Sorry for the delay this morning, I just got off the phone with a potential new job offer. It's pretty exciting. The North Koreans are offering a pretty good overall incentive package, and I definitely have to consider my options at this point. I think it could be a good career move.

Voting is still pretty slow, and there are a couple more days to go, so if you see someone who wrote something you love, who isn't doing as well - encourage people to read their stuff! You never know when you will turn someone on to another writer that they will love!

That said, I finally consolidated my student loans and applied for income based repayment, and have caught up on all the TV I've missed.

I made sure to watch the Finale before bed last night, phew! Overall, I was pretty happy with the outcome, although there was someone else I might have preferred, but it is what it is.

60 Minutes ran late, and so my DVR missed about the last 20 minutes of the reunion episode, but that's not a huge thing since it's just more chatter and teasers about the next season!

I did quite a lot of gift-wrapping yesterday, so it's feeling much more Christmassy now at Case del Ro. =)

I watched Survivor last night, and was VERY disappointed with the winner. Although I was very happy the guy in 3rd didn't get ANY votes at all.

I've read 3 tribes so far. being off this week< I should have more time to devote to the next couple of tribes, but I'm happy we have more time than usual.

Today is the first day since the surgery that I woke up without any pain in my hand, so that's a good thing!

Oh! And we finally have some snow! So I feel a LOT more Christmassy!

I've got mixed feelings about the finale (aside from the fact it ran too late--the spousebeast had to be at work at 5am, which means the alarm clock went off at 3:30).

Quiet weekend. I finished a set of silk embroidery ornaments I've hauled around unfinished since college (which means they've weathered a marriage, 2 births, a divorce, another marriage, and lived in 6 states), and now I'm on a bit of an ornament-making tear. I'm running out of space, and Kent says there is so much glitter around the art room (and, conversely, the rest of the house, since that stuff migrates) that it looks like David Bowie farted.

The man's got a way with words. ;)

Good Morning, Good Idolers!!!

I didn't get to watch the season finale as the sister-unit had gotten me tickets to go see one of my favorite artists ever and the show was last night. pixie117 and I headed up to LA for show and didn't end up getting home until just about midnight. 430 came WAY too early this morning, I tell you. But a little sleep deprivation is soooo worth it. Such a great show!!!!

But here I am... shackled to my cubicle as always. Though, on the plus side of the ledger, I learned today that I have Friday AND next Monday off! Freaking HUZZAH for 4-day weekends! Now I'm just sweating it out and hoping that we get the bonuses I *hope* we're getting this year.

As usual, 'twas a lovely weekend overall. At one point, we ran over to PetSmart to pick up food for her furkids... Annabelle struts in just eating up all of the attention people are heaping on her (she always seems to be the center of attention when we cruise into PetSmart)... In the store, they have a Santa sitting there that your furkid take a holiday picture with. Anyway, Annabelle turns around and sees the Santa Claus and just about soils herself. She can't get away from Santa fast enough. It was too freaking hilarious to see something *that* large totally terrified of ol' St. Nick.

I had to say goodbye to pixie117 this morning as she's heading back to Missouri to spend the holiday with her family. So y'know, while the cat's away and all that. Kidding. I hope she has a great time.

Other than that... just the usual around here! I still need to get crackin' on the reading/voting thing and will do so tonight!

I love the expression "furkid." I don't intend on having any children of the human variety at this point, so I constantly tell my mother that all she's getting are grand-dachshunds (I've got one, and my sister has one.) I've also used fur-baby, but since the beast is now 2, I think she can graduate. :)

I don't think it's ever going to feel like christmas around here. It's too warm and pretty out! I finally finished my candy-and-cookie-making last night, and today I'll box everything up and send it to our various parental units and my aunt and uncle. I doubt all these senior citizens will really appreciate a box full of sweets, but since my knitting projects sort of crashed and burned it was the best I could do.

I know this is off topic, but I was eliminated a couple weeks ago and with end-of-semester craziness finishing my senior thesis, I didn't say my farewells. But now that the semester is over, I wanted to say goodbye properly and thank all who read my entries and supported me. I also wanted to inform any of you who would like to continue reading my blog post-competition that for reasons totally unrelated to the competition, I am switching to wordpress. That does seem random - have you been shaking your finger at anyone, like naughty kids or pets? Did you sleep on your arm funny? Is anything else numb or tingly?

You might consider seeing a professional if it persists for more than a few days. It could be a pinched nerve or the start of carpal tunnel syndrome, or it could even be due to some vitamin deficiencies. *shrug* I'm not a professional, though!

I'm still working on commenting on Idol entries. I'd like to comment on everyone.

However, there are several other "get ready for Christmas" things that I am also behind on so I am hoping to do both lists in the next day or so.

Ugh!

I needed to go to Walmart but the parking lot at Walmart is almost completely full (which is never the case this time of day) so I had to skip it.

Everyone is well in my house (as opposed to last week when vomit was the name) so that is good.

My biggest wish right now: 2 working cars. One for my husband to take to work and the other so that I could risk taking my little girl to her Brownie scout party tonight. She's going to be upset if she misses it.

I probably shouldn't go. The car tail light is out and the steering is acting weird on the "bad" car but she really, really wants to go to this party.

Transportation...sometimes seems the key to everything.

Hello GR! I'm not posting from work like I usually do, but from Chicago O'Hare airport where I'm on a layover. It's a quick little jump from here to St. Louis thankfully. I slept about 95% of the flight here. Good thing since I left my book at home :/

I picked up another at the airport, but even as I adore science and I adore dogs, it's really dry and states most of what I already knew in a very boring way. Bleh.

But the toilets at this airport have a really nifty feature where you wave your hand over a sensor and the toilet seat cover changes itself... It just seems so odd to me... But nifty I suppose! I'm easily amused. Where does the old seat cover go? Where does the new one come from? Or is it an elaborate hoax to just reuse dirty covers and make you think it's a new one?

I guess I'll never know.

Next subject. One not pondering toilets.

I'm excited to eat Steak and Shake when I get home. That and St. Louis style pizza. You have no idea how much I miss the food...

Honest to goodness, the only time I have ever watched a Survivor was like maybe Season one...It was on a TV in the waiting room at the emergency vet office when I had a sick kitty!
LOST was more my thing if I wanted to see people on an island fend for survival. (hotter people too!)
Anyway, life is very hectic here. Not much time for LJ...I do however play "Words w Friends" like a maniac on FB.

My brother and SIL's preemie baby is hanging in there. She's 3.5 lbs, on an RX for the hole in her heart, IV via the bellybutton for nourishment. She does open her eyes and look around. Every day she gets "touch time", when my SIL / bro' can hold her for a while. The Mothership is in Tampa with them now, getting to see the bay-bay.

Would really love to experience that part of the world (South), and their food. We keep getting talking books by a writer who writes about places there,? James Patterson? We listen on long journeys, and Baton Rouge and all those places are familiar, as is the food I would like to try. What does St. Louis pizza have on it?

I have just made a 'late' cake with brandy nuts, fruit and sherry...want to nibble it, but have to decorate instead.
Only someone mad as I am could think of eating cake at breakfast time.

St. Louis style pizza is the crispy, thin square cut slices. But the caveat of getting it in St. Louis is Provel cheese. It's the only place you can get it and it's soooo good. That's what makes the pizza for me :)

Look up a recipe for gooey butter cake. Another St. Louis tradition. Sadly most recipes list using a cake mix so I'm not sure if it'll taste the same as the kind you can get at little cafe's in St. Louis... But it's utterly delightful and unique if done right :)

I lived in the South for awhile too. I love Southern food.

Have i listed my pre-vactaion preparations yet? In the next 4 days I have to get 2 websites up to functional level finish 1 crocheted glove, and construct another set start to finish. Meanwhile helping the husband pepare the croissants in our absence, as well as get the apartment cleaned. We do not want to leave the flour beach that has occupied our kitchen and dining room and parts of our office to fester in our absence.

*shudder* This is going to be one hectic week :/

My Christmas tree and decorations are up and presents for my nieces and nephew are wrapped and sitting under it. I think it's going to be a horrible Christmas this year compared to last because the weather has been, well, horrible :(

Besides I have been really sick.
Haveing otten over the nasty flue and nursed my youngest threw it my middle child caught something else. Rash, feaver, headeche, food taking a return passage.
last night me and the other 2 came down with it and I had the additional issue of my system deciding to give me the benifits of an enema with out the hose.
I think my system is settling down so I'm munching some frosted minny wheats (generic) dry and hoping it does not book a return trip.
I would be careful with the north Koreans what with the new leader and all.

No - he wasn't on it. However, the History Channel had a semi-reality show starring him and Dennis Anderson (he's a Monster Truck driver) called Around the World in 80 Ways. It was quite fun!

Boston Rob is still my favorite Survivor alumnus. Honestly, even though you know he's full of sh!t most of the time, he does it in a charming way. He reminds me of my brother in that respect, LOL.

Well this should have been a quick jump to St. Louis. The computers at O'Hare went down and we have been sitting on this plane longer than the flight itself. And it's likely to take a lot longer too. Their computers went down and lost everything, they are re-checking all the bags now.

Needless to say I'm grumpy. And hungry. And nowhere near getting the delicious food I have been saving my appetite for upon arrival to my destination. I was so annoyed when a woman leaving this plane to board another about beat me to death with her bag as if I wasn't even there. She just kept at it and like I had anywhere to go confined to my seat. She was European of some sort. Damn Europeans :P

Oy, the last few days have kicked my butt. I still need to pick up a couple of presents, and how am I going to do that when I'm working all week AND I'm on the closing shift Christmas Eve????

I stayed up to watch the finale. The winner was one of two I'd pegged to win ;)

Gotta figure out what to have for dinner. If I had half a brain I'd go back out and actually pick up those presents, but I'm too hungry and cold :brrr:
