I saw it mentioned yesterday that everyone is at the same party, but not everyone speaks at the same volume.

That’s why my only method of communication is yelling into a megaphone.

“But Gary,” you say, “ that was a metaphor for the culture of Privilege!”

At least that’s what I imagine you are saying. I wasn’t really listening. I can only really make out some sort of pops and buzzes when you open your mouth. Occasionally there is a word or two that sounds like ‘Merican. But less in the “I understand you” and more of the “look at those adorable little foreigners trying to speak a Real Language! It’s precious”.

What I *do* know though is that the polls are closing tonight, and there is a lot on the line. http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/656952.html "People" (tm) are being eliminated! Which means that if someone isn’t getting the love you think they deserve, it’s time to speak up about it.

Granted, I won’t be paying attention to you or your blah-blah, but who knows – maybe someone else will!

Stomach is still all screwed. Yesterday was a complete bust, as I mostly lay around feeling miserable (or asleep) the entire day. Though I did re-read half of Fight Club? I'm doing voice research right now, because voice is a thing I care about.

I'm thinking I might start writing a thing today. This is a Big Fucking Deal to me. :)

I was so sleep-deprived last night. Didn't get a ton of sleep, but I feel more awake right now. Am at work, trying to get caught up on replying to comments as much as I can in between doing work things.

Today's big news - our grocery store was torn down and rebuilt, and the new building is opening today. It's all new and fancy and two stories, with a Starbucks and seating area on the second floor.

Also it's really really close to June, and I find out the results of the Ploughshares Emerging Writers contest in June. *crosses fingers for her Seth baby*

Oh man, guys, my week. Let me tell you of it.

On Monday I went for my call center training. That job is NOT going to work out for me. I didn't realize how much of a commute it really is, and combined with some pretty wacky policies on the company's part, I said "thanks but no thanks."

Of course, the restaurant I was working at before I quit for the call center hired three new girls, but there's another location that's even closer to me that is hiring. I'm going there today. I also sent in a resume for an admin assistant job at a cemetery on my town's bus line that pays $12 an hour, only asks for 30 hours a week and includes benefits. Fingers crossed for that one!

Yesterday, on my way to the train station to go see about the other location, I dropped my phone and the glass shattered. $150 later and I've got a new phone, but replacing it took up much of my afternoon.

I've also got my permit test on Saturday that I haven't even started studying for yet, Idol, and I just started an online stats class! How did my life get so busy?

I don't necessarily talk quietly at a party, metaphorical or not, but I talk *less*. Which I suppose has the same net effect.

Almost got into a car wreck yesterday, through no fault of my own. Pickup truck barreling through a parking lot nearly t-boned me. We both slammed on our brakes and I swear the nose of the truck wound up maybe a couple feet away from the driver's side of my car. Where I was. I spent the next few hours totally freaked out. Is that an over-reaction? I feel silly dwelling on something that *almost* happened.

I did not get nearly enough sleep last night. I think I fell asleep around 2:00AM, and woke up earlier than usual, around 7:00 AM. My alarm is set for 7:45, which still wouldn't have been quite enough sleep, but that extra 45 minutes... ugh.

Which is why I used 15 minutes of comp time this morning to fetch a Starbucks Venti Skinny Triple Mocha (for those who don't know, a "triple" in this case means an extra shot of espresso added in).

I've got about 20 more entries to read, then I will be casting my votes. W00t!

Well, I returned to work yesterday and soldiered through it relatively OK. I collapsed when I got home. I know I shouldn't be too hard on myself because after all it was the first day, but I can't seem to shake it. Yes, I am Queen Of Being Too Hard On One's Self :p

If you honestly can't read everything, I think the most moral thing to do would be to vary who you do read every week, and to vote for everyone whose entries you didn't read, so they don't lose out on votes and get eliminated based on nothing but other people's time constraints.

Spent four hours in the ER last night with my son and the psych ward. Not fun.

Weather today matches my mood, which is to say CRAPPY. RL is stressing me out to the point I'm feeling nauseous. To add to the equation, I'm about 80% sure that this weather will cause a rainout for my softball game tonight - Fourth rainout in 8 days. That's not the reason for my irritation, but hitting a ball is often a great way to get frustration out.

I'd be struggling to read all of these by a Thursday deadline as it is (I can only read ahead once my entry as done, and that doesn't always go as well as I'd like). :( :(

My apologies in advance to the two smaller groups-- I likely will be giving it all I have (at work!) to finish the larger group for voting. I can't vote in a group where I haven't read anything, so it's likely to be my strategy to skip the other groups.

I hate that. Everyone has worked hard on their entries, and I don't like not giving everyone the attention they deserve. :(
