Green Room - Week 19 - Day 7
Mar. 21st, 2012 11:21 amIt's the last day of the rest of your life.
Or, maybe just the final *full* day of the poll http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/546498.html (you know, since the deadline is tomorrow)
Maybe both. One of those was something that I wasn't supposed to tell you. But considering that I was the one responsible for sending the death squad to break down your door, I guess it's OK that I'm giving you a sporting chance.
What do you have planned for today? How much do you think you will actually accomplish before the untimely end comes?

Date: 2012-03-21 03:37 pm (UTC)Also, I wanted to note that as I went back to add a vote, the typical thing happened where only the first person I voted for was clicked. I assumed it was fine like before... But then I realized everyone else I had voted for lost a vote. So I clicked and re-voted, they gained them back. I played a bit and it appears that votes may disappear if you re-vote. So either vote all at once or remember who you voted for and re- click all the boxes to make sure they stick.
Silly LJ. I noticed at least once where several people lost a vote, I guess that explains it? Something to watch out for. LJ continues to remain haunted. The Ghostbusters need to be called or something. Geez LJ...

Date: 2012-03-21 04:09 pm (UTC)I had a snafu with my order at Starbucks this morning on my way in to work - I got a caramel macchiato and one of their breakfast sandwiches. When I pulled up to the window, the barista hands me a bunch of napkins and the drink, and repeats my order back to me. I take my card and pull around and off to the side to put my card back in my wallet and my wallet in my purse; drive about a block or two, and I can't find my sandwich! I was sure she'd given it to me - but it wasn't underneath my purse; I hadn't put it in the bag with my lunch, didn't see it on the floor... Hmm.
So I turn around and drive back through, and as I pull up the barista sort of "bows" to me, with her head laying on her outstretched arms as she holds out my sandwich and a free drink coupon. She told me that she was sorry, and was glad I'd turned around and come back - another barista handed her the sandwich about 3 seconds after I drove off, and she was all "Oh noes!" about it. We had a good laugh, I was relieved that I hadn't lost my mind, and so now I have a free drink coupon for my trouble, LOL. Win!

Date: 2012-03-21 04:21 pm (UTC)I really shouldn't be here. I have a whole tribe still left to read, and comments to make. Plus I need to look for available places to rent in my area and book appointments with my very little free time. And I have a work exam to pass by the end of the month that I must study for...
But except for the reading and commenting on entries thing, I DON'T WANNA!!
Oh, and on a separate note, I read the Hunger Games Trilogy - took me about a day per book...

Date: 2012-03-21 04:30 pm (UTC)Oh, and cooking. And probably making another try at listening to "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" (I'm 2/3 through the episode now! I keep falling asleep, though).

Date: 2012-03-21 04:33 pm (UTC)Changes of season do a number on me in every possible way. First there's the allergy issue (wait, it gets worse once the leaves emerge!) Then there's the mess-with-my-mental-equilibrium issue, which is really throwing me for a loop right now.
Don't mind me :p

Date: 2012-03-21 04:51 pm (UTC)As for what I hope to accomplish... All I'll say is "More than nothing." I have a tendency to set myself unattainable goals, and then berate myself for not even coming close to achieving them. I have set myself more moderate goals for the day... but right now, I don't want to say what those goals are.

Date: 2012-03-21 05:12 pm (UTC)Really, though - I'm just home for lunch. And today, like all Wednesdays lately, is not very fun at all day at work. I take pictures and tours of rental properties. I've already had an appointment at a owner occupied property this morning. Other delights waiting for me after lunch include a house with an armed alarm and a condo downtown where I have to ask the concierge for the fob. I may not make it to that one, though.
Also, the spousal person recently got a totally awesome app for his iPhone! It has recipes, and you can add the ingredients to a shopping list and even check them off as you get them. So that's what we did last night at the grocery store, and tonight when he gets home he's going to try to actually cook something other than just spaghetti! We'll see how that goes. :)

Date: 2012-03-21 10:23 pm (UTC)Who else gets creeped on?
Date: 2012-03-22 02:07 am (UTC)I get a friend add notification and:
>> ho honey...how are you dear,....hugs and kisses...
I think, "maybe this is someone I know IRL? Or someone who found me through Idol?" and click through. His response to the St Patrick's Day LJ prompt is one blatantly sexual line.
I say:
"Hi there--I'm not on LiveJournal to meet people in that way. I'm participating in a writing contest. If you'd like to read my writing entries, they are public, but please don't send me anything sexually explicit or even flirtatious. Thank you."
He responds:
>>Hii how was your writing contest? I would like to read it..
>>you don't like anything sexually explicit ? Why...
>>Take Care..bye
I struggle, as I think many women do, with trying to be reasonable and polite before reminding myself, LADYPERSON, THIS IS A STRANGER ON THE INTERNET AND YOU DO NOT "OWE" THEM DRYER LINT LET ALONE YOUR POLITE REASONABLE JUSTIFICATION FOR NOT BEING CREEPED ON BY A TOTAL STRANGER. And respond:
"Because I said so. Respect my wishes or don't be my friend."
So.
How common is this around here? I don't get it much on Facebook anymore.
And.
How many other Ladypersons find themselves struggling with trying to respond "politely" or "reasonably" to the fundamental crassness that is being (poorly) hit on by strangers, here or IRL?
There are days when I think the Victorian practice of not being allowed to speak to ladies and gentlemen to whom you hadn't been introduced should be reinstated.
Of course, with Idol, "the roof constitutes an introduction" :) And I enjoy the image of us all lounging together on the deck of the Queen Mary, with stewards bringing us cups of hot bouillon. That's what we need around here. Deck chairs. Gary? Gary!

Date: 2012-03-22 02:19 am (UTC)I don't respond to people who try to hit on me online, if you do it just always gets messy quickly!
