I have just been out for the hugest night. And it is getting weird - the big bosses are trying to find a boyfriend for me... ostensibly so I can learn Japanese, but I am not so sure that is the best way.

I don't even remember my high school yearbooks. I still have them in a box in the basement and I've never looked at them once. I graduated high school in 1994.

Last season in Idol, one of the only decent things I produced during hell week was a nonfiction entry about my summer camp yearbooks. This is especially hilarious because I suck at nonfiction.

Anyway, the best thing anyone ever wrote in my summer camp yearbook was this:
"Try to put some of this place in a cup and drink some every so often in the real world."

Just got out of a doctor appointment, have been thoroughly poked, prided, and juiced. Have to get an ultrasound and bloodwork tomorrow morning, whee.

I'm nervous. I read. A lot. I always have. But lately it's getting harder without holding the Nook two feet from my face. But at the same time, I can't see stuff far away either. LOL

Eye exam today. Nervous. Nervous. Nervous.

Oh, and I trashed all of my yearbooks. They weren't people I cared much about. I was a bullied kid so I didn't have many signatures and most of the ones I did have were kind of mean.

The kids are out of school as of yesterday, but since school starts again on Aug. 12 and my daughter has eaten up 1/2 the summer with a volunteer summer camp couseling job, our window of "able to go anywhere" or other planning is already in trouble. HATE the school's schedule. August is when you want to be gone from Sacramento, not stuck there!
