Green Room - Week 17 - Day 7

First and foremost, congratulations to "The UK" for being officially recognized as a place. It's only for a week, and I'm not altogether sure it's still not made up, but for now - way to go "England"!

Once the week is up however, I fully expect this fictional island "nation" to be swallowed up by the very real gigantic sea monsters that prowl at the edge of maps.

For the record - the officially recognized locations are:

'Merica - My apartment.
Foreignland - where foreigners live. AKA places that are not my apartment. More likely than not they do not actually exist.
and England/UK - who are still foreigners, and quite likely hippies, but there is at least some evidence of their temporary existence.

I can't stay up and play in the GR. I must get sleep since I'm exhausted beyond belief. I'm not getting much reading done, I met a friend for dinner to help bring me out of my funk. It seemed to have worked a bit. I'm feeing better, just tired. Very tired. It's been a long few days for me and I expect it to stay crazy for a bit.

Actually, I miss being able to read very many entries, or do anything fun on the internet at ALL from work anymore. You guys could like, PDF all your entries just for me, right? So I can download them to my Kindle for reading? Because I've figured out a way I can leave my Kindle on my desk and read while APPEARING to be looking at my monitor, and you know, actually working, without anyone suspecting a thing. Which is, sadly, a thing I cannot do with my phone that still has access to fun places, since the fonts are so small and require me to read closely, during which I can NOT fake working.

So yeah, that sucks. But yay for being able to read? Long story short, I got my daughter The Hunger Games for Christmas and she recently started reading it and got so addicted and into it that I decided to download it. I read the Hunger Games yesterday. I read the second book, Catching Fire today. I'm a few pages into Mockingjay, and hope to finish it tomorrow. SO GOOD I CAN'T PUT THE STORY DOWN. I've been reading it in every spare second I've had. My daughter's about 65% of the way through the second book, and we're thoroughly enjoying being able to talk about it.

Frankly, you could all be made up, as far as I can tell. I'm not seeing any evidence to the contrary. I'll bet I'm part of some experiment like that movie with Jim Carrey which name I can't remember. You know the one I mean.



I'm making soup right now. Looking forward, oh so very much, to tomorrow where I will be child-free for six hours. SIX HOURS!!! Like it is when you've got money burning a hole in your pocket, I've already planned about three million things to do in that time, but one of them is almost certainly going to be visitng the garden centre to spend a gift voucher. I need some soil wetter.

I've been really slack with reading this week, which I hope to remedy this afternoon and evening. I hope to get to everyone, even if I don't manage to comment on all of them.

Hello Green Room! I was just heading off to bed when I saw the email notification, woot.

I've had my first Skype session tonight with some LJ folk - we formed a Virtual Book Group on Facebook, and discussed (with some meanderings) March by Geraldine Brooks. It's about the dad from Little Women; he's mostly absent from that book, so this one explains where he went and what he was doing. It's really quite good if you like that sort of thing. :)

my puppy has forgiven me for taking her to the bad place and leaving her for several hours were they were mean to her and made her feal bad for a while.
They stuck her with needles, shaved her tummy and she woke up sore and ill.
I told her it was for her own good but I do not think she beleaves me.
Now we do not have to worry about getting grandpuppies.

I woke up this morning and found my desktop wrong. Best I can figure, my laptop ran an update last night and left itself signed on as a user that wasn't me.

But it looked like all my files - documents and photos - were gone. That includes two large works in progress, one that was backed up a couple months ago and anoter that has never been backed up.

I rebooted and came back as me, and my stuff is here, but my home page was reset and my browser looks weird.

No idea what else might have been f'd with. I hate that.

Hello GR!

How's everyone doing today? I finally spoke with the radio station where I won my trip and I have to go in to sign some paperwork tomorrow. Then I will finally be able to start PLANNING! There will apparently be blackout dates and such, but I have until mid December to book, so hopefully I'll be able to figure out something good.

In other news, in my head I am one day ahead of reality for some reason. This blows because I keep getting excited about the weekend, and then I realize it's only THURSDAY. :-(
