So here we are. Week 17.

Before we get to "the good stuff", we have the "unfortunate stuff" to get to, mainly two bye-outs.

This week we are losing a veteran who seemed on track to make a run well into the competition, and a newbie who definitely made a mark and garnered quite a few fans along the way.
Goodbye to applespicy and sneakishfrog. You will be missed.

I hope we will continue to see you in the Home Game, and in the Green Rooms!

As for the vote itself -
It was time to step up to plate and pack some heat coming into this round. Hopefully, you did just that.

Because it's a community only vote, so make sure to let people know! With things so close over the last couple of weeks, even a couple of votes can be the deciding factor!

The bottom five, from each tribe, will be eliminated.

I was thinking it was a gatekeeper week... So I was relieved to see the poll. Then I read that 5 from each tribe was going and realized that's likely just as evil. Or almost as evil since I guess we still have a poll. I dunno though.

You've been too nice leading up to now, I figured the month o' doom would be really bad. And this is a pretty scary start.

I was thinking it was a gatekeeper week too, even though I heard that usually doesn't happen until the byes are gone. It's all pretty evil, though. Five people from each tribe is scary!

And I think the polls are slow as hell so far, which is definitely not easing my anxiety. Must stop looking. :-p

The gatekeepers after the byes is a myth. Complete myth. I know because java has taken a bye during one. I figured it would be after SCI to give those coming in a chance to get their feet on the ground though. But that's not something I figured was an ultimate truth.

Voting is slow and I'm going to stop looking now :/

I need to stop looking, too. I'm trying to reassure myself that other people who I know are great writers have not too many votes right now so I shouldn't assume. But with so many people being eliminated this week AND the fact that I did something "different" this week... meh.

I figure gatekeepers will come at any time. I just assume every week is going to be the most evil thing possible so I'm prepared... And relieved even when it's still somewhat evil. Like this week is very bad, but at least we have a poll.

Though I won't allow myself to watch it :p

I keep saying the same thing about how I know other great writers are not as high as they usually are... It's just weird how slow it is. I guess big poll plus community only means less voters early on?

I think just like the entries come in really slowly up until the deadline, the votes trickle in until a big flurry towards the end.

I brought nothing. I'm too damned tired to bring anything.

I had an absolutely crazy day -- it started off with my learning that a friend of mine lost his wife yesterday... and things really didn't improve from there. I've felt depressed and exhausted all damned day long, and I *STILL* have "miles to go before I sleep".

I made the deadline to post my piece, but not by much... and part of me is wondering if I should have bothered.

I know I'm being a downer, but I'm trying to be honest here. It's been a long, rough, exhausting day for me and those close to me; if I said anything else, I'd be lying.

It’s a special bye given in extreme cases. (Use of “executive power”, hence “executive bye”)
Usually death of a close family member or giving birth. I’ve extended it, on occasion, to natural disaster or something that legitimately would physically impact someone from writing, if they have shown a pattern of actually wanting to stay in, and contact me. (I don’t think I’ve ever given to someone who has *asked* for it. ) But it’s an option on the table if I feel the circumstance warrants it.
