Green Room - Week 36 - Day 8
Aug. 3rd, 2012 12:03 amI was wondering if I should mention this during Week 36, or after - but since I know at least one person has already done the math, and I know how well these things tend to keep quiet... all season long, right from the beginning, I have been making references to the infamous Season 4, and the challenge that they faced.
I’ve called them legends. Because they are. They earned that distinction.
I’ve also said that I thought this season’s contestants can stand toe to toe with some of the best, and that this was an epic season.
These are all things that I’ve said many, many times over the course of the season.
I wasn’t saying those things at random. They were clues. :)
There’s another clue tucked away in this event as well, but I’m not going to reveal that one quite yet. No use in giving you too many “spoilers”. :)
With the new set of topics: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/594381.html there will be a new “benchmark of excellence” set.
Season 4 had 16 topics. You have a total of 17.
There were 4 of them. There were 8 of you when you set out on this particular quest.
There have been various numbers quoted over the years for how long they had. Memories vary. But what doesn’t is actually going back and looking for myself. They had the same amount of time as you have had.
Which means... if you want to beat that mark, as a personal challenge - have everything completed the day before the deadline! :) (technically, most of them finished up in the late night/wee hours of the morning on deadline day. But according to the time stamps, it was still technically “the day of”)
If you don’t want to do that there’s absolutely no shame in that. You’ve still completed one more entry!!
Which is amazing.
I full expect to be seeing the cheering sections from the cheap seats!! (or the expense seats, I don’t know where you people are sitting!!)
Not sure how much action will happen in the Work Room, but its there for those who need it:
http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/591795.html and, of course, there is still a lot of fun to be had in the Home Game:http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/592005.html
But, if you really want to show these incredible people some love - you can check out, and comment on, their entries! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/591554.html and http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/593207.html
Alao, please go check out my "better late than never" recognition of two legends in their own right, the newest members of our 100 Weeks Club! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/594580.html

Date: 2012-08-03 04:54 am (UTC)I figured you were going to do this. I totally called it. But you know what? Challenge accepted! It would take an act of God to keep me from fighting it out now. I have a few discarded ideas from the last round that I got too late to do anything with... This might be my chance to pull them out.
But no writing tonight. I met my friend,
She said she's glad she made plans with me before the topics were posted otherwise she knew I'd turn her down to write ;)

Date: 2012-08-03 05:06 am (UTC)If I was playing, I'd put myself through this writing too. Because how can you just quit at this point? But as I'm not... heh, yeah, there's a reason I'm not home gaming any of it ;) I did the six during hell week last season, in the home game, but that was a personal challenge to prove to myself I could've kept up if I hadn't been voted out. Since I didn't play this season, it wouldn't have been the same kind of challenge. 17 entries ON TOP of playing for 35 weeks? Yeah, didn't do that.
Just want to put that out there since I do plan on playing next season, and I'd love to get to this point in the game. ;) (Then watch Gary make next season less challenging. HAHAHAHAHA YEAH RIGHT NOT THE LAST SEASON EVER).

Date: 2012-08-03 05:49 am (UTC)So I'm digging it. It's hard, but I like the challenge.
And for the record, I'm very happy to be still left to have to go through this. I was so jealous of Java last season, and kept telling him to stop whining because I'd love to have made it far enough to be part of Hell Week. Well, now I'm here and it's even more brutal than last season. But I'm here :)

Date: 2012-08-03 05:15 am (UTC)What a challenge indeed. This is crazy.. but really fun in a sick, twisted way. It's definitely going to be a crazy, nutty fight to the finish, that's for sure.
And I am looking forward to being able to look at the noobs next season and say, "Y'know, back in MY day, we had to write fourteen thousand pieces in a week. You brats have it easy!" :-)

Also, I haz been annoyed. I finally can afford a subscription to my favorite magazine - which I have been a loyal reader from nearly its beginning (I missed a couple of issues to start) and it is not going to be published any more. They are continuing a related website but no longer publishing Bird Talk one more issue then I start getting Dog Fancy instead :(
I cry fowl on this..

Date: 2012-08-03 04:09 pm (UTC)I haven't read many entries yet, either, though I'm definitely not going to wait for the polls, given the number there are this week.
I have a LOT of reading to do. (we all have a LOT of reading to do)

I just read 18 entries, started reading a book, caught up on my f-list and emails, and fed the cats...
Meanwhile it's been dead in here. What gives?
