Green Room - Week 11 - Day 7

It’s “Poll Closing Day”/the Day of Doom for some.

Who will rise? Who will fall? Who will win a free set of steak knives? And who will use those knives to take out some of their competition?

Only the Shadow knows. Possibly the Vorlon as well.

All I know is that I’m still exhausted from the Mountain Goats show last night. Which was awesome, thanks for asking!

If you haven’t voted yet – do so. There are many folks out there hoping to get your vote!

If you are having trouble with the poll (as some are) and it’s only registering a vote or two, check with me and I can take a look to make sure they are all getting through. But as far as I’ve been able to determine from the past couple weeks of this happening, it appears to be a LJ surface glitch, and the votes have all been showing up in the count. If you really need it to settle your head though, send me an email and I’ll go over them for you.

Voting seems down this week, or is it? I've gotten three tribes done, I'll try to finish the others tonight. I may not make it through all :/

I've had very busy evenings full of job searching, and very busy days at work. My job is trying to kill me.

A few I've read that I think deserve more attention (you didn't exactly ask, but I'm doing it anyway). Thephantomq, unmowngrass, Copyright1983, sarcasmoqueen, michikatinski and sonophax. Like I said, I'm not done reading and I have the first and last tribe to finish still (I've read in spurts), but those were people I thought should be doing better this week.

Now I better finish getting ready for work. Blah.

I was noticing the same. At least as of last check there's a gap as large as forty-some people between the tribes' total participating voters.

Today is my day off. I was awakened by the phone ringing. Evidently I slept through half my dental appointment. They said if I could make it to the office in less than 10 minutes, they'd be able to squeeze me in. I don't think I've gotten dressed and out the door so fast in my entire life.

It's one thing feeling like a pinball at your job. It a whole other thing feeling like a pinball on your day off :p

Sorry I've been non-existent for a while. My fiance has been sick with pneumonia, so any free time I had at all went to taking care of him, not that I mind nursing my love back to health. Today is his first day back at work. Hopefully he'll continue to be ok.

It's lonely and quiet in the office today. My office mate is working from home and my other coworker next door is working downtown. Well, I guess it'll make reading that much easier. Today is read and vote as much as humanly possible day!

"Mountain Goats"? Gary, you seem to find the bands with the weirdest names possible! However, being a Goat under several venues (I'm Capricorn, and also born in the Chinese year of the Goat, sometimes referred to as the Sheep or Ram), I heartily approve!

I just woke up, at like 1:30PM. A morning person, I am not. Anyways, I think shimmerdream & tjoel2 could use some more attention this week for writing awesome stuff. :)

I haven't gotten enough coffee yet, so my brain is still somewhat in Fuzz Mode. Go away, Brain Fuzzies! At least the water in my sink worked this morning, unlike yesterday.

Argh. I could use some steak knives. This morning I awoke to some credit card fraud - somehow, my debit card got highjacked and someone booked a ticket on brazilian airlines for $2,000. Thank goodness I'm 100% protected since I reported it, but still. What a hassle! And it's not like, being unemployed, I can spare the money for a week or so while it gets sorted. Sigh.

I feel a little anxious, not just because i'm in tribe redemption and have a very real chance to get voted out, but because I'm not sure that people are actually *getting* my entry. It's not super strong, and the connection isn't super obvious unless you've been reading my stuff from day 1, and even then it's kindof a stretch.

And I feel really weird dropping any more hints on it than that. I really should have thrown in a link before the deadline. siigh...

Reading and voting = done! I managed to make it through all the entries, even though there was a good chunk where I couldn't comment because I was pressed for time. Still, it's an achievement for me XD

Lots of great entries this week and it was nice to see such diversity in subject matter; a great thing about having an Open Topic week. Entries I particularly enjoyed belong to: milk_and_glass, indyangel (it makes me sad that they're towards the bottom of my tribe), belgatherial, emo_snal, dslartoo (if you're a dog owner/lover, you must read his entry), alleyalligator, sarcasmqueen, and porn_this_way. But, like I said - LOTS of great entries this week :D

Yesterday I was told by an academic how awful and amateur my writing is. I just wanted to comment here and say that while I do appreciate concrit, I appreciate the upbeat feeling of this contest much more.

I feel there is a certain way to give criticism, but this person kind of sucked at being cool about it. It's a good thing I'm a pretty chill person.
