Green Room - Week 13 - Day 1
Apr. 19th, 2013 08:42 amGood morning, Idolers.
I read a comment this morning about how “one religion is prone to acts of terrorism” and I couldn’t agree more!
It is way past due that we, as a global society, take a good hard look at how to deal with the Irish Catholics!
That Thatcher is so weak on terrorism that she just sits back and allows her cities to be bombed on a regular basis!
We need to remove all the foreigners from the country, and the Irish Catholics, and then we will be safe! Right? Who’s with me???
Well, OK, technically, I’m going to remove you as well and then build a wall around my apartment/country to keep you from sneaking over to steal my jobs. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t also be with me on this one!

In other news – we had results last night, and sent two people home: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/644486.html
And a new topic, for the SEMI-FINALS: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/644678.html

Date: 2013-04-19 12:49 pm (UTC)We arrived safely in Illinois, despite: KFP spitting up all over himself during the first leg of the journey (fortunately, he'd refused breakfast and had only water, so it only involved a clothing change and he was ready to go); a two-hour rain delay in Detroit while we waited for our second plane; stormy skies on our way to Bloomington; nasty wet, windy weather as we arrived.
Today, we plan to hit a local Children's Science Museum before attending the wedding rehearsal.
And now I've typed so much I'm probably no longer first. :)

Date: 2013-04-19 04:43 pm (UTC)Our daughter was a flower girl at that age, and she did well with the tossing petals and getting up the aisle. Then she plunked herself down on the altar and spent the ceremony fricaseeing the contents of her flower basket and stage-whispering, "I'm making apple pie!"
Fortunately, the wedding couple knew what they were getting into. Because two really IS awfully young for this kind of 'assignment.' Good luck to you all!

Date: 2013-04-19 12:57 pm (UTC)It is just so, so surreal around here. I have friends on FB who are telling me not to leave the house, even though the action isn't in this end of town. I don't know how else to describe it...I guess the you could say it's the "this can't be happening" feeling.

Date: 2013-04-19 02:03 pm (UTC)I need to get my hair chopped off -- it's nearing the "going to hang like a wet sheet" stage. I've become very lazy when it comes to upkeep, though :p

Date: 2013-04-19 04:21 pm (UTC)One of my old coworkers comes from a country which is no stranger to civil war. When 9/11 happened, she was the only one who wasn't like most of us in our reaction to it. "It's different when you grow up in this kind of atmosphere," I remember her saying. "It's an everyday occurrence."
I can understand that on one level. On another level, I still can't conceive of living like that every single day.

Date: 2013-04-19 04:48 pm (UTC)We've gotten people who don't show up for appoints, and last week all I got was 4 random spam-seeking emails. Thank goodness craigslist went over to a double-blind system, where both sides of the messages are relayed.
ETA: Also made an appointment to get my eyes checked. It's been 8 years since the LASIK surgery, and things often seem crisp... except for street signs and projector slides in small font. I've gotten some astigmatism creep since the surgery. But mainly, MAINLY... that over-40 close-reading problem has kicked in. I've tried to push it off by not giving in, but that totally is not working. The NY Times crossword is murky, I tell you. I have to determine the numbers on the grid by reverse-calculation of the ones I can read. :( :( :(

Date: 2013-04-19 06:19 pm (UTC)I'm supposed to wear glasses all the time, but I don't. I have conceded, however, to wearing them whenever I'm reading or watching TV. I am NOT a fan of bifocals :p

Date: 2013-04-19 06:29 pm (UTC)" Speaking of quotes, and since I'm sure that you googled it, I didn't come up with the topics this season, so I googled it to see if it was a reference: "The only love worthy of a name is unconditional" - John Powell. "

Date: 2013-04-19 10:04 pm (UTC)I have a good friend who is a professional storyteller, and a fantastic game master, and therefore a seasoned world-builder, and today I spent two hours just bouncing thoughts back and forth about my novel and the things I've been stuck about.
