Happy End of November! Did you write a novel? Did you grow a moustache? Did you have a turducken?
How was the month for you? Ready for December and the mad rush that comes from the "most wonderful time of the year"?
Ready for
alephz"s birthday cake? He should be bringing it by any time now!
Hopefully you are ready to post your entry: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/502415.html

Date: 2011-11-30 06:23 pm (UTC)I'm applying for the PhD program in Linguistics at The CUNY Graduate Center. I have an MA in Applied Linguisitcs and, since I work for CUNY, the university will pay for two classes per term.
How about you? What's your specialty?

Date: 2011-11-30 09:30 pm (UTC)I want to specialize in either language and technology or language planning and policy (what is taught, how we teach it, that sort of thing).
I;ve never taken the direct route to anything: in grad school, I was originally in the French Department, specializing in Indo-European and Romance Linguistics. Then I realized that there are no jobs in those fields.
So I switched to teaching ESL. I don't regret it for a minute.
