[Poll #1912889]
There are always those “first poll jitters” happening, even if everyone knows that Week 0 is more of a “test run” than something where anyone is going to be eliminated.
Heck, I spelled out that it was optional. But the vast majority of people did step up and posted an entry, introducing one of their fellow contestants! Which is awesome, and definitely not something that I was going to ignore.
Which is why there is a poll - not only to help work out any potential kinks (if you see a name missing or anything else wrong, please email me so that I can fix it for Week 1) but more importantly, so that you, and the person you introduced can get the exposure you deserve!
So make sure to take the time to read, comment, and vote for your favorites!
There just might be something “special” handed out, based on the results!
The poll will close Monday, May 13th at 9pm EDT
Good luck to everyone!
(oh, and yes, sign-ups ARE still open for a little longer! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/648417.html

(No, seriously, it's ok. Most people probably will not manage to comment on everything, or even most things, really. And *hugs* -- I remember how nervous I was the first few weeks!)

Date: 2013-05-10 08:34 am (UTC)I can't lie: the voting thing is what scared me away from LJ Idol for, oh idk, years. I mean, not the part where you have to read bunches of things and vote on them but the competition. I always get nervous when I have to be better than someone else instead of just being good enough. (Uhm, hello impostor syndrome?)
edit: Can someone explain to this newb (do people still say "newb"?) how the voting works? There are votes for non-entrants, is that normal?

Date: 2013-05-10 09:41 am (UTC)Anyway, you can vote on as many as you like. (And yes, you can vote for real on people who aren't "in" this round, but it won't count as an actual vote thing, none of us can get anything from this poll. But again, some people will do it, probably to avoid having to take any votes back. Except Gary, who traditionally votes for everyone regardless. There's usually two-three votes for the not-in-this-round people in any given poll, so I suspect someone besides Gary might be voting for everyone, but maybe not, seeing as it does vary a little bit.)
The single most important thing to remember is, if you edit your votes, re-check *everything* you want to vote on. LJ deletes your check marks when you edit, so if you edit to add a vote and don't re-check all the other votes you made, it will un-vote for those people.
Don't be too nervous -- this poll, no one gets eliminated. *hugs* It's a practice poll -- so remember, you can only have practice nervousness. ;)

Date: 2013-05-10 09:39 am (UTC)Looking at the time, it's late. Even the cats have gone to bed. Sooooooo, with that, I'm off too. Good night, everyone!
P.S. Apologies if any of my comments to entries were bizarre. I blame lack of sleep.

Date: 2013-05-10 11:15 pm (UTC)I see no one wrote about me. Understandable as I am a dull person raising three children, hand peaceing quilt squares and teaching myself tattooing while waiting for a day in court for dissability. Sure I could have peaced the squares and put them into quilts on a sewing machine by now but I like the cottongruity.
I don't really have room to paint right now and my asthma makes outdoors stuff unlikely. The epilepsy doesn't help.
I do enjoy the comunity and writing and hope to get some comments made.

Date: 2013-05-13 04:21 pm (UTC)I do apologize that I haven't read or commented (or replied to any comments on my LJ) on anything. This weekend was my chorus' annual competition in Gateshead so I've been a bit busy! I promise to read this week's entries though!!

Date: 2013-05-13 06:17 pm (UTC)Whew. I'll have to back down on the commenting in the next few rounds, in the hope that it'll take less time. But I think that's a fantasy-- primarily, it's really just the reading that slows me down. Yowza.
