Green Room - Week 21 - Day 1

The DOOM has passed, and the survivors are still huddled under whatever bits of debris were large enough to use as cover, watching, and waiting to make sure that it doesn’t decide to swing back in their direction. They remember when this month started, when they were the Top 100, laughing in their carefree and innocent way, with no true idea of what was approaching.

Once they feel confident enough to poke out of their holes, it comes time to assess the damage and see who else is still in one piece.

I think Gary just has it in for me this season - got eliminated one week too early to reach the coveted 100 week mark, and one week too late to be a Gatekeeper. This season is hereby FIRED. So there!

So I just started walking in my office building and I realized I had my parking card still in hand. Considering I need it to get out of the gates of Hell (err I mean my office parking lot) and that I'm likely to lose it if I don't keep it in my car, I decided to run it back down. No biggie except I then try to get in the wrong car which was running and someone was in it. They were similar colors I guess, but looked nothing alike. I can tell today is going to be interesting. I started the day trying to hijack a car, what else can I expect? :)

This weekend makes me tired just thinking about it. The cable gods are installing TV for me on Sunday (after ten years without it) and I have 8 hours straight of back to back roommate interviews. The good news is I got a great response. The bad news is I get overstimulated when dealing with large amounts of strangers and making important decisions too. I think it's almost too early to find someone because a month gives them just enough time to back out at the last minute (I had three people in a row do this the last time).

I almost sacrificed last round because I'm not sure how I'll get an entry written. It's one reason I went the easy route and picked someone I'll be seeing all weekend anyway. I couldn't imagine someone depending on me when I won't have computer access most of Friday night (I'm steam cleaning the carpets. I have to clean up after my current roommate to), Saturday (Java and I are going to be in an urban race out of town) and Sunday (cable guy and roommate interviews until bedtime).

So yeah.... Not the best weekend to be my partner. Poor Java :P

I made it late to the results post, so I'll take a minute here to say what fun I've had - I enjoyed the challenge in writing every week, and it was such a bonus to read so many other noteworthy, wonderful entries.

good luck to all of you going forward! and I'd be more than a bit remiss if I didn't say how fantastic Gary is for organizing and running this crazy show so stalwartly for such a long time.

Time to put the doom aside... and write some poetry! Seriously, I'm going to be participating in National Poetry Writing Month during April, where I'll be writing a poem a day. In order to keep those poems off the search engines (which will allow me to offer them as "unpublished" to magazines or contests), I'm going to post them all "friends only." Consider this an open invitation to anyone who wants to read them to friend me.

I'm thinking about trying my hand at this myself. It could be fun. I haven't read up on the actual details, but I would enjoy trying to write a poem a day for a month. It feels small enough to be manageable. Might be the thing to help me get back into writing around the demands of a small person.

Hello Green Room! Though I survived the DOOOMY doom of doom, I'm feeling all weird and anxious today. I have to go to a wedding, you see. And that means (gasp) dressing up. Which I just... it's not my thing. I have a dress. I have things. But I just realized that the only semi-fancy shoes I have are open toed and that's a no-no with hose, isn't it? Or is it? I have no idea. Sigh. If I'm mobbed and stoned by the fashion police I'll limp back and write from bed.

I'm over here hiding behind the plant in the corner just waiting for more DOOOOOOM to befall us. Frankly, I had a really strong feeling that I was going last night and am surprised as hell to still be here. Which makes me happy. Though quietly so just so I don't invite more DOOOOOM upon myself.

I fear the storm isn't over however. This is where Gary lulls us into a false sense of calm and peace before totally dropping the hammer on us again.

TGIF is all I have to say in other news... this week has been... well... a week. I'm ready to put it in the rear view mirror, quite frankly. But got a good partner for the week and we'll be working out some ideas over the weekend! I just hope Gary doesn't square us off against our partners in a poll to the death!!!

I don't think he's lulling us into a false sense of calm - given his comments about not being able to predict what happens next, I think something really icky is in store for us this week, like having to go up against our partner again. Perhaps there are separate polls and we don't have combined totals at all - he gets rid of half of us in one hit, whichever gets the lower total.

I really hope we aren't up against our partner, because mine's truly awesome and if that happens, I'd drop out in his favour in a heartbeat.

It's another beautiful day and I'm taking more pictures to make into icons while I'm out and about for work - the icon I'm using for this comment is from a picture I took at work a while ago. :)

Which I have a nice easy schedule today and I'm halfway done with it, and I have a great partner and we have great ideas already and the sun is out and everything is green and colorful and alive and it's Friday and the work day is almost over, and life is just good, man. So good.

Not being very active here.
Someone I have known sence hs (Rachael Clauson) is having a bad time as her mother recently passed away from a long series of strokes (it took almost a week) and her stepfather unit is trying to @?!: her out of her inheritance. This may be the worse thing to happen to her and she used to date hightekvagabond before he changed his name even.
