It’s the DAY OF DOOM that we all have been waiting for, at long last, it is here! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/549323.html

The Gatekeepers have been filing in to cast their stones into the circle. Later, we will cut open an animal to see if the entrails can give us any signs as to what those rocks mean!

OK, that might not be the *actual* system. Unless of course, it is… *cue dramatic music*

If it’s not though, I wonder what I’m going to do with all of these entrails! Perhaps, give them out as parting gifts to the contestants who will be leaving us later tonight.

***

Other than continuing to read and comment to each other’s entries – (and btw – what have been YOUR favorites?), how have you been killing time? And is, it true that Time was wearing a hoodie, so it’s somehow OK???

*Happydance!* I got frist!! And it's my Friday! And I got some decent news, and decent sleep (not enough!) Time to paaaartay! Might as well, anyway, because that anvil of DOOM is lurking overhead just waiting... might as well enjoy the moment!

So. Freaking. Nervous.

Can it be 9 pm already? Or 10 pm, or whenever we'll actually get to know if we're leaving or not?

*tears more hair out and is now bald*

I liked all of the entries, to be honest. That sounds like a cop-out but almost every single post had something special. I have no idea how anyone is supposed to pick 10-20 people to leave.

Yay for good news and Thursday being Friday! I wish it were my Friday too. I did get decent sleep, though, and I'm done reading everyone's posts. So there is that. :)

So nervous. Just want the results already, arghhhhh.

I've been thinking a lot about the Trayvon case. Tensions keep building. I wonder what is going to happen in our nation in the days ahead. It's very sad that Trayvon died.

In light of these issues, yes, I have been thinking about Idol some too though it seems smaller in a way. Yet, it some of the entries especially highlight that there are joys and sorrows in all our lives (I see this even in the fiction.) And these change who we become.

Ultimately though the media etc are highlighting Trayvon's loss as an example of greater injustice..ultimately, his parents go to sleep each night with his bed empty.

Pain is personal and shapes us.

Agreed. I didn't see even 10 who "should" go. Everyone did a good job.

I only started reading last night, and I kept getting interrupted by phone calls. It was 3 AM when I called it a night, and I still have five more pieces to read and comment on.

Long day ahead of me, and a busy weekend coming up.

That's what gets me. Regardless of the bigger implications, whatever they may be, he was someone's kid. How horrible. :(

Agreed - on one hand, it's hard to take a pleasurable leisure pursuit seriously when someone is the victim of such visible injustice.

On the other hand, one of the most powerful things we cna do is writers is to bear witness, to put our experiences into words so strong that people on the other side can say, "Me too." And we don't always bear witness for injustice and societal wrongs, but the rest of our work is in some ways practice for that.

It's also as well a way to connect with others, and the more we connect, the less likely we are to commit injustice ourselves. Our witness also helps others to be just--the number one thing that determines whether a conservative religious person believes in marriage equality is whether they know someone who is (an out) gay. So bearing witness about the things that make us different, and the ways we need the support and understanding of the world, does help create that support and understanding.

Keep witnessing. It matters.

I would like some entrails please.

I plan to clutch them like a security blanket until the results are in.

Just drop them in the corner--I'm the one gently rocking in the fetal position.

I haven't been commenting a whole lot, I haven't been very talkative (the vertigo from this sinus infection is sticking around and making it difficult). But I do want to say I really liked dslartoo's entry this week. It was so sweet, and made me giggle. I also liked alien_infinity's piece because she went nonfiction this week and showed herself for the first time though I know it makes her nervous. I'm sure there are others... My brain is still foggy.

I'm not thinking about Idol Doom so much, I'm trying to get through the week. There's been plenty of Doom there already. I'm hoping Idol doesn't add to it with the results tonight!

It's Thursday at least... Though my weekend lineup sounds exhausting with cleaning and roommate searching anyway, so there's not much I'm looking forward to this weekend anyway. Though Saturday in San Diego with Java should be nice, I almost wish we could stay the weekend and get away... But at least a day out and about will be fun even if I'm going to be exhausted afterward since its a race :)

I really never stop moving. Even now I'm preparing to walk the dog as I type this. I go fwump soon?

Nope! No forgiveness! You are *DEAD* to me!

Then again, you should feel honored: Many of my best friends and mentors are dead. You're in very distinguished company!

Plus, I talk to dead people, and I listen to them when they talk back. Our relationship won't change one iota.

Except, of course, that you'll be dead to me.

Hi there Green Room!

How y'all doin'?

I'm good - cold, but good. We're one day closer to Friday, and the sun should be making a reappearance for us right in time for the weekend.

Life, as usual is crazy right now. I just realized that the charity show I'm doing opens in 22 days!!! It's coming so fast and we still have so much to do! But at least my husband and I have found our new apartment, so that's one thing I can tick off my list. Apparently here in Quebec we are different from the rest of the world in the just about everybody moves on July 1. So it's crazy trying to prepare everything for your move when everyone's doing the same thing. So the earlier you can book your moving truck, cable installation, phone transfers, etc., the better.
I still have about a page and a half of entries to read, but I WILL get 'er done!!

Yay for another Frist!
I am always just happy to give congrats.

And Woo Hoo! we finally get the stones and entrails identified tonight! I know we will all rally round the tribal council fire... and hope that our torches will not be extinguished.

Oh good, entrails, I can use them in preparing blood puddings! I'm not even joking. Good entrail-based casings are hard to source these days.

I agree. Idol does still matter and like you say, the more connections you have to different people, the more injustice seems wrong.

I admit, part of why this case is really getting to me is that I did my field experience days in a school with many different races.

And I when I see the stories of Trayvon, in my mind I see the African American 8th graders I grew to know this semester.

And I read about how young black men are told by their parents to be careful in public etc. It makes it more personal. I want to know those students I knew will grow up and be...ok. They are kids but all I am reading about this case..I guess I didn't fully realize some of the things they will have to face as they grow up.

The violent comments online worry me to.

You make a good point about bearing witness. Thank you for your perspective. It's very helpful.

Tensions will continue to mount...and most likely knowing the past and the history of other situations like this...riots will ensue and we will all be standing back saying WTF?

Personally I am tired of hearing nothing BUT the Williams/Zimmerman case. It's annoying to no end. I know that sounds harsh but if anyone watched the BBC last night you might have caught the broadcast about the natural gas rig off of the coast of Scotland that is on the brink of causing a disaster the size of the BP Gulf Oil spill.

Did anyone else notice the Pope meeting with Castro yesterday and the bold move of the Pope of telling Castro to back down.

How about the three bombs that went off at the UN backed peace summit in Baghdad?

I tried asking a college friend of mine what they thought about the Pope and Castro...she's Cuban...she didn't even know it went down. Yet she has about 15 different postings on the Wilson/Zimmerman case on her website.

On another note I managed to wake up at 3.:55am AZ time and promptly puked in my favorite chucks...not a good day..

If I seem a little bitchy...now you know why.

Hope everyone has a good day!!!

I know what you mean. It is a very sad case but that shouldn't diminish everything else happening in the world. There are many injustices happening.
