Dr Who?

Game of Thrones?

Walking Dead?

I know you have opinions about the new episodes! Granted, I've only seen the last one, and will be watching the others soon. But that doesn't mean that you can't discuss with each other! Just use Spoiler tags so everyone will know it's about Stephanie Brown!

Or, you talk about the poll: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/638700.html

What's been going on with you?

What has put the bee in your Easter bonnet?

edit to add: Fans of Romance, and Kindle, might want to check out the newest book from one of our own: http://astore.amazon.com/li0cd-20/detail/B00C2BXXKO

Frist?

I know nothing about any of those shows, so spoil away! (I know about Dr. Who, just not the recent episodes.)

There are no bees around here. I am bee-free. I guess I could lament my lack of Cadbury eggs, if I really wanted to nitpick.

I don't get Bbc America so I have not seen the latest Dr.Who - a show I have watched Spence I was little and always found comfert in as a child.
Love the walking dead but keep my discussion to the group deaddicated to it.
Have a new poem http://ashgaelsonaria.livejournal.com/261788.html

Do not watch the game of thrones and still have the last book(s) too read. I found myself dissatisfied with the legend of the seeker. Seriously - Richard having to be told that Zed was the Wizard Kaylen was looking for? Then having him give his magic to a sister of the dark? Fewy. Never mind taking out the woman rank being associated with hair lingth.
I can understand modifying some of the best scenes in the book as some people may have gotten prissy about Zed dissapating the mob by implying that he had magically altered certain gender spicific parts but they completely neutered Richard Cypher/Rahul. And they should have kept his relationships to the lord Rah

We are still one season behind on "Game of Thrones," but I did see the new "Dr. Who" on Sunday. Would you be surprised to learn that, geek that I am, I only recently got interested in "Dr. Who"? My husband thought we'd have fun watching it together, so I went along with it, and now I'm hooked!

I'd seen some of the older stuff, but starting with #10 (Eccleston) I really started getting into it more and more - much better plot, SFx, etc!

Hence, new icon!! (Like I needed another one, LOL)

(Also - had the edit the new icon, since the tiny print couldn't be read, so I just eliminated that part of it. However, underneath where it say The Doctors, it had originally said "bringing sexy back since 2005")

Of those I only watch Doctor Who. And only watched the latest episode last night. But I'm not someone who discusses spoilers!

I've been terribly busy, meeting some writers in person, doing Easter related things, and such. Today I managed to finish one of the short stories I'd been working on, so I feel somewhat accomplished for that. I think I might've got the motivation after reading the nice comments one of our artists from the fantasy noir anthology said about my story there. Seeing "beautifully written" from a stranger who has never encountered my writing before makes for a happy me!

I took a Game of Thrones quiz the other day and got a three-headed Mortal Kombat dragon. I have no idea wtf it meant, but the description sounded like "Slytherin asshat with a really bad temper", so I assumed it was accurate.

I haven't watched Doctor Who in probably 2-3 seasons now (I think the last season I watched was Matt Smith's first year). We don't get BBCA on our cable package. Back when we did I had it on 24/7 :sigh:

GoT -- we've caught a couple of episodes here and there On Demand, but truthfully we haven't been thrilled enough to play catch up or to keep watching. I admit that we probably saw a couple of "quieter" episodes. Still, though, it doesn't seem to be my cup of tea.

Walking Dead -- OMG, SO loves this show :headdesk: No offense to anyone else who loves it, but WTF?!? I've watched enough of it to know that zombie apocalypses are definitely NOT my thing.

Know what I've been slowly getting into? Dancing With The Stars, although I missed it last night. I saw The Voice the other night too. I'm waiting for the season premiere of Deadliest Catch (in 2 weeks!) and one-other-show-I-can't-think-of-at-the-moment...

OK - someone tell me what's cool about Dr. Who. I haven't seen an episode since I was 9 or 10 and I remember the production values being very low even for the time (like, even at that age I could see cardboard spaceship). What makes it all squee for everyone these days?

Date: 2013-04-02 01:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xo-kizzy-xo.livejournal.com
LOL, I remember those episodes!

It's one of those shows that I can't really describe. I'm not a sci-fi/fantasty person in general, but it's one of the very few shows that gripped me enough that I HAD to watch every single episode whenever possible. The canon is well-established -- just think, how many shows out there still endure after all these decades?

The fact that he regenerates leads itself to unlimited possibilities when it comes to plot and such. Sure, he's got The Usual Suspects when it comes to enemies, but they're not the only ones. There are backstories to backstories and multiple plot lines which (at least for me) haven't been too difficult to understand.

Then there's the writing. The more recent Doctor Whos have been blessed with some of the best scripts of any show. These were/are people already established in the sci-fi fantasy genre (much like how the old Twilight Zone was), which no doubt leads to the "believability" to every episode. They also don't forget humanity, which is something I find lacking more often than not in the genre. The Doctor may be otherworldly, but he's also a lot more like us than he realizes.

I LOVE Dr. Who! Unfortunately we don't have regular t.v. so I'm still on the first season that Matt Smith joined the cast because that's as far as Netflix goes right now. (That's not spoilery is it? Since it was publicly announced?)

I haven't watched Game of Thrones but I've heard it's good.

I watched the first episode of Walking Dead and hid under the covers. But I love the graphic novels. Go figure weirdo me.

Speaking of weirdo, I had an odd thought this morning. Anyone else notice that, as you age, you worry less about how good you look and more about how bad you smell? Or is that just me?

I don't know if that will get the Green Room talking but it sure made me think this morning as I was doing a smell check on myself.

I watched Dr. Who faithfully while David Tennant was the Doctor and loved it. I haven't really been able to get into it with Matt Smith.

I've seen Walking Dead, but don't watch it regularly. I really don't watch a lot of TV. Running joke is that I don't have any access to the remotes. All our TV's are in bedrooms and are usually occupied by the men in the house. Did I mention I'm the only female there? Makes life...interesting.

I am addicted to The Voice though. Probably cheesy, but Adam Levine makes me drool. So does Blake Shelton, but not as much. :)

I got into Dr. Who primarily starting with Eccleston, but David Tennant was more my style. I wasn't sure about Matt Smith at the very beginning, but he's adorable and really does grow on you!

I am also a fan of The Voice. Adam Levine is totally drool-worthy, and Usher is OMG adorable. Blake is sweet, and I'd love to meet him because he seems very down to earth, but he's not quite as droolicious as the others. =)

Still behind on The Walking Dead (because my husband wants to opt out of it, and all my free time seems to be devoted to Idol!)

We saw the first 2 episodes of GoT, S2, and stalled out. The treatment of women in the show just pisses me off (2x02 was softcore porn, and unnecessarily sleazy), and the level of violence is just disturbing. So, we may or may not keep watching. :(

No Dr Who! My introduction to that show was the cheesy versions that used to run on PBS, with the curly afro Doctor and the ridiculous production values and plots. I was thisClose to watching Torchwood until I discovered it was an anagram for Dr. Who and in a similar universe. But that could still change. John Barrowman is a huge draw, I'll admit. ;)

The rebirth of Dr. Who, while true to the story of the original series, is not the cheese fest the original series was. There is some silliness, but I'm not a fan of silly programs, and I love the new seasons.

In fact, a lot of the episodes are fairly dark and serious. And if you like a show that you have to think/puzzle about, the long story arc each season (or, overlapping seasons) is really good.

As for GoT, yeah, there's a lot of pornishness and violence, and I hear you about the women, but in Season 2 there is some serious strong-woman stuff. In fact, I read an article somewhere online where they were talking about how much more woman-powered the second season was.

It's still every bit as violent, though.

I watch all three shows, but I'm not caught up on TWD--have the entire season saved to dvr to watch all in one glorious go. I'm really not a zombie person, but the people-conflict of the show is what gets me to sit through the undead gore...

Quite enjoyed the season premieres of DW and GoT (although I'm getting a bit tired of Moffat's showrunning). Yeah television!

Sorry Gary, but I'm going to have to pull out of writing a story as a prize. I've just had a big project land in my lap and I simply don't have time at the moment to write something I don't get paid for. I know that comes across as being all up myself and I wish I had more time in the day but I'd rather not commit myself to something I know I won't be able to do for at least a year, if not more, and end up disappointing whoever it is that ended up with me as a prize.
