I had fun with it! Looking forward to future intersections, which is just weird for me.

I haven't read a ton - not sure I've gotten through a third of the entries - but it seems like there's a whole lot of fiction and not much non-fiction. Is that because of the intersection? It does seem easier to make fiction entries relate to each other. Or is that ratio of fiction/nonfiction typical now?

I noticed that too, and yeah - fiction is much easier for intersections than non-fiction, I would assume.

But then I prefer writing fiction myself, so I don't mind. :)

The styes in my eyes have gotten worse. I'm getting off work at 3 today to go home and rest: I had an hour of comp time and I'm taking an hour of sick time, too. 5 hours to go, and 1 of them is a lunch break. I can do that, right? No problem ...

I've enjoyed the intersection as it made me write fiction, normally I tend to stick in the non-fiction end of the pool.

I had a blast, but then of course I would - my partner is an AWESOME person who is full of WIN, and we already knew that we work very well together. :)

I guess if I learned anything new this time around....what impressed me was that my awesome friend partner person took my wild and crazy idea and toned it down to something workable and that might appeal to people who don't live inside my brain. Haha - you should have seen my initial messages to her, all the ALL CAPS and EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!! and the "the protagonist was not expecting THIS HORRIBLE THING to happen!!!!"

And she made this whole world, but then that's how we roll. She creates gorgeous worlds, I people them with larger than life characters who wreak much havoc and beautiful destruction.

I guess the biggest thing that I learned was to be grateful to Idol for introducing me to people who are really awsesome and who I love a lot.

Also we might just write a book of intersections together now! What do you think about that?! :)

I liked how my partner gave me all this imagery to work with and took me to a place of mystery and darkness, so that my entry kind of wrote itself after simmering on a slow burn for a few hours.

this was my first intersection within the game, and I had so much fun!

my partner was hugely enthusiastic, and ran with an idea that I thought was awesome, and she did so brilliantly!

I've learend that time zones are a bitch, but it is fun to collaborate and bounce ideas off of each other and see where it takes us! Awesome co-writer (copyright1983) is Awesome! :)

I think what was cool about the intersection was getting to read several drafts of my partner's work--including one complete overhaul that forced me to change where my entry was going... for the better. Our biggest challenge, I think, was maybe taking too long to get our shit together. But, it worked out, so it wasn't such a bad thing. Writing with a partner when you've got a lot going on off-line is extra challenging.

I've skimmed a couple entries as they showed up on my friends list, but I haven't really read anything yet. I'm looking forward to it, though. I've heard there's a lot of good stuff. And, I'll be interested to see how people decided to approach the intersection. I know which techniques of intersection I like best and think make for the strongest entries--but I'm also interested to see if I end up surprised with other approaches.

Time is always a huge factor for me with intersections; it's tough enough to do my own thing in the allotted time when I'm juggling "life"! There is one entry in particular from the last round that I wrote on my phone at the dinner table about 45 minutes before deadline...

I was panicked at the idea of having to work with someone but I ended up having a lot of fun. :D It's especially fun if you work with someone with a completely different writing style and try to figure out how it can intersect.

There are a lot of awesome entries out there. I'm enjoying the shift to fiction that seems to be taking place.

I had fun with the intersection. I love how my partner took what I came up with and added a whole different vibe to it, expanding the world and the idea.

The time zone difference was a challenge to work around, but I got a Skype account out of the deal. (is slow to teh interwebz stuffeths)

Live Journal being down gave me a good reason not to leave my entries for this mini-season to the last minute. The extension was nice, but I was in a complete panic before I knew about it and couldn't get my entry posted before the deadline.

Since Game Night didn't go so well last night, I'm thinking that we should start a little earlier. Maybe we'll get to the servers before they get overloaded. So, I hope that 7 EDT works for at least somebody. If not, we've had CAH games go on for hours, so just join us whenever you're able.

1. Look for my username or any other familiar LJI person. I kept getting kicked last night, and since I had been the original room host, the ownership reverted to the next person on the list.

2. Password is always "ThanksGary".

3. I would really like to see Game Night become a nightly thing, and if not, a few times a week. We should make a schedule by figuring out what days and times are best for the majority. That way, anyone and everyone can make a room for LJ Idolers to just sort of wander in to if one doesn't exist yet.

Game Night is fun. We have a blast playing the game, and we have a lot of good conversations. I really started to open up to my fellow contestants from Exhibit A during Game Night. It's a great way to get to know each other.

I loved that my intersection partner, florencestoker prompted me to revisit my love for vampire lore. Back in college, I wrote a four-hour radio show called "In Search of the Vampire," which involved many hours of research and included sound bites from movies, dramatic readings, music and lots more. I still have the aircheck and am planning to digitize it, since I've always been very proud of that show. For years afterward, I checked out every vampire movie that came along, until... *shudder* "Twilight" sort of ruined it for me.

I have found that it's pretty fun reading the entries knowing there's another entry that goes along with it, and seeing how they connect. It almost makes it feel like there's half as much to read! Plus, so far, everyone's been really clever. Off the top of my head, I've really enjoyed joyfulfeather and meepalicious's intersection, I like how they took both "good" and "evil" but gave them the same tough reality to deal with. Both stood on their own very well, and were fantastically written.

It was fun getting to know someone new this time!

It was a bit of a last minute scramble (re: first deadline) and we had to get pointed at each other, but actually, it's worked really well. He did a great job with his half, and like I say, great to get to know him a little too.

I'm amazed at the way the creative process just took over, and allowed serendipity through. My initial brainstormed idea took on a totally different flair, as we realized we were totally equipped to write opposite sides of the story which ended up unfolding.

I saw the same thing happen with some other folks who didn't previously know each other as well.


My inner college/HS student still cringes and wants to hide when the idea of "group work" gets brought up, but in this case, it turned out OK. :)

Today I am doing the dumb things I gotta do, and getting the car serviced. I tried to do this yesterday, but it was crazy busy. Sigh. On the plus side, there's free wireless here and I brought my computer, so I have a chance to read more entries! Also, they have cookies. Mmmmm cookies.

I wouldn't be surprised if comments are a little thin on the ground this week - I know I'm going to be pressed for time just to read everything and vote in the time allotted. I hope to at least get back to all the things people have said to me. I hope to do more than that. We'll see...

Also, I am kind of whimpering in anticipation of this week's prompts. Holiday weekend. Girlfriend in town. The one convention I ever attend is happening and we've actually booked a room at the con, so I'll be guaranteed to be super busy. Plus other social stuff and the normal Gotta Do Life Stuff. Mrf...
