Results - Week 33
Jul. 12th, 2012 09:54 pmThe results are going to be dramatic enough to deserve a cut-line of their own cut-line. But I’ll skip it. I think people can keep from scrolling down while I explain.
All of the results are sad. Of course they are. By now, everyone left is an old friend of the competition and has made their mark on everyone else left standing - not to even get into their fans.
The first poll is pretty straight forward, but creates complications that add to the situation in the second. As do the immunities - yes, I said “immunities”. The Jury handed out one for each poll - which would good for saving someone for Week 33.
The two contestants who the Jury have decided to grant the Immunity to this round are:
beldarzfixon and
yachiru
Congratulations to both of you!
Pay attention to those names though - They come into play in the second poll.
So, let us start with the first set of result - one of the two newest of the newbies, Ole Second Chance Sim herself and someone who has helped make Idol as Family Tradition.
Goodbye to
medleymisty
and
myrna_bird
Now for the second poll - this is where it gets a little less straight-forward:
You can’t eliminate the same person twice - so with two eliminations pending, you have to pass over the lowest vote getter... and go to the second lowest..
Which means we are losing the One and Only
kickthehobbit
There is one more contestant going, so we go up one more rung - and end up with someone else who was just eliminated in the first poll. So we can’t go there... the next TWO lowest both have immunity, so they, by definition, can not be eliminated...
Which leads us to
imafarmgirl, who is one vote ahead of
lrig_rorrim and thus subject to elimination... i even typed out a fairly nice goodbye to that hippie... except then I checked, just to make sure, and there was one vote in the mix that stood out. From a new account, created to vote with no other identifying marks to it to prove identity That vote would impact the results. So, even if it turns out to be complete legit, just someone who didn't think to notify me - it's suspect enough that I don't want to end either of these awesome writer's run over it just yet!
So, instead of allowing that to happen - I’m throwing them into their own cage match duel/run-off next week. Because if someone’s Idol run is going to end, it shouldn’t be like that. You folks have worked far too long and hard for one person who got a little excited to sway things.
For those of you who ARE leaving: Thank you so much to all of you. I hope you have had as much fun in Idol as I have had harassing you this season!
Welcome to the Jury, and your chance to help figure out where this season is going to land!

Date: 2012-07-13 02:09 am (UTC)I don't think I fully understand this yet. I need a flow chart or something.
none of it is easy, for sure.
And thanks, Gary, for taking the vote so seriously and chasing down who's who, etc. People don't realize what all you do behind the scenes.

Date: 2012-07-13 02:13 am (UTC)I'm hoping ol' Zed doesn't take it personally; he has been a valuable member of the team so far, and I've always appreciated his contributions. =)

Date: 2012-07-13 02:16 am (UTC)I figured out that the blank name is Beldar? Congrats to the writers getting immunity! I'm very excited that they both get to stick around.
For the hard part now...

Date: 2012-07-13 02:21 am (UTC)Actually - in September the next Sims expansion packs comes out, and it's going to have zombies. So I am planning to do a participatory zombie apocalypse story with it. I'll post a beginning on my journal, and then people can suggest things for the character to do in the comments and I'll incorporate their suggestions into the next chapter. It's kind of a like a multi-user interactive choose your own adventure. AND I'm going to preorder the expansion pack, so it'll have special Plants vs Zombie content like pea shooters to put outside the houses to defend against zombies and special outfits and hats for the zombies. :)
Err - anyone who is reading this who hasn't friended me yet and wants to, either to participate in the future interactive story in a few months or just to hang out and chill, please feel free to do so. :)
Anyway. Yeah. I was ready to go, but that was just personal burn out and also health issues. I LOVE Idol, and I will still be hanging around and still reading stuff and also maybe doing a home game entry here and there if I feel inspired. And of course I'll be back next season! :)
*hugs* Thank you so much. You and Java were the first two people to really notice me and take me under your wings when I showed up, and I so appreciate that. You guys rock! :)

Date: 2012-07-13 02:18 am (UTC)Medleymisty I'm really sad to see go, and I've greatly enjoyed the output by Myrna-Bird and KickTheHobbit. Take a break, guys, you've earned it! (Unless you'd like to play Home Game this week, in which case, I look forward to reading y'all again)

Date: 2012-07-13 02:28 am (UTC)I am rather inspired by the topics, but if I do anything with them it won't be done by Monday. I want to go back to my usual style of spending hours researching and trying to recreate what my characters are doing IRL and taking eight hours to edit a paragraph if I want! ;)
But if I do it, you'll see it on your f-list. :)

Date: 2012-07-13 02:40 am (UTC)thanks to everyone who read and supported me. I'll homegame if I have the chance, but I wouldn't count on it—I, uh, was granted new duties at the conference I was at today. :D

Date: 2012-07-13 03:12 am (UTC)2012 has been an awesome year because at the very tail end of 2011 I stumbled across this community.
Thank you. For being my friends, for reading my work, for being awesome people who I like a lot. I still have a few friends in the Sims community, and just yesterday on Yahoo I was telling one of them about Idol and showing them stuff that you guys had written, and they said "I like these friends you've been making in Idol."
You guys brought light and health and happiness back to my life, and I cannot thank you enough for that. You're kind, you're supportive, you're open, you're friendly. And you understand having a passion for writing and you understand that it's art, and you don't judge me for being so in love with it and in love with writing my Seth. You let me be me, and you don't judge and hate on me because I'm weird.
Thank you.
And Gary, man - you've got a ton of good karma coming your way, for creating this space where so many of us have found friends and confidence and support and strength. Thank you, times infinity plus one. :)
Anyone who wants to friend me can. I don't do filters and very few of my posts are f-locked, and I tend to post about my life and about whatever I'm theorizing about at the moment (I just finished reading How to Suppress Women's Writing by Joanna Russ and have a lot I want to say about that now) and also I will keep posting poetry and fiction and maybe even Sims stories.
This has been a wonderful experience, and I've grown so much. And I will be back next season.
*group hug*

Date: 2012-07-13 03:21 am (UTC)couldn't get on here till now.
I will post something of substance and link it once I collect my thoughts tomorrow maybe. They are scattered over quite a range of emotions at the moment.
I am not going anywhere.
This is life. Things change and we go with the flow. I have a new role now. I will be reading and spurring you all on and getting a say in the jury! Let the games continue!

Date: 2012-07-14 02:45 am (UTC)Hope to fight my way back to lj and see how it all works out. So much that is worthwhile and inspiring has come to me through being involved with idol. Great writers, interesting people, stirring and confronting conversations, new ideas have been forced upon me, brilliant and good for an old brain. I will never be sorry I took that one step to try. Thanks Gary, thanks everyone and good luck to those left.
