As of my last count, we had 73 people signed up for this season - 1 more than was here last season. We've officially set a new record, and there are still a bunch more folks who have stated an interest. It's going to be interesting to see where this ends up number wise and what sort of impact that has on the game. On top of the journal writing aspect, this is a VERY social based game (you know, being based in a social networking community!) so that sort of bunching of folk is going to be fascinating - especially as the numbers start to dwindle.

So who brought the food this morning? I'm starving...

Oh yeah, I guess I did... I picked up a little something on my way in to work. Dig in - and have a great day!

Throwing a game related thought out there - just because it came up last season and I want to clarify this before we get started this time around.

The game is part writing and part strategy. It's very much a reality show. Some folk say "popularity contest" but that will probably just get me on your throat.*g* It's really no more of a popularity contest than any other part of life, or writing for that matter. It's a VERY social related game. I set it up that way on purpose, because it's LJ! LJ is a social networking tool, among other things.

There are as many ways to play this game as there are people who play it.

Everyone is going to come to the table with their own style of writing, and their own style of game play. I'll regulate to make sure no one actually *cheats* by creating a bunch of new accounts or plagarism or... well, you know, the big things.

But some people had their feelings hurt last season because they had an idea that how they were playing was how everyone was playing... there's no real "good" or "bad" way to play. I will say however that all 3 winners thus far have one thing in common - they were kind to those they were competing against and even when things heated up, they didn't take it personally.

I would imagine that at some point there'd be too many people on LJ idol. I mean, you'd be pretty overwhelmed if there were 500 people and had to read everyone's articles and keeping up with people's progression.

in an attempt to share the lj idol love around the world i've taken on the charge of organising an "lj idol bake and swap" (i use the term bake loosely!)

you don't have to be playing lj idol to participate and send some lj idol inspiration to someone! it's all about making new friends and learning more about the world you live in and how awesome people can be... not to mention COOKIES!!!

bascially it's for all those interested - sign up by emailing me your name and postal address (i won't share with anyone but your baking buddy - scouts honour!!!) at gnomeangel@livejournal.com

you'll be matched with a random partner. then all you have to do is send cookies (whether you made them or not is up to you - but be mindful of the fact that you're posting them and they may go off in transit, etc.) and words of inspiration and encouragement to your baking buddy.

THE RULES (stolen in part from marvelousmail)
1_all packages must be sent out by the due date, with ONE WEEK grace, if you cannot send it out, you MUST email me letting me know why. otherwise a strike will go against you and that may affect your vote getting!!!

2_all received packages MUST be posted in the lj idol green room. if you don't have a camera, that's fine, but you still need to post saying that you got it, so that your partner and me know it was received

2.5_you need to email me at gnomeangel@livejournal.com to say when you've sent out your pacakge

3_if a package gets lost in the mail, that's understandable... you may want to think about a way to deal with this if it does happen...

4_when you send your package out, try to get the Tracking option, [sometimes you can't, that's ok] and if it's overseas please try and opt for the Airmail as opposed to Surface mail which takes alot longer, but it's up to you.

4.5_make sure that what's in your package is ALLLOWED in the country you're sending it to. don't bake with anything "funny"!!!

5_if there are any problems you need to email me WELL before the due date so that I can help you.

6_if you move, i need to know your new address!
