I saw the email for this GR and because it wouldn't load on my phone, I feared it was already more topics....

I'm walking Annabelle, I have a busy day today on top of writing. Vet visit for both my giant dog and cat (that's always fun) and then I have to sort stuff out with my lease so next months rent isn't $2,200 (the month-to-month rate, which surprisingly isn't that much more than my actual rent... Oh So Cal...).

I have 4 roughly started/written. An idea for the others though one I'm wavering on a bit. At first I wasn't sure how I'd manage but I worked fast last night and surprised myself with what I could put out while my roommate isn't home and Annabelle behaves herself!

Same thing happened to me on Friday! Java's 100 Week post went up, my phone went off all like "O HAY, NEW POST IN IDOL", I started cussing up a stoooooorm, then was just like "oh whoops, nvm ^_^;" ...and naturally, I was out having lunch with my mom at the time, who LAUGHED AT ME (so supportive!), and I'm sure the people at the table next to us were sitting there just like "who the hell is Gary and why is this crazy lady threatening to sell his internal organs on eBay?" Hey, what can I say! This competition makes everyone's lives more interesting. :P

I will be doing some writing this weekend, and possibly a date-night with my husband. :D It will be wonderful to get out of the house just the two of us. We haven't done that since May, lol.

In other news, I'm kinda tired. But there is delicious bread baking so I will have an awesome lunch, soon. :D

Just some honey wheat bread. I stopped buying sliced bread in the store once I got myself a breadmaker. I don't think I know how to function without it, anymore. :D

I am kinda failing at this writing thing. One draft done (but needs lots of tweaking), another started (but I dunno). Then there is the one that I wasted hours on yesterday and is completely unusable and pointless. How much does that suck?

I'd say try to work with your unusable one anyway? Maybe change the POV, or where you started it? I sometimes do that when I think it's not working. The entry everyone loved from me according to the appreciation meme, Narcissim, originally was an unusable idea. Then I changed POVs. And it became one of my favorite pieces to date. Just an idea since time is short!

I've been thinking about how to make it usable, but I honestly just don't see anything about it that has merit. There's very little plot, the dialogue is dumb... it's pretty much just epic fail? Right now, it just feels like anything I could do with it would be a complete rewrite that would take as long as just starting something new.

But I'm holding onto it anyway in case I figure out something I can do with it. Maybe eventually I'll see something in it.

Sometimes just minor edits can really help a piece - moving a paragraph around, rewording a few lines, even pruning out a paragraph or two can make writing that seems weak a bit stronger.

I'm trying to do ALL THE TOPIX despite being in the Home Game. I already have two posted (Pinnacle and Waking Dream), but now I am stuck like a thing that is stuck. I kinda-sorta have an idea for Tumbler, but I'm unsure if it's incomprehensibly stupid or not. I'm attempting to stretch myself and write a story with actual romantic feelings in it, which is something I hardly ever do. Speaking of there not being any love, there's rarely love in my universes, so yeah. I need to work on that! But it's haaaaaard. My brain is romantically deficient. /whine

I feel a bit stuck, myself, but I've completed three of the six. I want to finish all six first, put them all up on LJ, and then organize the links. Because I can't really post them as I'm writing, they need to be posted all at once.

Love is hard to do when your brain just doesn't comprehend it. Which is perfectly fine! Romance doesn't have to be in everything. ;)

I had a friend actually comment to me about how my writing seemed weirdly devoid of romance. In the Gemma 'verse, there's supposed to be romance in the future, so eventually I'm going to have to figure out how to make it work. At the very moment, though, my brain isn't feeling it for my standalone story. It doesn't help I've never really had a positive romantic relationship. I was challenged by another Idoler to writing something more romantic this week, and I don't want to fail that challenge. I'm hoping giving my brain a break from the story fragment I wrote might help.

Having a positive romantic relationship probably would help, but it's not 100% necessary, either. ;) You and pixie are good friends, her relationship with Java is rather solid and awesome. If you ever need help with that, I'd ask her, haha.

Writing what you're not used to writing is a great way to stretch your abilities. I hope it works out for you. :D

Last two shows at the Winnipeg Fringe! And then, because it saved money and we have the time, I go from Winnipeg to Ottawa (which is north of upstate NY, east of Buffalo) by driving to Minneapolis, flying to ORLANDO, then connecting through Detroit to Ottawa.

5000 miles closer to Platinum! And possibly a Mall of America visit!

I'm CLEANING ALL THE THINGS this weekend. Also, getting ridiculously interrupted sleep at night, so I'm thinking a nap is in order. We'll see. I was a busy bee yesterday and baked brownies and orange cake, so I think I get some time off for sleeping :)

The Olympics are awesome! Because in the middle of the night when I'm getting up, I have interesting things to watch!

This weekend is batshit insaaaaaane. Got a bunch of shite to do in Potter Fandom Land tomorrow night (tonight, technically? Whatever! Sunday night, that's what I mean), trying to pound out my entries for Clusterfuck Week, also attempting to figure out whether the opening ceremony for the Olympics was cool, stupid, or just a really bad acid trip.

I'm starting to get sleepy but am not quite there yet. Am debating having a glass of wine to fix this. That is all.

I'm flying by while on vacation, and this is the first extended period of Internet Access I've had since Friday morning. It's not just my Dad's house that's Internet-free, but Eugene has few Internet cafes in that part of town either.

I'm afraid I most likely won't be reading anything for this round, so don't feel bad if you don't see any comments from me. I might have squeezed in 8, possibly even 16 entries, but not 48. There's just too little time and too little Internet, and I've put my family off enough these last many months. :0
