Green Room - Week 11 - Day 3

We're dog sitting this weekend. I forgot what it was like to have a dog, or more to a point, a Jack Russell puppy. You know, someone who is full of energy and just wants to run around all the time, and get into things that you have no idea how they got into?

Someone that you have to keep a constant eye on, because you have no idea what they are going to try to pull next?

But that can also be incredibly sweet when you least expect it?

I'm pretty sure this puppy has the qualifications to be an Idol contestant!! ;)

quick question here (since I'm not sure how soon it might be seen in the Green Room):
how does everyone feel about internet acronyms being used in idol entries?

the specific one in question is iirc, for "if I recall/remember correctly".
are they okay to use, or do you prefer things be rewritten so they're avoided or not needed?

I think it depends on the context. If you're, say, describing a chat or an email or web related stuff, I wouldn't mind seeing them. If it was a more traditional piece, I think I'd rather see it spelled out. But, unless it was excessive (like the entry started to look like txt speak), it wouldn't cause me to not vote for it.

I scrapped the draft I've been working on for my entry, and started a new one very very late last night.

I've had a really difficult couple of weeks with a whole bunch of different things relating to health and family, but I am trying to hang in and keep writing.

Might be in Baltimore later this week - anything must-see (or must eat/drink) there that y'all recommend?

Jack Russell puppues are FULL. ON. I am sooo glad for my chilled German Shepherd puppy. Who could eat your Jack Russell for breakfast. But wouldn't because he's a total wuss who hasn't worked out yet that he's supposed to be well 'ard and can take anyone and anything and instead prefers to be afraid of it all. And tomorrow he gets his second set of jabs, which is going to be fun because he's still really sore round where they did the first lot. Yay.

I have written nothing yet. I was out most of yesterday and as a consequence my youngest child has been very clingy and not allowed me to do anything productive involving keyboards. A bye this week is increasingly likely.

I was going to say the same about Jack Russell pups. They are Full On. I love big pups who don't realize how big and bad they could be. Annabelle is the same way.

I've written 3 pieces so far, but writing my 4th today. I think this will totally be the one to go with. Yep indeed I do (or I hope so at least).

I really planned to write my entry this weekend... but so far all I've done is read Hunger Games and part of Catching Fire (until almost 5am last night, when I had to be up at 9:00!) Now I've spent the last two hours staring at a blank Word doc... I think I'm going to give up soon and go back to reading!

I have a 14 week old Pug puppy, so I feel your pain! Although you get to give your puppy back at the end of the weekend, mines going to be in that feral puppy stage for quite a lot longer yet!

Puppies are insane. I always think how badly I want another one... And then I remember how hard they are. My girl is almost 3 and still acts like a wild puppy!

My aunt and uncle had a Jack Russell once - named Jack, heh - that was a royal pain in the ass. He bit me on the face once, which made my aunt and uncle and my parents furious with him, and when he wanted to play catch, he would chase after the ball and bring it to you, but when he brought it to you, he would never let it go, so you had to wrestle it out of his slobbery mouth. But yeah, lotsssss of energy so I don't eny you at all, LOL.

This week, I am determined to stay on top of my reading! I want to try and get a lot of entries read before the poll, so I can leave comments as I go since I've been lacking in that department. I may even put up a rec list when I'm done! *fingers crossed*

Here's a random question for you Idolers: What's your Idol-writing-space like? Do you write in bed? On the couch? At a desk? Lying in a hammock somewhere? Surrounded by piles and piles of stuff?

I start out on the couch, and sometimes I'll write in bed, but I almost always end up at a desk typing it up. The space also has to be relatively tidy around me otherwise it'll annoy me *is weird*

I almost always write at my dining room table. It's so I can keep an eye on Annabelle (who lays on the couch) and because it's a nice seat (I need back and neck support for my head condition).

If my roomie is really making me awkward, I go into my room with my back leaning up against my bed, but I find my butt falls asleep easily and it's not as comfortable.

I have to have it tidy around me too. Otherwise, I distract myself with cleaning up. My kitchen table is always tidy, it's a pet peeve of mine to have anything but kitchen table stuff on the table, so besides my laptop and current drink/food, it's clear at all times if I can help it.

I think I'm aiming for an award for the most Open Topic Entries Written in a Week. Seriously... I have three mostly written ad will write number 4 today. I think number 4 is the right way to go, the others were just warming up ;)

I have sooooo many ideas I want to write about, and having a focus usually means I can rule some things out and narrow it down. But leaving it open meant my mind was going in a hundred different directions. Not a bad problem to have though. I'd prefer it to be that way. Let's just hope I end up actually getting one submitted. java_fiend and I have already managed to lose the whole morning and we have chores to run. He's the greatest <3

I really don't want to go to work tomorrow. A meeting with my boss and Evil One is scheduled tomorrow and I am dreading like that nothing else.

For the first time I've done a complete new entry after already having one done or almost done. The new entry has to be told this week, really, if it's going to be told at all. The first one was really punchy (not entirely sure if I wanted to share it) but is something I could come back to and tell at any time if I wanted to, I think.

Huskies are also full of energy and very smart. I had issues with my Hunter (part husky) being too smart for his own good. He could escape from anything!

And now I have entry number 5 in mind. Like I need it. I could write about Hunter's adventures sometime :)

Hello GR! Hubby and I are driving back home from an overnight in Louisville. Just saw a production of "Boeing, Boeing" and it was hilarious! I've already got my entry posted, much to my own amazement. More fiction, but inspired by recent real life events (mostly kinda). It will be nice to get ahead on reading a bit this week!

It's the first Sims story I've done in forever. I worked on it most of the day yesterday and all day today.

I originally conceived of it as a possibility for the "counter intuitive" topic, but didn't have the time/motivation/interest to finish it that week.

But it's been a very nice one overall. pixie117 and I got a little bit of stuff done that needed to be done. Other than that, we made dinner, took Annabelle to the dog park and have spent most of the weekend lounging and goofing of. As usual. So it's been good stuff.

I'm just not diggin' the idea of going back to work tomorrow. It feels like the weekend just started! lol... But there are bills to pay, right?

For now, we'll probably work on our entries and keep hanging out until bedtime. Which is relatively early for me since the workday starts so early tomorrow.

I did get mine written early but had three to mull over, and still found it hard to make up my mind!

Frivolous,?? freaky but factual?? or poetic and erotic? Went with one that was none of these. Instead a story I wrote prompted by a character, or several characters. Based on fact,(very loosely though) so fiction.

I get the self doubt after, should I have used the other one?

Now just have to keep ahead of the reading.
