One of the wonderful attributes of the holiday season is seeing how many individuals, and groups, out there are doing “Give Back” campaigns to help those less fortunate.

There are a lot of great projects, doing good work.

Today the husband made pastries for his usual cafe delivery and also a little holiday market that his day job puts on. Tomorrow we have our usual market as well as a trade fair to sell at. The poor guy doesn't get any sleep on weekends like this. Thankfully a vacation is right around the corner!

Well today is the office Christmas party where we go and spend a few hours out on a yacht. I love the ocean and still fascinated by where I live, but it's going to be freezing. Yes, it does get cold in Southern California. It's on the 40's this morning and the high is only 70. Trust me, when out on the water, 70 is chilly.

But I'm betting I don't get to go with everyone else. We have to get a draft of our investment package to the big boss today and my boss has given me none of his stuff. My stuff was done in September. No kidding. It was supposed to be done then. So I'll likely have to scramble last minute with his stuff and miss the Christmas party. I'm used to this by now though :)

But yay for a fun weekend, right? Christmas party with Java's friends tomorrow! :)

There's only one week left, so I hope the weekend shifters bring me some good stuff because I have big plans for a bridge and a tower and and and... [To catch you up: instead of the big barrels to collect food in, donations are used as building blocks to make a display in the lobby. I get to play with blocks (food)! It is pretty awesome, and people come in and see what we need - boxes, cans, etc - and will bring in stuff to help. Even visitors come back with bags of stuff.]

It is a weekend of Not Much At All for us. There will be reading & voting, of course, and "Dexter" watching. And crocheting. A lot of crocheting. I'm determined to get this stupid blanket done this weekend.

I'm already really worried about the poll this week. It's Friday afternoon already and I'm dead bottom with only 2 votes. I'm... not sure what I've done wrong or different this week, but I guess... if you have any comments then you're welcome to let me know so that I can improve my writing.

I'm making bread today! Also making bourbon balls, since they have to age, and at least mixing up one other cookie recipe. Probably pizzelles, because we can fire up the pizzelle iron and crank out a stack whenever we have time, and they keep forever.

Hey, I really value shop assistants who are friendly and cheerful! It always brightens my day a bit, because I know how easy it is to become a sour-face in the face of rude customers.

My weekend looks like it will be pretty full, and mostly full of yays!
Tonight my husband and I are going to see the Muppet Movie - definite yay!
Tomorrow I am going to a spa with 3 girlfriends and getting a facial - super yay! They are all getting massages, but I have a bad back and find that lying on my stomach for an hour certainly doesn't help it.
After the spa, we're going to have lunch somewhere, and then my husband and I must do all the Christmas shopping - BOO!! Nothing like a mall on a Saturday afternoon. Assuming it doesn't get postponed again, I'm having my surgery next Friday and that will take me out of commission until pretty much New Year's. But anyway...
I've only voted in my own tribe so far, so I will definitely be doing some more voting in the evenings.
Sunday will be spent at dance rehearsal.
So, yeah, lots of fun stuff!

The one nice thing about working in retail is that my days off are usually weekdays, so if I have to go to another store or the mall on my day off, at least it's not during the rush times! I remember when I had a regular office type job that shopping on the weekends sucked.

Good morning, Green Room!

Spent the last week up in Cheyenne with my best friend, then loaded up a uhaul to move her down here to Albuquerque. I'm so excited to have her here with me. We've spent the last three days loading, driving, and unloading the uhaul and today we're going to pamper ourselves with pedicures and massages. Can't wait!!

This weekend my husband and I will be going with good friends to Harpers Ferry, WV for their Olde Tyme Christmas activities! It's a historic town with a lot of stuff dating back to the Civil War, so they decorate the whole town and people dress up in period clothing and they have various winter activities. My favorite is the nighttime ghost tour!

I'm getting together a whole bunch of little gifts that I'm sending to people in the holiday_wishes community. I wish I had more money because I LOVE GIVING GIFTS.

I also need to sort out what I'm getting my parents for Christmas, plus my one brother (Music Brother, if you read my entry this week). Everyone else is pretty much taken care of.

Boring stuff like laundry also definitely on the agenda!

I got some really good news this afternoon, but I'm not allowed to say what it is yet. All I can say right now is that this week (where week equals the past 10 days) has been horrid for me, and this news was a much needed relief.

Today I ordered whole wheat pancakes from the internet, using an online food delivery site called seamless (http://www.seamless.com/food-delivery/). At 2:45AM my time zone. That technically counts as today, right? The novelty of such a food at such an hour was too much to resist. Also, I was actually rather hungry, lol.

My plans for this weekend? I'm not quite sure yet. I will be obsessively checking the poll, which may or may not make my world a little more joyous, depending on how many votes I'm getting. :P
