Now for what people are actually waiting for - the results.

You voted, overwhelmingly, for “close to 10 contestants” to be eliminated this round. Which means that the results are going to be tragic, but not as widespread as they could be.

But let’s take a moment to think about that though - we have made it to the Top 69 contestants! When you take into consideration Second Chance, there have been something like 323 contestants to come through these doors this season! You are the TOP 69 of those!

So, even if you go out this round - give yourself a huge round of applause. Because that is an amazing accomplishment in and of itself.

You should be very proud.

Hopefully everyone knows that they should be playing the Home Game, and how grateful everyone is for them coming out in the first place. It’s cliche, I know, but it’s still very much the truth.

I’ll cut right to the chase from here. Because otherwise I’ll keep talking all night to keep from pulling the trigger! Some of these people are friends, and others are folks that I've gotten the chance to know over the course of this season, and really, I hope that one day that I can count them as such as well. . .

It's one more reason why I might joke about "Gary Only Voting" but that's a burden that I would never want on my own shoulders.

But seriously, I'm very very proud to go out, happy, and confident with my work. The appreciation I've received from the comments I've received has really meant so much to me, and further fueled my desire to put my work out there.

I've mentioned some of the things I'm currently going through in my posts and comments, but nowhere near everything that 2012 has thrown at me. I'm likely too proud to seem like I'm whining or complaining. I held deeply to the idea that no matter what hardship life had in store for me, I'd never give up, never quit this competition. Writing means so much to me, its really the only outlet I have for my "stuff". No matter what anxiety, depression, tears, or pain told me to do, I told myself I'd never give up.

And I didn't.

And I'm proud.

Now, time to get my life together. Bless you all for having me again, you'll be hearing from me again in the future!

I can't say I didn't see it coming, but I also can't say I'm not disappointed.

Still, I've enjoyed this experience and grown a lot. Thank you to Gary for doing this, for ____hejira for inviting me to join the fray, to all of you great writers that have helped me raise my game, to the community I've interacted with and the friends I've made, and to everyone that has ever voted for me.

Anyone from Idol is welcome to add me as a friend, and even if we didn't speak much at all, it'd be great to carry on getting to know you in the future.

Doing a little quick math in my head (they said there would be no math...), I believe that at this stage in the game, all of the remaining contestants have outlasted the entire number of people who competed in Season 5. I could produce an exact number, but that spreadsheet is on my old computer, which is currently something of a blue-screening paperweight.

Season 5 was... in the 170s/190s? Something like that. I used to be able to rattle it off. Considering that I made my dinner, and then forgot about it until after the votes were in, not recalling that right now is probably the least of my concerns! :)
