I have some news worth sharing:

The Redemption Tribe has been distributed out into the other tribes. Two things that I have been hinting at are going to happening next week. What two things? Sources decline to comment.

We unfortunately lost a few people this week due to bye-outs: _messy, majesticarky and yuniebaby

I know that I personally will be missing them from the competition, and I suspect other people out there feel the same way.

We also ended up with quite a few byes, which I suspected would happen with this topic, and being so close to when they will be ending (100). That, combined with the bouncing immunities left on the playing field (http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/524779.html has a list of who has them this week) should make for some interesting results this week!

It's back to being an open vote, so you don't have to be a community member - encouraging folks to join the community is always a good thing! :)

The contestant with the fewest votes in each poll will be eliminated. So make sure you get out there and read, comment and vote for your favorites!

The poll will close Thursday Feb 9th at 9pm EST. Those with bouncing immunity have until an hour before that to get me their pick for who they are handing it off to this week.

I'm really annoyed with myself for having to bye-out, but I woke up after being sick for 4 days and realised there were only a few hours to the deadline :/

I'll stick around though, this was my first idol attempt and I enjoyed seeing how far I could push myself. Maybe there will be a secret back door I can bribe find my way through at somne stage.

The link just keeps telling me to install JavaScript. Is it safe to mark it as a trusted site? Do I need to look at it? Should I temporarily allow it and then disable it again? What exactly is it a link to, anyway?

I did allow it to speak to its "cdn" server already, and it's not trying to connect to anything I recognize as a tracking server. But, um... JavaScript? Every single scrap of page is written in JavaScript? What happened to CSS?

...I feel like I should be demanding it get off my lawn, except I think JavaScript might just be a bit older.

You don't need to look at it. It's a link to the Bishop Allen song "News from Your Bed" on Grooveshark.com. I couldn't find a decent video of it on youtube. It's a good site, and a band that I do like, and might be good for a laugh given the topic this week, but nothing you need.

My personal speculation was that the Gatekeepers would wait until the byes and immunities were gone (i.e. first week once we got inside the top 100), so people couldn't "jump the fence" and get around the Gatekeepers.

Perhaps more special powers will come into play?

People, not contestants, who vote on the entries and e-mail Gary with their choices. The bottom group drops out, much as with contestant-only voting -- no polls, no set number of people to be eliminated, just a range like Gary specified then.

It's more difficult because, in general, this far into the season we mostly know what the other contestants are looking for. We don't know what the Gatekeepers are looking for. And the Gatekeepers aren't allowed to tell us who they are.

(There's a better explanation in one of the previous Green Rooms (I think), but I can't find it at the moment. Hopefully one of the people who aren't new this season will let us know if I missed something?)

Gary hinted at them with the Open Topic, the whole "Bring your A-game" has been a sign of gatekeepers in the past, and open topics have generally been special voting (gatekeeper or contestant only). But I figured he was being too obvious. Gary is never too obvious, he wants us to not expect the gatekeepers.

In the past, they were also near a certain point in regards to number of contestants. Like going into the Top 100 or the Top 50. Not always, but I've watched that happen a lot. Again, he's not doing any of the obvious stuff this season to keep us on our toes!

I noticed that I wasn't the only traveler who found that topic hard to work with-- a lot of the other byes listed that same reason.

I checked our local paper via the Internet a couple of times, but it offered nothing inspiring. At all.

So, better to enjoy my sister's wedding and visiting family.

I've seen some creative uses of the prompt thus far, though. Off to read more!

Aww, thanks! I'm not disappointed or anything. I mean, I nearly made it to the top 100! :D That was a ton better than the last time I did this in 2008, where I think I only made it to round six! So when Idol comes around again, I will certainly be there!

I find it hard to read all the entries, and we are retired... Ok I paint, and do other 'stuff' but its hard to find the time to do it all.
I just about made it through the stories. Some great variety in them, some tear jerkers, some rants, amazing diversity in the work. Now I discover the horror of'Gatekeepers'. But will soldier on bravely, with stiff upper lip and my store of completely useless knowledge to see me through. By the time the subject comes out have usually had three glasses of wine for my Friday night outing. So regard it blearily and with false bravado. Good luck to all,
