I've added an indicator on my spread sheet regarding whether or not I commented on a post in addition to whether or not I'm voting for it.

I am going to track that and see if I can increase my commenting percentage. I've never tracked it before.

I can tell you, however, that I've definitely increased my percentage, probably because I'm tracking it.

Unfortunately, I just haven't read that many posts yet. :p

So we're buying a new car, and we'll be bidding farewell to the car I learned to drive stick in. This is bittersweet, especially since I don't think my car choice will be the car we get.

Um, wasn't yesterday day 4? Or did I fall into some Groundhog Day trap where I'm destined to repeat May 10th over and over until I fix what I did wrong?

Anyway, I've got about 20 entries left to read. I started reading on the first day. I'd be done already but we were out all day today (or wouldn't that be yesterday?) then when we got home the kids wouldn't leave me alone for 5 seconds.

I probably won't get to them until Sunday now. Tomorrow it's supposed to be nice (Pacific Northwest) so we're going to head out to a state park and do some family stuff instead of fighting crowds on Mother's Day.

I'm only maybe four people into this, last night I came home and went to bed way super early -- I don't think it was even one -- so now I'm up in the middle of the night reading. (Seriously, it's like 6 here. O.O The sun's barely up!) Although I volunteered to take my mother out for ice cream today (yikes), so I should probably go back to bed so I'm well-rested.

haikus are great! as you know I post a few a week on my fb just snippets of my japan adventures, and except for my sisters who occasionally tell me they are terrible, they are a lot of fun for everyone. (somehow that become the Mr Squiggle theme...)

I'm just popping in temporarily. I'm not signing up this go around, in case that wasn't already obvious by the lack of me-being-here. ;) I'm really trying to knuckle down and finish working on my novel so I can get that out into the world before season 9 starts, or I won't be able to play then either. I even went as far as deactivating my Facebook account to stop procrastinating there. >.>

So far rather than editing the novel, though, I've been working with vaguelyclear on my book cover. By that I mean, I've been fiddling around and trying things out, then she'll give me suggestions to help me try and improve it. It's really helping me gain appreciation for the amount of work graphic designers do, trying to make sure the right fonts are used together, and the right colours and contrast are in place! But I'm really enjoying the process, and being more open to the constructive criticism. I think it's helping me grow a lot.

Anyway, good luck to all who are playing this mini-season! I'll try to pop in to read/comment if/when I have time.

Life has changed a lot for me since Idol s8. Mostly because I finally ovaried up (borrowing a phrase from medleymisty) and started therapy, took some pills, etc. It's nice to actually feel like a person sometimes. Also overwhelming.

I still haven't read almost any entries. Today, and this time I mean it. It's been hard to focus this week.

I am going to be frankly honest and say that.. I really feel undeserving of my status in in this poll. I know it's not an elimination one but even-so, I am surrounded by what I consider to be "LJ Idol" royalty. Seasoned writers who, by all rights, should be right up there along side me if not surpassing me. It's really odd for me at this point because I don't know anyone. I have always thought of LJ Idol to be as much of a popularity contest as it is a writing contest, so even though I am very thankful, I am also rather baffled at the moment.

Personally I am going to chalk this poll up as a fluke. Once the real topics start, that is when I will truly know where I stand. :P

Aside from that, sweeny_todd is but one of my many picks! I have more, but its shortly after 4 am and I have been awake so long that my days have started to blur together and I can't keep track. x.x

Apparently, we are not doing anything for mother's day except taking Kid #2 to a play date. Husband had a hard week - one of those special "hard weeks" that come about when you're a new ex-pat and don't know how to do anything and want to be at home eating bacon and watching reality TV - and so nothing got planned. On one hand, I'm sad about that. On the other hand, I'll be totally caught up on reading and commenting for this week 'cause there's nothing else to do and hey... we finally got wifi by the pool!

I'm doing most of my reading this weekend - sooo behind! Every time I think work is going to chill out and stop wasting every single free fucking moment of my time and drop of my energy, NOPE. Some other shit crops up. (And I feel totally justified in saying "waste of time and energy" when the issues in question are redundant paperwork, standardized test related crap, useless meetings, and mind-numbing "professional development" that develops not a damn thing on the professional front other than frustration and boredom.) PHEW, okay, there's my bitchy rant for the day!

Also, is anyone else having issues with LJ notifications?! I just checked my LJ inbox and realized I have four PMs from the past two days that I didn't even realize were there because I never got an email alert. I was also having comment notification issues on Thursday. Anybody else?

LJ crashed for almost forty minutes this morning before I gave up and got offline. It was working when I came back from frozen yogurt with my mom, so I dunno how long it was down.

I've been getting comment notifications, but some of them have been delayed -- I just got an LJ-inbox notification sometime in the wee hours of last night for a spam comment I deleted two days ago (I assume, I didn't have a deleted comment notification for it at the time, and there was a random one this morning). Most weeks I check my LJ inbox more often than I check my email, though, so I'm not the best person to compare notes on email notifications with.
