There is this meme I’ve seen going around saying: “For All the Guys Who Complain That Women Don’t Come With an Instruction Manual: FOUND ONE” with a picture of 50 Shades of Grey/ any number of the “men do this/women do this” BS that just propagates this mindlessness.

And then there was the video of the guy on Glenn Beck going around screaming about the President paraphrasing Truman.

I read the comments on the second one and honestly feel like I’ve lost several IQ points.

When I read yahoo, I suspect most of them are trolls. When I read things like attacking various fact check organizations, includng snopes, I have to wonder if I’m not just fooling myself.

I get forwards in my work email all the time - not just political stuff, but “household tips” that seem to be completely wrong. So I look them up - and sure enough, they aren’t based on anything remotely credible.

So you tell people that those sources are the ones who are wrong - that you can indeed have this miraculous sounding result, and if you don’t, then maybe you did it wrong... but then when actual news comes along - and they try to correct the idiocy coming out of some talking head’s mouth - well, you’ve already convinced those in your sphere to just ignore them.

It’s brilliant really, and it’s amazing how many people actually believe them - or don’t do their own thinking, who don’t have the innate curiosity to go out there and look at information and process it.

Then again, I shouldn’t be surprised.

After all, you can find out all you need to know about women from 50 Shades of Grey, and all men are assholes. I read it online.

I would go check it out somewhere. But that’s all biased garbage.

There are days when I seriously worry about humanity.

Is there a limit to how many times a person can receive immunity from the jury? Can they receive it in consecutive weeks?

I can answer this, as I am on the Jury. ;)

We can only give a person immunity once. If they've had it before, they can't have it again.

I have two more polls to go.

Am I right in thinking that beldarzfixon and yachiru are the only two people still competing who have received immunity? They are both in that turtle poll.

Man, I don't even know, honestly. I am not looking forward to figuring out those polls on Thursday. And just glancing at them now is terrifying -- and I'm not even in anymore!

Tell me about it. It could go in so many different directions. You guys ( the jury) could have so much power to dictate the Top 10.... I dunno. That's scary.

But I am trying to be fair and not just blithely give Gary names of my favorites. It's the Top 10, I'm taking my power and responsibility really seriously. ;)

That's awesome. I've had very little Jury time, but I'd take it seriously too. Especially with who has had it, how the polls are laid out, no one is really safe except maybe one person (but I still wouldn't count on that even).

It's just crazy. Thank you for taking it seriously instead of just tossing a few names in!

Yeah, the way these polls are laid out, it's going to get very hairy for everyone, I think.

As the numbers get smaller, it's getting harder and harder to choose the names. Mostly because I want to give him all the names.
