Feeling much better today!

Dreamed a dream that begs to be written and is actually relevant to my trilogy. At least, it builds on how my world came to be, why the laws are there, how it all started, what a certain pandemic was like, why it happened, WHEN it happened.

Of course, the dream started out as a House/Wilson fic idea where Wilson gets sick and House refuses to follow all of the protocol going into treating anyone with the particular disease in all his Housey glory, but hey. I can just take them out and still use the images and feel of the dream.

I'm still to answer responses to LAST night's GR, so I shouldn't be here at all.

Right now I'm making lemon icing for my cake. Just played a few rounds of rummy and 21 with M, soon will finish another draft of my idol piece to send to my partner, while drinking tea and eating cake. S is beside himself, because he gets to stay up late! His bedtime isn't for another ten minutes... oh, the excitement!!

I think... I think I have offically started to feel comfortable here! it only took me 8 months. But I have friends I see regularly, work is going stressfully (somehow I miscalculated the amount of samples I would need, and I have 3000 to analyse, and can only do 20 a day, 40 if I do a super long day) so I am going to rethink what to do there!

June is an awesome month for me! although I am going to be computerless for 10 days, so not quite sure how to manage that yet... we shall see my pretties.

And although I have an awesome intersection partner... I am struggling. Boo to difficulties in writing. Their idea was wonderful, and I haven't quite nailed it yet!

My partner and I are still plugging along with our entries. They're the kind of topics that are meant to throw off a lot of people. I finally came to that conclusion last night. Yes, I'm slow ;)

Day 3 of Oppressive Heatwave here. Broke down and finally put on the A/C last night. Do 2 Italian ices constitute a meal?

We're meeting a potential canine family member later this morning. Earlier in the week our vet called to say that she'd just done an intake for one of our local shelter/rescues, and one of them was a beautiful husky boy, 2 years old, clean bill of health. He was found as a stray, but obviously had a family because he's been trained. So...let's see if Miss Ember likes him, and if she does...

Good Morning Green Room!

I might be doing better... hard to tell because I just woke up. My hope, though, is that I can start to function like a human again. I'm so tired of being in bed!

I'm also working on my entry. Was wanting to write poetry, but decided that what with being sick, that probably wasn't going to work out for me. So, prose it is.

Now to scavenge for breakfast and say hello to my awesome little girl. (Hardly seen her the past few days, left her dada and grandparents in charge, because I didn't want her to catch what I've had).

I too could use more sleep but sometimes the Sleep Gods just don't agree. On the plus side we are meeting up with friends at Panera for breakfast, then I think off to church with them. I'm really not the churchy type but this one has an excellent band and a very cool and personable pastor - and comfy theater style seating too! The chairs have cup holders! Anyway, I mostly like going there as long as it isn't too often!

I just got up, after a late evening last night (we were going to BBQ but ended up just hanging out together), and we might end up doing the BBQ today if it gets hot and the cloud burns off.

But it's finally starting to feel like summer. I love living by the sea, but I really wish it were the Med instead.

I've got a nasty cold thing brewing in my chest. Didn't do any writing yesterday, just vegged out on the couch and marathoned movies all night. Might try again today. The thing is, I'm meant to start at a new location of my restaurant chain on Tuesday, and I'd feel awful to call out on my first day. :( I just don't know. I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Driving 3 hours to spend time with my birth daughter, her adoptive parents, and her son (my grandson) for his 2nd birthday. Should be... Interesting. It's the first time my husband and son will meet the parents. Will spend about 3 hours there, then make the 3 hour drive home. Should be a ridiculously uncomfortable return on my time investment. Lol
Fortunately, I'm not the one driving, so I can spend the 6 hours of drive time pulling my hair out over this week's entry.

No major plans at the moment. Traveling for business next week, so it'll be one of those long slapdash sort of experiences where I'm perpetual-motion jet-lagged, juggling a laptop in one hand and a cocktail in the other. I'll have to type my next entry with my toes.

OMG GUYS GUESS WHAT?

WE HAZ NEW PUPPY!!!



He's a 2-year old Siberian Husky who was found as a stray, but obviously had had a home, given that he knows his basic commands and such. Animal Control in the town in which he was found made every effort to find his family without success. He was scheduled to be put down, but one of our local rescue groups stepped in and moved him to foster care. This all happened within the last 2-3 weeks.

The rescue organization uses our vet as their intake vet, which is how we found out about him earlier in the week. They were calling him Nanook, but he wasn't responding to it.

So anyway, we met with his foster mother this morning and met him -- I must remind him of somebody because he automatically decided I was his BFF -- and he and Ember met (she's been grumbly with him all day, which is normal given the age difference), and the next thing we knew he jumped right into the back of the Jeep and was like, "So...are we going?

We have to get him a special harness so I can walk him, but other than that -- he's such a good boy and HAS NO NAME. Until I thought of "Max", which he seems to like since he's responding to it...?

Right now he and Ember are both plumb passed out on either side of my chair. The A/C is on high. I just might pass out myself!

School is nearly out for the summer. Once they come home on the 5th they are home till August.
