Btw – we are now in June, which is the month when the US Supreme Court is going to be ruling on two cases that have to do with “same sex marriage”, or as I like to call it, “marriage”. So make sure to put those equal signs back up to get ahead of the rest of the internet who will suddenly remember that they cared enough about the issue to change their profile picture for a whole week!

The Court session ends this month. Which means all decisions need to be made, and released, by the end of it. Conference Days - when they hammer things out in chambers and decide who is going to write what decisions are on the 6th, 13th and 20th. Decisions are usually released shortly after that. I imagine that they have already voted, and the opinions are being written (those tend to take some time)

This is just my opinion - but I imagine that they would release those particular opinions on the last day that they can. Release them and get the heck out of there. Regardless of the decision, that seems to be the most practical move.

Pretty much anything that gets to SCOTUS is going to have a huge impact - but this also has a socially charged media frenzy element to it.

My best friend is on an archaeological dig in Israel this month (she's a rising college senior, majoring in stuff like earth science and archaelogy), digging up ancient seeds. If you're friends with me on here - that would be why scribal_goddess hasn't been leaving her usual comments on every entry I post. Which feels like a huge hole in my heart, and I really really really miss her. She won't be coming home until July 4th.

Anyway. She managed to get online and send me a message today!!!! Oh wow, I was so excited and happy and OMG when I got the notification!

She says that she misses me too, and that when she gets home she will play Sims instead of Minecraft because being on the dig is like a full immersion IRL version of Minecraft. Also she says that she does not understand hipsters.

Also I love her really a lot, and I miss her so much, and I didn't realize how attached to her I am until she went away.

We had yummy German food for dinner last night, in honor of my housemate's birthday. I got to do some poll-reading in the car on the way up (it was about a 70 minute drive to get to the restaurant), but I still have bunches more to go.

Tonight we are having a friend over for supper and to get caught up on Game of Thrones, which we got sadly behind on when our TV went out, then further behind when we kept having Other Things to do. I think we've only watched the first episode from this season... yeah... we should get at least 3-4 episodes watched tonight. Phew.

I'm nervous about the Supreme Court ruling, because I'm afraid it will go the wrong way. The chickenshit "avoid definitive ruling" route would be almost as bad.

I so hope they do the right thing here, but with making corporations 'people' and the religious leanings of several justices ("We totally vote with religious bias! But claim we don't!"), it's all just nail-biting territory at this point. Keeping my fingers crossed...

Cleaning out my classroom for the end of the year, and I just stomped the shit out of what I'm about 98% sure was a brown recluse. I'm not remotely aracnophobic, but I'm most definitely skin-rotting-and-falling-off phobic, and now I'm a little freaked out at the idea of going through the rest of my cabinet.

Also, the idiots who are wanking it up over the Cheerios commercial - probably the same morons who flipped out over the same sex parents JC Penney's commercials - just need to be thrown into an arena with their counterparts on the opposite end of the spectrum (the ones who go postal on a regular basis because nothing's ever politically correct enough for them) while the rest of us sit back and make popcorn.
