I continue to be amazed at how people can grab onto a few facts that support their personal agenda and then blatantly dismiss the others. I suppose that I shouldn't be all that surprised. That seems to be the foundation of logic in the age of the internet, where everyone is an instant expert on every subject! Even if they had never heard about the subject ten minutes before! ;)

Ah, people, you are a constant source of entertainment/tear out your hair frustration.

***

Speaking of "tear out your hair frustration" - the votes are coming in from the Gatekeepers http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/549323.html

I know some people have said that they plan on using this "down time" to make sure that they go read and comment to all of the entries. Which, I think that idea is fantastic. If you want feedback, the best thing you can do is go out and give it!

***

What else is amusing and/or frustrating you about the human race these days?

well I went to 1 and a bit movies today. 21 jump street, and the raid. Which I left. It was so freaking violent, and I just don't enjoy stuff like that.

but I also did a few little jobs, and tomorrow I get to meet another lj friend (last week I got to meet jaq22 and it was AWESOME!!!!). And a few more next week too. There are lots in Melbourne.

and I bit the bullet and got a oouple of tickets to comedy fest events, and I am working on an application got a job in north carolina.

and I want to buy some silk cotton shirts. And I am reading stacks of manga, and I am pretty sure that sums up my life at the moment :-)

Too much is frustrating me about the human race these days.

So, I will focus on some pleasant things this morning, because I need a break from the misogyny and racism for a little while. So...
I've got a beautiful daughter Henrietta Idol, who makes me laugh a lot. She's so full of smiles and curiosity and she's been hitting so many milestones so ahead of schedule that it fills me with wonder and awe. Even though she frustrates me sometimes, I look on her little sleeping baby face and everything seems okay.

On Friday M and I are going to see President Obama speak at a local event! That's a bit of excitement.

We've started doing some cleaning/decluttering/organizing around the house and it feels good.

Baby girl might be getting her own room soon. Which means I might have a little space for me again. Which would mean I could set up my puzzle table once more. #imboring #hermithobbies

So my co-worker had her wee baby (a boy) sometime Monday, about 6-1/2 weeks early (she was around 33 weeks). He's 3 lbs, 7 oz and from what I've heard completely healthy! I saw a photo of him on the Book of Face, and he's adorable!

Other than that bit of good news, I'm just all "meh" about the human race right now. Apathy, I haz it.

Frustrating about the human race? The racism surrounding the Hunger Games casting is still frustrating me and baffling me even though I shouldn't be surprised at how low humanity can go.

My brain frustrates me, often because of its inability to give me as much sleep as I desire.

And if I never hear another word about Hunger Games I won't be unhappy. it's everywhere, and apparently it's more important than anything else that is happening in the world right now.

Gary, you don't want to get me on a rant about what frustrates me about humanity. I have a huge long list and lots to say on the subject. It's too early for that.

In fact, that's what frustrates me most. Why must everyone feel the need to start the work day so early? I slept a bit later than usual today and should get ready for work, but I'm still so sleepy. I'm likely still sick with a sinus infection, though the antibiotics have helped, and that makes me extra sleepy. And I can't go to bed early for anything.

I didn't read last night, I actually got a life and went out with three LJ peeps. Two are long time LJ friend's of mine and I met another friend of theirs. It was fun and totally worth not getting any sleep.

Is it Saturday yet? Though we are getting up early then to for a urban race in San Diego. At least that's fun :)

Goodmorning....ughhhh...ok so why is that AZ is on Pacific time and not Mountain???? Backwards state...anywho..Thanks to Ellakite I had some of the most AMAZING Mexican food last night at Rosalita's I swear I gained five pounds from the guacamole and the red and green sauce was mind blowing!! This might offend some...(but I relate food to sex)...it was a Mexican orgasm on a plate. Loud, spicy, full of flavor and satisfying as all hell. I wound up starting with the cheese crisp onto the machaca and finally flan. And dear lord the flan was the creamiest thing I have EVER had it just melted in your mouth. Washed it down with a beer and was on my way. Thank you for the recommendation.

Now anyone know anything about Cheyenne,WY??? The work overloads have seen fit to possibly send me there next.

Actually, Arizona *IS* on Mountain Time...

... they just refuse to observe Daylight Savings Time. That's what's causing the mix-up.

I knew you'd enjoy Rosita's Place, but I always enjoy getting confirmation. I simply cannot envision myself ever passing through the Phoenix area without dropping by for a meal.

(And I am not at all offended by your terminology; a college buddy of mine used to refer to their favorite food experiences as "oral orgasms". Rosita's food definitely qualifies.)

I'm afraid I can't help you with Cheyenne, though; I'm not that well traveled. Best of luck.

I made it through the first page and got started on the second on my reading. :) OMG, you guys - you guys are such awesome writers! Idol is definitely a humbling experience. I ain't gonna lie - I know I'm one of the best in the Sims story world. But then I come here and read your entries, and I realize that I have a lot to learn and a long way to go before I can call myself a master of the craft of writing. Thank you all so much for that lesson and for the inspiration and for sharing such wonderful writing with the rest of us. :)

Today is an interesting day at work. No tours, only pulling one supra lock, and a LOT of "new exterior photos". Huh. And it's kind of gray and cloudy, but apparently my sort of supervisor type person thinks that even with the gray cloudiness the whole green and flowers and spring thing will look better than the current winter time pictures. Hey, I'm not going to complain - should be a quick and easy day.

I have the "my guests" thing turned on so I can see who comes to my LJ (well, I can see them if they also have the "my guests" thing turned on), and I've seen some Idol-related names I haven't seen before and who aren't current contestants. Wondering if they're the gatekeepers. ;)

OH! Also, my entry and the comments on it inspired me to once again look into my heritage and the history of my family and where I grew up. I did some googling, and I found someone's dissertation on the music of the area I grew up in - the Round Peak style of old-time music. It included interviews and quotes from the performers. One man was remembering a party that he'd played at, and he mentioned that my father had been on the guitar! And that he was good! :)

For those who don't know - my father died when I was in first grade. My mother gave me his guitar. It's in the closet now. One day I'll get new strings for it and who knows, maybe I'll try to learn how to play it. He used to play it for us every Sunday evening. :) And my half-brother had a tape recording of a local group and my father had played guitar for it - I should ask him if he still has it.

My father died when I was young too, I'm only just now finding out about my heritage. I understand the desire to want to play his guitar and everything <3

You know what is really amusing? Bring in 3 dozen assorted bagels and six different spreads and watch the dieters in the office take flying leaps off of their diet wagons. Crabs, what carbs?

My office (a.k.a. the lobby) smells like Windex all of a sudden. Maybe the ghost has got the spring cleaning bug!

Anyways, the human race should not be allowed to drive on public roads. At least not before my coffee has kicked in. I cussed out more people today than I have in the last month. And I wasn't even the one driving. We get one burst of rain and everyone forgets how to drive in it. Our car is having anxiety attacks whenever we pull out of the driveway and I honestly can say that I don't blame him. I'm longing for my old commute where the worst of my woes was getting stuck on a country road behind a tractor.

Crabs? You gave them bagels with crabs on then? That's extra evil in my book. Then again, they are your co-workers... Maybe they deserve the crabs.

That reminds me of the restaurant we ate at this weekend. They had salt and pepper carbs. Not crabs (though strangly enough they looked like crabs), but carbs.

I'm easily amused.

Brainstorming again for a Yahoo! Movies article. I need ideas for one of two possible articles:

* Folklore vs. Film, how moves based on folklore differ from the folktales they're based on (to coincide with "Mirror Mirror" release)

* Depictions of NON-Greek/Roman mythology at the movies (to coincide with "Wrath of the Titans" release)

I'll write whichever one ends up being the most promising. Any ideas?

Here's the gladiator movies article I wrote to coincide with "Hunger Games":

http://movies.yahoo.com/news/those-fight-history-gladiator-films-141200317.html

And here's my Spring Break party article:

"Thor" springs immediately to mind for non-Greek/Roman mythology. It's also a comic book movie, of course, but it still qualifies. There are a couple of low-budget cable movies about Thor, too, that I remember seeing on SyFy around the time "Thor" was out.

I can't think of any others, off the top of my head, but while I'm a mythology buff, I'm not so much a film buff.

The folklore one sounds promising to me; there are so many fairy tale and folklore based movies, and you could get some non-Western examples in there, like "Mulan."

I don't know if it's ever been done before in LJI, but I was thinking that it would be cool if they had a round that was the opposite of Contestants Only - where only the people who have been eliminated from the competition can vote, or members of the community who aren't current competitors. I think that would be great! Of course, that would mean no poll again, but I'm good with that. I kind of think that no poll relazes me... at any rate, it definitely keeps me from obssessively checking on how I'm doing...

That is an idea I've had before too... Though there have been cases where the "Jury" votes in a closed vote with gatekeepers. The Jury is something that comes around toward the end where eliminated people go into that group and can vote on things like immunity, etc. they aren't all eliminated contestants, just those from a certain point on... But yeah, I like your idea too :)
