My "regular" life? I don't even know what a life outside Idol (and work) looks like!

Nothing new here. I stayed up too late reading Idol entries, I'm tired today and I'd rather be sleeping in my bed with my puppy right now instead of getting ready for work (well I should be getting ready for work, I'm obviously playing in the GR now).

This Doom thing? Yeah, it's scary. I wish I could use this as a reason to skip work and stay huddled in a corner. My boss just doesn't understand and expects me to work during Contestant Only votes. Crazy concept, huh? ;)

The people who just moved in upstairs have a new burglar alarm.

I can tell because it's been going off pretty much constantly for the last half hour, a shrill piercing tone that cascades up and down an evil scale, diabolus in musica indeed.

I can't work, I'm worried for my sick husband, who's getting some much-needed sleep... I really think I might cry soon. It doesn't take much at all to reduce most of us to quivering blobs willing to sign whatever confession it takes to make it stop.

Last week was tough for a lot of people I care about..which means I spent a lot of time being upset/worried. So far, this week is much calmer. :)

This DOOM! vote is nerve-wracking, sure, but I confess that if I get voted out on a week where we were encouraged to thank each other in varied ways for inspiration? I'm ok with that. I mean, what nicer note to end on?

(Though I'm sorry I neglected to write about emo_snal, as I'm such a fan of his photos and his stories about his extraordinary life.)

Last week seems to have been tough for a lot of people I care about too. I don't know what was up...But I'm glad it's calmer so far. I'm hoping it stays calm here. The Doom isn't helping me any though!

I can't think of any current tv shows. All the old ones I can think of are cop shows. Well, and one soap. (Ryans Hope) :)

I finished a good book and wrote a review on it. And I'm LOVING reading through everyone's entries this week. I think this is possibly my favourite week because a) people have taken the topic different ways, from just a vague concept associated with the journal or the name; b) there's been a good spread of contestants 'used' so it's interesting and 3)... I can't remember what I was going to write. How annoying. Boo for my missing brain!

I wanted to stay and chat for a while but it looks like I'm about to shut down, earlier thane expected! See you all tomorrow!

I'm just glad I finished my entry on time. :) Now I've got to read the entries and send my votes to Gary, and then it's relax and maybe continuing to furnish Death's house for my new Sims story. :)

The entries I've read so far are creative and sweet. :) I liked the topic - it was a good learning experience to try to emulate what I admired in someone else's style. I'm on my phone so no fancy coding, but I do really enjoy lrig_rorrim's work.

It's spring break this week so I have a book I have to read before it's over. That and all the idol entries. Sigh. So much to read. I'm so nervous about the vote! I work two days today and I have the rest off which is a nice mini vacation for me.

Not much else is going on. I'm waiting for a reporter to contact me who wants to do a story on guide dogs.

In my non-Idol life, I'm on a lot of pain medication due to a [very sad thing] and I'm also super behind on all of my work (for the same reason -- I had to leave work early on Friday, leaving a huge pile of work, which was only added to yesterday when the mailman showed up with a 14" pile of bills). I have a really big thing of coffee from 7-11 and I think I will be able to handle these last invoices.

Also, corn chowder with bread bowls is in my future, so there's that.

I've loved what I've been reading so far. So many unique angles and takes on the prompt. It's great to see folks really stretching their wings.

This whole DOOOOM thing is freaking me out. It makes me totally sketchy to not have a poll to watch because you just don't know what's going to happen and whether or not the hammer is going to drop on you! Ack! Though, it is sort of exciting to not know what's going to happen. A little bit anyway. lol...

Because last week sucked, yesterday I tried to DO ALL THE THINGS. I finished my entry, planted stuff for my garden, ran all sorts of errands, made a meal from scratch that I've never made before, and lots of other things. I am super tired.

I've just read through the work room (I don't like to read before I've written as it interferes with my process) and I had no idea that so many people had chattering teeth over this topic! The story I wrote was one I've been wanting to for a while, so it was kind of like, "Oh hey, here's an opportunity!"

Also: I finally got into the Hunger Games and read the whole first book on Sunday. Books two and three arrive from Amazon tomorrow, so I need to finish my Idol reading today. Haha!

"Regular lives"? Heh. I've got bowling this evening, that's about as regular as it gets around here. I hope I do better tonight than I did last week (I had TWO games under 100 last week, which annoys me)!

Also, no poll makes me nervous! I may need an extra Starbucks to compensate, LOL.

But on the plus side, I have a HUGE cupcake from Gigi's Cupcakes (http://www.gigiscupcakesusa.com) because today is apparently cupcake day! I'm not really "entitled" to a cupcake (they are given out as a thank-you from the interpretation agency that we use) but since the worker who *was* to get this cupcake is on vacation for a week, I volunteered to take one for the team, LOL! So now I have a yummy "Midnight Magic" chocolate cupcake with a huge stack of chocolate buttercream icing and chocolate chips on top.

Good thing I've got my insulin pen with me, LOL!

Day #2 of sick child at home, possibly not the last day. Have to pick up school work for her and do it with her. Two days until I leave for a writers retreat; gotta pack and gotta prepare Peter and the kids and the house. The lit mag I edit hasn't received enough submissions for a spring issue, but I have to convince the editorial board not to print, and I have to do it before I leave. And did I mention that both my kids' birthdays are this month?

Wednesday is the deadline for voting? Thursday, I might be able to do. But Wednesday? I'm in the exhausted-parent phase of life. Have pity, Gary!

Morning GR! Currently outside waiting for the firemen to let us back in the building. The heater on my floor caught slightly on fire. I think maybe I'll go get some lunch in the meantime.

Instapaper thing continues to be weird. Didn't get aPDF for any entries last night, and no wireless for free around here so I guess I'll be reading as much as I can on my phone. Commenting is so bloody slow on here though that I'm not sure I'll be able to do that. But I'm going to read everything and vote, especially considering how important my ( and all our votes) are this week.

Regular life? What's that?

I made the mistake of making a page in my current writing notebook for deadlines and....damn. It was like I sent a request out to the Universe to have three billion possible places to send my work crop up all at once. However, I shall be blithely ignoring all of them this weekend while I have a sorority sister of mine visiting. We haven't seen each other in 14 years, so this should be....fun. ;)

Poor Kent. He gets to spend the weekend with two crazy Irish redheads. But that's what St. Patrick's Day is all about, Charlie Brown. ;)
