Green Room - Week 6 - Day 7
Dec. 5th, 2011 10:20 amPeople have been asking if there will be an extension. There have been a number of comments on that subject, so I figured that I would go ahead and clear it up:
The deadline is tonight at 9pm EST: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/503581.html
Hopefully LJ will continue to cooperate, now that the Russian elections have passed (well, until March). That is, if that was actually the reason and not Frank demanding more stock options and a better parking spot!
That said – how was your weekend? Did you do anything interesting? Or rather, anything interesting that wouldn’t be sent directly to your work spam filters? ;)
***
For the benefit of those who might be pressed for time for tonight’s deadline – are there any pieces that you would suggest that they check out first? A “you can’t miss this” or a “this person isn’t getting anywhere near the attention that they deserve!” I’m quite sure they are out there.

Date: 2011-12-05 03:20 pm (UTC)Yay, first! :)
Good morning, Green Room! My weekend was all right, even if half of it didn't turn out like I expected. Annual White Elephant gift exchange was fun as per usual. It being Monday sucks, though. The only thing good about today is that I'm working from home.
Frank totally deserves a better parking spot. I'm just sayin.

Date: 2011-12-05 03:31 pm (UTC)I find it amusing that the chosen employees (who get to use the spot for one month) really don't DO anything other than being lucky enough to have their names pulled at random out of the pool of employees!

Date: 2011-12-05 03:28 pm (UTC)My weekend was ok except for waking up very early on Sunday morning with severe pain in my jaw. I'm pretty sure it was TMJ but I've never had that happen before. Not sure if I should follow up with my PCP or my dentist because it isnt hurting now, of course...

Date: 2011-12-05 03:33 pm (UTC)Other than that not much going on here other than getting ready for holidays, the usual scramble at work because stress levels go up around the holidays. I'm taking christmas week off so that is something to really look forward to! Then I actually might be able to chat in here and not just leave a quick hi and bye! Grin.
I hope all are well!

Date: 2011-12-05 03:37 pm (UTC)I'm on vacation this week!
One of SO's coworkers offered to cut and color my hair. We're supposed to be meeting sometime today. I'm horrible at trying to guess what looks good on me. This will be interesting...
Other than that? I've only managed to read two tribes. I'm hoping I can squeeze the rest in before the deadline.

Date: 2011-12-05 03:39 pm (UTC)Good luck with your hair appointment! I need mine cut so badly. I really should make an appointment for this afternoon.

Also, I have a final Weds and one on Sat and a huge paper due in one week.

Date: 2011-12-05 03:42 pm (UTC)Went to a christmas party saturdaynight for the husband's work- was fun but much less exciting than last year. Then yesterday went to a post-thanksgiving-pre-christmas-friendsgiving event yesterday which was enjoyable.
Currently trying to figure out a reliable way to avoid upper back pain this winter... I huddle when I'm cold, and i'm just about always cold, and I seem to have popped a rib out of place twice already this season. Considering getting a kneeling chair but those always talk about relieving lower back pain, rather than upper.
Thoughts?
Looking forward to tomorrow's proclaimed christmas-crochet-fest

Date: 2011-12-05 03:54 pm (UTC)I will say LJ's antics are partially the reason I won't finish reading. I had time on Friday to read and LJ was being a jerk of course. Then I worked on stuff I had to do on Friday night and Saturday morning. I helped Java as best I could on Saturday night with his stuff and Sunday was gone before I knew it.
So how was my weekend? Not long enough :/
Is it Friday yet?
People I think should be doing better?
I have a partial rec list from those I've read... Maybe I'll post it later, but I think everyone else is doing okay...
Back to work. I repeat... Is it Friday yet?

Date: 2011-12-05 04:46 pm (UTC)I wrote zombie apocalypse this week, so you should definitely read mine ;)
The weekend is never long enough *sigh* Not even when it's four days long.

Don't hate me.
Date: 2011-12-05 04:15 pm (UTC)I'm afraid I don't have a Rec List, though.
Other than that, not much to tell. Got a lot of bills to pay this month, but I won't end up out in the street anytime soon.

Date: 2011-12-05 04:19 pm (UTC)Sunday we drove to a town three hours away to but on an polocrosse exhibition and beginners clinic. It was loads of fun and lots of enthusiasm from all the kids and adults that were there.
Today I'm sort of feeling unwell but need to go out and pick up some things.
I have been able to do a fair amount of reading but LJ wouldn't let me comment much.

Date: 2011-12-05 04:20 pm (UTC)The LJ downtime did affect my reading a bit but I'm hoping to do some more today. :)

Date: 2011-12-05 04:24 pm (UTC)Had a lovely, quiet weekend with the spousebeast. I did venture out Sunday for a needlework workshop with Diana Rupp. She's written 2 books, has a line of patterns for McCalls, contributed to BUST, founded MAKE workshop....need I say that I am a HUGE fan?
I was also the only person there who had any idea who she is.
Did I mention that the workshop was free? And only attended by 6 other people?
It was fun, and she was so sweet. I am on a creative high now...:)

Date: 2011-12-05 04:26 pm (UTC)The weekend? Well, Saturday night we celebrated my grandparents' fifty-somethingth anniversary (nobody's quite sure how many it actually is) at Benihana. I'd only been there once before (for my 21st birthday), and it was just as fun as I'd remembered. You haven't lived until you've been to a restaurant where throwing food at the chef is not only welcome, but encouraged.
(Gee, I wish we'd done it the week before--I'm pretty sure it would've been a better entry than the one I posted!)

Date: 2011-12-05 04:35 pm (UTC)The weekend was cold and gray here, with some flurries here and there but nothing that accumulated to anything more than a dusting of snow. Getting cold, though -- the high today is only supposed to be 11 (which we're already had in the wee hours of the morning and the temp is now falling), on its way to I think our first below-zero temperature of the season tonight. -3 is predicted, so we'll see whether we hit that or not.
Good luck to everyone today for getting the last minute reading/voting done, and good luck to all in the polls! :)

Date: 2011-12-05 05:21 pm (UTC)Today's been a clusterfuck of a disaster, tho. I have a bit under 22 hours to finish my text analysis take-home final, and I'd planned on spending most of the day on it, but I'm only now starting. Because my desktop computer (which has Word and my printer, both of which I desperately need access to for this) decided this morning that turning on or reacting at all when the power button was pushed was strictly optional.
And it sure didn't feel like taking the "work as usual" option.
NOW TO READ A BUNCH OF THINGS INTO A TEXT~
This is in no way made better by the fact that I've been feeling irrationally ignored lately; a mutual friend has been snapping my fiancé up for gaming and voicechat-while-gaming in the evenings, and I end up feeling left out. Joining them on the voicechat isn't really an option as mutual friend has like a bazillion friends and roommates in the same room joining in the conversation, which gives me panic attacks. FUN TIMES.
I swear I'm not feeling as whiny as this all makes it sound. They're two shit-raisins in an otherwise pretty decent life-cake.
no subject
Date: 2011-12-05 09:00 pm (UTC)I'm sorry you have shit-raisins, but I must admit I like this phrase. It's rather appropriate, considering this week's topic was about food.

Date: 2011-12-05 05:57 pm (UTC)My weekend consisted of a variety of things. My poor
My bus ticket drive passed the $3,000 mark in donations!
I wrote a new piece for the transit site I write for from time to time: http://trimetdiaries.com/2011/12/dear-type-iv/
I planned how awesome I'm going to feel in about a week and a half when my holiday break starts!
You know... the usual. Hope all are well.

Date: 2011-12-05 07:09 pm (UTC)I have a serious case of the post-vacay blues. Seriously. I had 11 straight days off and it was so relaxing yet very highly productive. It was awesome. And gave me a taste of something I really, really, really, really want badly. So there's lots of hard (but really enjoyable) work for me to do. Gotta keep the train rolling along and keep hammering away until I get what it is I want. But I'm excited. Very, very excited.
Though being back to the daily grind SUCKS. Big time. It's frustrating to come back from a vacation to find that a lot of things that should have been done in the office weren't done. It's frustrating that the work I manage to do on a day-to-day basis can't be absorbed and done by two other people in my absence. They tried, I'll give them that. But they came up way short so now I have a Tyranosaurus-sized pile of crap to dig myself out of. *sigh* All the more reason to go full steam ahead toward my dream/goal, yes?
Still working my way through the entries though I should (hopefully) be finished by the deadline. There is lots of really great stuff out there though. It's really great to read so many talented people!
I hope everybody is having a good (or as good as it can be) Monday!

Date: 2011-12-05 07:24 pm (UTC)I'm shocked you'll be able to finish reading... I'm impressed sweetheart! What with work piling up and whatnot. Nice job!
My work is giving me no time today. In fact, until after my vacation, it's going to be hell around these parts!

Date: 2011-12-05 09:17 pm (UTC)I did very little over the weekend, I have entered my winter slump.
Holiday shoping is done.
read vote post
I think all the errors are out of mine.
If anyone sees something list it so I can fix it.
I run them threw the checker at lest 2 times but that does not always do the best.
I've already gone farther then expected.
If I get voted out I do not expect to "play the home game" but anyone who wants to keep reading my junk is welcome to.
Winter slump.
Date: 2011-12-05 11:39 pm (UTC)I get bad 'cabin fever' even without snow. Long grey days make me slump too. Try putting bright lights where you sit, and walk outdoors for at least ten minutes a day, sit in sunlight, even if its through a window. The lack of light is what makes us feel so bad.
The reading this time has been hopeless due to not getting onto LJI. frustrating!
