Green Room - Week 7 - Day 7
Dec. 12th, 2011 12:25 amI'd bet 10 thousand dollars of Mitt Romney's money that you haven't finished your reading and voting for this week yet. But there's some good news - you have until Monday evening to do so! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/506043.html So there is still time!
Which means there is also still time for you to mention anyone who might not be doing as well as you think they should be doing! Or, some of your favorites for the week, even if they are doing OK.
***
How was your weekend? What would you bet 10 thousand dollars that you did, and would do again?!?

Date: 2011-12-12 05:35 am (UTC)I'll take $10 000 of Mitt Romney's money anyday. I'd like to bet that Newt Gingrich will go the way of the other frontrunners, at some point. Or maybe that's just what I hope will happen...
Aaaanyway. Not as if I have any say over the matter.
You're absolutely right, I've not finished reading, but I'm nearly done. I've managed to comment on more than last week, which is a PLUS.
Can I just give a bit of a shout out for
This weekend was super, because I got to catch up with my parents and my sister and her family, and my children got to play with their cousins, which they LOVED. It was great, and I needed the happy :)

Date: 2011-12-12 05:51 am (UTC)I wouldn't bet any money on this happening again ever, but I spent Friday running around doing house stuff (something like thirteen to fourteen hours of house stuff; got up at eight AM, finally got home around 10:30PM), nearly fell off my chair trying to read so gave up and went to bed, finally got a little reading on Saturday but again nearly fell out of the chair falling asleep, and this morning managed to read half my Tribe before I had to leave for work.
I'm reading between laundry, dinner, and dishes tonight, but I'm fading fast. Perhaps more before work tomorrow?
I apologize in advance to anyone I miss.

Date: 2011-12-12 06:48 am (UTC)My weekend has been HELL. I've been working my rear end off (out by 7:30am and back well after midnight each day), and our heat has been not working, though they've come out to fix it twice, it's still not working, so this is night #3 in an apt below 50 degrees.
To add insult to injury, my door knob broke some time yesterday and so I came home and was unable to get into my bedroom. The same bedroom that contains all my blankets and warm clothes and medications and heating pad. And the house was 52 degrees and dropping. Emergency maintenance guy took 2 hours to call back (left message at 1 and 1:30, he called back at 3), and he talked me through breaking in with a butter knife. At which point I notice marking on the door and jam that tell me it's been done before.
Thankfully the motor on the furnace will be replaced Monday morning, along with my door knob. Still, I'm heating my room with tea lights and sleeping in double layers of flannel pjs and cotton pjs and 5 layers of fleece blankets topped by a super thin poly-blend quilt.
Oh, and the space heaters aren't working, I was half an hour late to work yesterday because I was up so late trying to get the furnace and three space heaters to work and set my alarm for the wrong 12 hours, and my exam was moved up an hour tomorrow, so I had to give up some of my work hours tomorrow.
Stress meter maxed out on Friday and has kept blowing its top all weekend.

My weekend definitely wasn't the $10,000 success I had been hoping for, because the weather was not cooperating with us. Cold and windy and rainy days took the fun out of our outdoor activities.

Date: 2011-12-12 08:55 am (UTC)I had a wonderful weekend. Saturday was the annual Southern Culture on the Skids holiday concert. The spousebeast proved how truly comitted he is (or needs to be) by watching me get up on stage and dance with the band's hot, red haired bass player (think Kate Pierson-esque), a 6' 4" drag queen who bears a stunning resemblance to Wynonna Judd, and one of his supervisors from work...and didn't immediately ask for a divorce. Sunday involved a carb orgy at Ye Olde Waffle Shoppe and a visit from my favorite bad influence to drink really good eggnog and watch The Muppets.
If you have a local dairy, I cannot recommend seeking it out highly enough. The milk we've been getting is the best I've ever had, and their eggnog is AMAZING. Plus, it's kind of cool to get your milk in glass bottles. But maybe I'm just a wierdo that way. :)

Date: 2011-12-12 01:17 pm (UTC)If only, eh?
As a professional organizer, I'm under all kinds of pressure to be, well, organized at all times. This holiday season, I'm buckling a bit under the pressure now that the added layer of life called "LJ Idol" has entered the picture!
So, my mantra is "Breathe, nodressrehersal. It'll all get done, it'll all be fine. Breathe." Feel free to use it (insert your own name if you must, but I certainly wouldn't mind the extra reminders for me to breathe. Just sayin'...)
no subject
Date: 2011-12-12 02:29 pm (UTC)I need that mantra, but sadly I doubt my jon wants me to breathe. It takes too much time that I should be working. Seriously, it feels like that some weeks.

Date: 2011-12-12 02:55 pm (UTC)I dunno them not keeping her is due to politics or really due to funding, I know that there were other managers rooting for her, but I dunno if her boss likes her personally...and he may not have championed for her, which could have been a factor...(the other managers did though)
Just tired of coming back to same company every two years to the same floor (not always same group but sometimes) cause this company's dysfunctional hiring or non-hiring practices.
Otherwise...the weekend was so-so...the stuff above overshadowed everything else

Date: 2011-12-12 03:31 pm (UTC)I'd bet $10k that the hubby and I drove from central KY to central FL in one sitting on Thursday, and drove back in one sitting yesterday. AND I'll bet that we are doing it again two weeks from now, although thankfully for a longer stay in Orlando (a full week, as opposed to 3.5 days). We got home around 1:15 AM this morning, and stayed up until 3:00 AM so I could bake cookies for this morning's Christmas Cookie Swap at work, and also so we could watch the finale for The Amazing Race.
Needless to say, both my brain and my tuchas are exhausted!

Date: 2011-12-12 03:36 pm (UTC)Meanwhile, housemates decorated for Christmas. It was my first time ever going out to buy a tree (let alone decorate one). It was... an experience. I was kinda hoping that Christmas music would be playing while we were decorating, but there was no music. So, it just felt like a chore. I was trying to find clear ornaments so that I could make Chanukah ornaments for myself, but the closest I got to clear ornaments was ALREADY DECORATED clear ornaments. How helpful. -_-
::sigh:: Sorry I'm a Ranty McRant pants this morning. If one more person tells me there's a War on Christmas, I'm going to rub their noses in it!
