I was reading an article about a debate on Affirmative Action at the University of Wisconsin, and in it, they brought up this case:

Having read it, I find myself deeply, deeply disturbed about the implications:

Venom ISN’T “the black Spider-man”! (that would be Donald Glover)

He’s an alien symbiote!

Maybe it wasn’t racist, but rather a specific hatred of Venom! I know that I, personally, have never been fond of the character! I’m pretty sure that hanging wouldn’t do anything to him though, he’d just slip out of it!

So, these “frat boys” weren’t too intelligent about going about trying to get rid of him. I guess there weren’t any bell towers around!

It’s not until these sorts of things are addressed that we will truly have an equal society where we… what’s that? Oh, that wasn’t the point? Nevermind… carry on…

I've never known any frat boys IRL, although my mother tells me one of my uncles was a hippie. He got old and got a government job, though. ;)

I'm going back to bed. I just wanted to pop my head in and say "hi".

I feel guilty about it, but I'm taking an unpaid sick day at work (I don't have sick days built up yet). I feel like death and I'm so very exhausted. My head thing was bothering me all weekend, I had stomach aches yesterday and last night. And I can't keep my eyes open today.

I think I have teh sick. You may want to stay very far away from me today.

*covers mouth to prevent infecting the GR*

Though send good thoughts to my tiny little hometown? They were struck by storms on Saturday and a girl I know through other people was killed by debris. She had two young kids, including a newborn. Homes were destroyed, businesses were destroyed, power lines were down. It was ugly. My family is fine thankfully, but it hit close to home and it's put me on edge a bit.

Okay, back to bed I go!

Aw, feel better soon. Please don't breathe on me, though! Yesterday and today were the first days in over 2 weeks that I haven't felt crappy. Now my husband has it. Super fun times!

Not such a fan of spiderdork. But I do know that venom and carnage are parasitically organisms that absorb their hosts not symbiotic.
A symbiotic organism would not take over.
Venom did however breafly inject a backbone into Peter Parker. For a short bit the character actually started to get interesting.
I do have a son who likes spiderman. Corse he is autistic, adhd and such.

More disturbing that the hanging doll(to me anyway) is the fact that there is a website called "Racism Daily". Seems to me, and maybe I'm just naive or unaware, that a site like that would have to search hard to have a daily racist incident to report on, and may be trying to incite the masses...?

It’s definitely an interesting point. Are there racist things happening every day? Unfortunately, yes.
Enough to fill a website with new content on a daily basis without needing to reach? That would be beyond sad if there were.

I slept for several hours since I took the day off. Boy was I exhausted. I could sleep some more, I'm sure. But I have a dog that needs taken care of and stuff I need to do that work usually interferes with.

But man, I sleep for a few hours and come back in here to see only a couple more comments. The season really is coming to an end, huh? Where is everyone?

The green room is quiet. I'm going to blame it on Gary's post backfiring. I think people are conflict weary and don't want to comment because of potential brouhaha.

Or they're still working on their entries.

Or their brains have baked inside their skulls because the weather/climate is so f'ing hot.

Although, I have a reprieve today due to clouds and scattered thunderstorms.

Both of my entries are in. :) Yay I get to just kick back and relax when I get home from work here in two and a half hours or so.

I'm still doing good, despite the heat and the driving around and everything. Still can't listen to music, though - I tried it out and yep, there's still something wrong that is made worse by vibrations.

I'll be at my GI specialist in less than 24 hours. He'll make me all better. :) But for now, it seems to be under control and doing okay. No horrible pain, just a slight wrong feeling.

Of course, I chose THIS week, when we had double the amount of prompts in the same amount of time, to write my longest entry yet! :O I think it's a pretty awesome entry, though, so yay. ^_^

With regards to the UW hanging doll thing... yeah, all I can say is this: I've walked down Langdon Street. I have no doubt that the frat boys in question were seriously idiotic, and also ignorant of comics. Both make me sad. I swear, the IQ of Madison drops up by the lake there. Which is weird, since it's a pretty good school and all.

In other news, I have been seriously lazy today. I meant to read a bunch of Idol entries and comment and stuff, but uh, instead I didn't. Mostly I played silly games on my phone and read more of Needful Things. It's been a good day.

Wow... well personally speaking, I think I might prefer being Venom. He doesn't have that stick up the butt, goody two shoes attitude Spider Man does. A little misbehavior is a good thing now and then!

Today, I knocked off of work at noon and came straight home to finish up my Idol entries. Yes, I skipped out on work for Idol. In all fairness though, because I start so early, I really only skipped out on a few hours but still. I'm beginning to suspect that my priorities in life are a little screwed at this point. But then I give it a little more thought and realize that they're just where they need to be.
