We’ve got a poll: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/557968.html
And special powers: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/557781.html

Next, I’m tying you to the roof of my car, because it’s just like a rollercoaster. You’ll going to LOVE it!! It’s good enough for Seamus Romney, it’s good enough for you!

Ah, the good old 80s, where everything was “OK” and the future was filled with the possibilities of what could be screwed up next!
As an example – how many current Idolers were actually born in the 80s!! What a horrible decade, that will likely go down as when everything went wrong! ;)

Unlike right now, in Idol, which will go down as the time when everything had already gone so completely wrong that there wasn’t much you could do except put your head down and hope for the best!

First?

I'm off to get my wisdom tooth extracted. I'm likely going to be out of it the rest of the day. Thankfully I have Java here to help me out. Luckily it's only one tooth since the others came in earlier. All at different times still though, like years apart, but they all were pulled with local numbing only. This one is impacted into the bone and never surfaced. I'm nervous since I've only been under anesthesia once in my life and that was when I was 6 and I had my tonsils removed. So any well wishes for me to not freak out and for quick healing is appreciated.

Oh and I was born in the 80s. That's something I like to tease Java about any chance I get :P

Good luck! I had all 4 cut out when I was 18 and it didn't turn out to be a big deal. I didn't do the general anesthesia, though, just nitrous. I'm not sure why but it's probably because I'm insane.

Enjoy being able to tease people about being old for all it's worth now! I was a total brat about that when I was younger and now the tables have turned. ;-)

Ah the 80's a loverly decade where everyone really was out to get you. Honistly I think us generation Xer's turned out remarkably well all things considered. Frankly it's really amazing that we aren't all holed up someplace with a shotgun screaming to the people at the door to go away.
Remember folks paranoia is just good reasoning when everyone is out to get you.

I take no blame for the eighties; I'm a '76 baby myself! I know a lot more music from the eighties than I ought to, though - purely by osmosis from having much older siblings. Which means I know the words to the songs but not who sang them or anything about the bands then. Don't take me to pub quizzes, I would let the side down.

I'm certainly hoping to keep my head down and hoping for the best!

I'm setting myself the task of reading and commenting on everyone's entry this week. Let's see if I can do it.

Wisdom tooth removal was a success! The anesthesia didn't kick in as quickly as I thought and I had a major panic attack, but the doctor put some "anti-anxiety medicine" in my IV and all was good once again. They moved me over to the next room and asked who was with me... And that's when I realized that it was done. I didn't even remember getting sleepy. One minute I was getting the medicine in the IV listening to the tech girls talking about how hot Adam Levine was to being taken into another room for what I thought was surgery but I was done. It's crazy.

My contact fell out and within minutes of waking up, I was able to put it back in without a mirror or assistance. The tech was impressed. I can't even do that without being out of it usually.

I had a banana peanut butter smoothie to go with my Vicodin. I'll be out the rest of the day ;)

So glad to hear it is over and you had an easy time.
Vicodin did not make me sleepy at all but it works differently on different people. As long as it controls any pain, that's the thing! Have a good nap!

I'm feeling very old with all this post '80s talk :p

The '70s was such a divergent decade. On the one hand, as [livejournal.com profile] tigrkittn said upthread, we were a little too young to understand the winds of societal change that had sprung from the 60s (women's lib, Vietnam, the space program, etc.); OTOH, by the close of the decade, we were just starting to understand all the implications with disco in the background.

Anyway.

I'm pleased to report that Mr. Jack made it through his sedation and x-rays successfully. Now all we have to do is wait...

I'm hungry.

I was busy popping babies out in the sixties, spent the later sixties in a fug of other people's drugs at parties, loved 69 to 79, oh boy the memories!! The music still carries me back, and I get misty about Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, and Dylan.

Then I was a mother of teenagers in the 70's , we listened to a lot of music. I was a very cool Mum.
80's had to cope with a lot of the death, husband's mother, my father, my mother. When all the lj crew were having their formula, I was balancing work, nursing sick people, and dealing with teenage angst.

But also remember the 80's for some fun stuff too, the fashions were whacky, the bands were 'glam rock', and we changed countries for the third time.
Music update;
I notice Gotye has made it to the top of the US charts, see? I have been going on about him for four years! I 'wuz right'.
