As we wind down the mini-season, what have been some of your favorite entries/moments?

Again, I'm planning for Exhibit B right now, and this whole mini-season is a new thing for me. So I want to hear feedback. Have you gotten your - or someone else's- $5 out of the experience?
I'd like to think so! But you know how people are! ;)

Sleeping, hopefully. Spent 6 hours in the ER with my son last night. His head isn't as hard as I thought. Poor guy has a minor skull fracture and a concussion. He officially broke a bone at a younger age than his mother. His own kid better not pull this shit -- if he has his own kids, anyway.

I will be out at World Circus Day trying to offload some of the hoops I have left over from Brony Fest.

I definitely think I've gotten my $5 worth, I've enjoyed the smaller group and having more time to read everyone's stuff. I've found some really amazing writers here, maybe I'll attempt listing my favorites when I have more time. :)

It was definitely worth my $5 investment, I had a great time and made some new friends (especially audreybuttercup / tru2myart, and tatdatcm that I hope will be keepers!

I made chocolate chip pancakes earlier today; right now, hubby and I are going out for a late lunch to a Hawaiian food truck to get some Loco Moco (YUM). This evening is the Night Circus Gala, so I'm really looking forward to that!! Pics will be taken and posted to Facebook, and maybe to my journal too. W00t!

I have gotten a lot out of this mini season, and definitely more than $5 worth.

I don't know if it was the structure or size or the people involved or just the synchronicity of the timing in conjunction to the work I've done, but I am starting to feel more confident in my fiction writing. I feel like I turned a corner with my "Let Not Light See" post and last night I caught myself actually believing I might be writing a novel not just for my own brand of solitaire, but I might be writing a novel I can send to a publisher one day.

It's weird to hear myself thinking some things I've been thinking lately, and I hope I'm not just delusional, but people who love me seem to be happy about it, so I'm going to go with it. :)

I think I've been pretty open about how much I've enjoyed participating in this mini-season. :) It was most definitely worth it!

I'm spending the weekend in Nebraska where we have a small "vacation" home. It's in a small town in the Southwest corner of the state and is generally laid-back and peaceful. We're remodeling the kitchen - the first area in a bid to update and modernize the entire house - so we're busy constructing and then waiting for things to dry and set.

Just got back from a session of bowling at the local alley. I haven't bowled in a few years, but I was pretty much right within my average from back then when I bowled on leagues. It was a lot of fun.

I'm sure everyone on my FL is probably sick of me complaining about wonky joints, but man, these last few days have been circling hell for me. I used to laugh whenever a relative could forecast rain or snow just by the way his/her joints felt. Now I know exactly what they meant!

I don't want to say anything about what's been happening here until the rest of the story unfolds. I've seen some rather ugly posts on FB about it as well hearing some rather ugly RL talk. Instead of denouncing the perpetrators, we should be celebrating the work of the first responders and the police and FBI even more than we already are. The kid is still in serious condition. A little levity, please.

ANYWAY.

I really liked this mini season. I tend to be more a small-group type in that I like to get to know people and I like to have the opportunity to read/comment on everything rather than having to skim. I know people have definitely flourished through this set-up :points to kathrynrose as an example: As for me, I found myself becoming more...thoughtful, I guess? with what I wrote. It's a luxury you don't find in the regular season, and now that I've tasted it, I wish there was a way to bring that to the regular season.

*Definitely* got my money's worth! However, I was a wee bit disappointed with the lack of general fuckery- twists, turns, and special powers...where'd they go? Are you getting soft in your old age, Gary?? Okay, the "everyone's now back in the main game" thing was definitely an unexpected twist, and I admittedly loathed that one, but there were no other twists and hardly any powers, so I didn't get a chance to love any of them, simply by virtue of them not existing! During long seasons, the curveballs are incredibly nerve wracking because when you're out, it's months of work down the shitter and god knows how long before you can sign back up, but with mini-seasons, "out" isn't nearly so huge a deal. I'd think these pint-sized shindigs would be the ideal time for craziness, because getting bit in the ass by some manner of fuckery in a mini-season isn't near as evil a kick in the teeth as it would be in a long season, but you still get the fun, unpredictable element of chaos.

Overall, however, this has been a total blast, and I'm definitely looking forward to Exhibit B.

I enjoyed the "choose your topic" weeks. They made me think of the strategy behind song selection in American Idol--how do you choose? Do you pick something that will help you play to your strengths? Do you choose something that will help you get outside the box? But pick quickly!

We are starting Exhibit B fairly soon after Exhibit A ends. It's another "special mini-season". Our next regular season will most likely be starting in October.

PS: It remains to be seen whether the capture of said 19-year old madman was "successful" or not -- by last report he was physically in a bad way. Odds are he will survive, but it's not a sure thing...

PS: In my case, the question of whether of not I got my "$5 worth" of of the experience is moot. I didn't pony up $5 to "have an experience"; I ponied up $5 because I'm a hopeless romantic. So the fact that my participation in this mini-season was minimal wasn't a factor. I'm just glad that she said "Yes"...
