Hello Idol!

I’m working out the details on something pretty big, and unprecedented, in Idol history. If everything works out the way it should, you should see it later this week! (or as late as next week, but it’s coming, and it’s going to be pretty darn awesome!)

So, this is less of an announcement and more of a “an announcement is coming” post. But aren’t those just as exciting???

Speaking of exciting: Over the last couple of months, I’ve heard people mention that they wanted to pick up a copy of spydielives’s book, Welcome to River Street but just hadn’t gotten around to it! I have one, and actually enjoyed it. (although don’t tell her that I said that, I don’t want to ruin my rep!)

I don’t care what you do with them (although reading one is a good idea!) but if you want the opportunity to own one, the time to do so is running out!

He had a rally here on Saturday. I did manage to get pretty close, and then there was a rope line. So while not getting quite close enough to shake his hand (or pick him up in a bear hug) I was a lot closer than I would have ever imagined!

I bet Secret Service was having fits, having the Most Powerful Person in the World (me) next to the Second Most Powerful (him)... does the President have the power to make hundreds of people spend their time writing entries month after month? That's why he's not #1! :D)

My favorite part was seeing the different levels of Secret Service. Especially the "undercover" ones. (which, I have to assume there are *actual* undercover ones and ones that look like they are suppose to blend in, because those guys were not blending in *at all*! :D)

lol, I hadn't thought about it like that. It's been a while since the first time I left one of my babies with someone else ;)

What kind of editing are you talking? Because I already have i_17bingo editing, and he's a professional editor. I have asked for other people to offer other kinds of feedback as I go, but I'm not sure how many people would be willing to stick to my deadline now, with when I want it to be out.

Well, I'm not a professional, so I'm not sure what "kind" of editing you'd want/need.

What is your deadline, and how long is the current draft?

I had a bunch of questions on characters and connecting with the story, what seemed believable and didn't, that sort of thing. I sent the first 12 chapters to a bunch of people back in July but only two people actually read them, and I didn't get responses to the questions, just people who enjoyed it/couldn't stop reading. So I'm kind of hesitant to get anyone else on board now since I want to have the whole thing with fine editing done by the end of October at the latest. Jeremiah will probably need about two weeks to do the fine editing, which basically only gives me a month to fix up anything else that might need fixing before he does that side of thing. But I'm not prepared to send it to anyone else until he and my husband have read the end and given me feedback on that (I really have already been editing as I go, so anyone else who has read any of it has gotten edited pieces to read).

It's about 95,000 words.

I didn't do very much this weekend, but one thing I *did* do was made an awesomely delicious batch of cocoa-banana pancakes, and nommed them all! Bwa-ha-ha! :)

Teasers like this drive me crazy. Now I'll be sitting here wondering all week... And if it comes up next week, I'll be on vacation and could miss it due to shoddy rural internet access. Looking forward to it!

Our weekend was completely lazy. We totally lost several hours at a time, but I blame both of us being sick. Java and I seem to have gotten a stomach bug and we just took it easy. Which is good considering our vacation together next week and how much stuff we have going on.

I spent it not working. Instead we were cleaning up after a non-tornado ripped through my neighborhood and took down trees everywhere.

One bounced off another tree, barely nicked my roof and took out a section of my fence instead of my bedroom.

I managed to crawl out of bed sunday and did some laundry.
I spent time this past week with a killer flu that brought with it a head ache from hell. It felt like my head was going to explode AFTER the tylonal set in.

What I did this weekend was worry over the fact that I am apparently incapable of writing "Flash Fiction".

Of course, today I posted a piece of "Flash Fiction". (Technically I wrote *TWO* pieces, but I stole borrowed the plot for one of them, so I don't think it counts.)
