Green Room - Week 3 - Day 2

therealljidolSomeone ran a red light this morning, and had to slam on their brakes and swerve to avoid hitting me as I was crossing the street.
Which is how I know it wasn’t anyone who had ever participated in Idol. You would have sped up.
I did, however, have a moment where my life flashed before my eyes – and had to ask myself some serious Life Questions. Such as “Have I ruined enough people’s lives recently?”, “How can I do more to torment Idolers?” and of course, “Who are these kids and what are they doing on my lawn?”
I need to do more to address these important issues, but for now, I’ll stick to the new topic(s) http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/658082.html

Date: 2013-05-31 02:57 pm (UTC)I once got run down by a dude on a motorbike as I was getting off a bus many years ago. He, alas, was passing the bus on the right hand side, and was obviously not expecting the doors to open and have someone be getting off the bus at that very instant as he was illegally passing it!
Knocked us both down, fortunately I only got some scrapes and bruises. It could have been a lot worse!
My partner and I are currently working on our entries - she's got a pretty awesome first draft going; I've yet to write mine, but hopefully I'll get a draft to her later today. :)

Also, I took her daughter aside last weekend - which was *supposed* to be the time I was proposing, and talked to her about it. I decided to be old fashioned, with a new twist, and ask her for her blessing. Considering that she's *the* most important person in her Mother's life, and who was about to have her life changed, I wanted her to be included in the decision.
She burst out with a huge smile and ran into my arms with a huge hug.
So, yeah, this is happening....

Date: 2013-05-31 04:09 pm (UTC)This morning I whacked weeds with a weedwhacker, and it was surprisingly fun. Lawn people are supposed to be coming and helping to tame the jungle that is my front yard into some semblance of order (but not just a monoculture green grass thing because ugh, that just depresses me), but rain has delayed them until next week. And the weeds were getting impressive. My neighbors were starting to give me those significant looks and I swear, some of those weeds looked a little inclined to eat people.

We had to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting her and I felt our front bumper brush her back bumper. It wasn't until then that she started moving. Idiot.
It just happened to be on my birthday while we were on the way to breakfast with our youngest daughter in the car (then 2 or 3). I couldn't stop shaking through the whole meal.
We actually had someone pull up next to us at the next light to tell us the lady was insane and that was some fancy driving. He had been right behind us and had to swerve to avoid us and was shocked we didn't hit her.
