How am I faring? Not so good. That's not in reference to the poll since I haven't looked at the poll in awhile. I'm in too much pain to think straight at the moment :/

I'm trying to eat some pudding for breakfast since I can't open my mouth to chew. I'm sick to my stomach from the Vicodin and I'm needing to take that every four hours instead of every 6. My neck is even hurting on that side, as is my ear. I'm so worried I have dry socket or will get it, but hoping the pain is just because they cut a piece of my jaw bone away...

I need to read today and I will. Though I'd like to give a shout out to alien_infinity since she really stepped out of her comfort zone this week and put out some awesome dystopian fiction!

Vicodin time again I think. Ive gotten permission to work from home today and that may include passing out soon.

This was one of my 6-day work weeks...wow, it's almost like I'd forgetten what the GR looks like!

I'm still struggling with some news we received a couple of days ago. Those of you on my FL already know this, but for those who aren't...my big fluffy Jack Dog (see icon) has an aggressive form of bone cancer. He's not a good candidate for amputation because of where the lesion is located, and even if he were, it would only buy him a couple of months at the most. He can barely walk, but he still manages to galumph and lumber and charge birdies!

He's on pain meds. They zonk him. I've spent the last two evenings with his big ol' fluffy head in my lap while we watch TV.

I've been reading but not commenting much this time around. I apologize for that because it wasn't my intention this week :(

How am I faring? In life - not bad. I'm still super exhausted from hell week, but I'll get some sleep on Sunday (hopefully). Work is REALLY slow, which makes me even more tired. I'd play on the internet all day, but I'm thinking that's probably frowned upon.

In the polls, I don't appear to be doing too well, so I will cross my fingers for a topsy turvy - well, sort of, because I really like the top ranked entries - and prepare my farewell speech.

My favourite entries so far have been ellakite's and java_fiend's. I know there were others, but those are the ones that stick out the most right now.

Hullo Green Room! That stompy fire-breathing poll makes me a little nervous, but I've got godzilla on my side, so I think it'll work out ok. The green guy with the radioactive death breath always wins in the end.

I'm hoping to do a little writing today, but I'm feeling kind of stuck on the story I want to work on. Hopefully I can find a way to muddle through and write something decent.

I'm putting together a list of my favorites this week, and I'm kind of shocked at how low the numbers are for some really nifty entries. I think I'll blame livejournal wonkiness, because seriously, there was a lot of great writing out there this week. Link to a list forthcoming... Today's a good day! It's rumplebuttkins' birthday! Dirty 30! No plans for tonight as he has to work a double and I have work and school, but we both took Friday and Saturday off so we have an actual weekend to spend together, which hasn't happened in MONTHS. Excitement!

The polls are making me nervous! My numbers are down.

I do think, re comments vs. votes, that a lot of people probably do as I do, which is comment as they read and then vote at the very end.

I'm at work, still struggling with why a fix I did on another code branch doesn't work on my target code branch. It seems to be because code down below mine may be broken-- and it's on a path I tested last week! That's how I found the bug I'm fixing. Grrrr-unstable-new-hardware-platforms-grrrr.

And at home, my parents are actually coming tomorrow (instead of last week's ??? maybe-visit). They're staying overnight, for the first time ever, in my office room which is also where all random paperwork/future-craigslist-items/things-to-file go to die. :0

Work is busy and stressful and I've been emo and then going out to eat or out to get groceries or replying to comments or trying to comment on the entries of friends who need emotional support, so I haven't had time to read Idol entries. I am planning to do so tonight when I get home from work.

I love you all a lot yay! Also I have looked at the poll, but I'm all zen about it this week. The lack of comments last week meant that I wasn't exactly very motivated this week, and I know it's not my best work.

Should I survive though, I will be quite motivated for the next entry! :)

Has anyone noticed that the quality of the writing around here is scary high right now? I'm astonished at how many entries made me go "Whoa" "Wow!" or "Wheeeeee!" And totally props to people writing in fantasy/scifi/horror, because dude, those are so not my first choice of genre and yet I get so engaged and excited by those stories here! Props also to the people handling personal nonfiction with vision and passion and a distinct lack of whining! And the awesome "why tell a true life story?" discussion going on over at dslartoo!

Quick Q - I recall reading in a GR entry that a Topsy Turvy power had only been used once before - anyone recall what season that was? I'm curious to look back and see how it played out.

I have a feeling it was season 4. Not that I was around for it, but I've heard it mentioned enough times that the season *should* have stuck! (I almost wrote "sticked". Maybe I should get some coffee before I do my reading&voting stuff.)
