I promised everyone a surprise - and there it is on your front page this morning.

For 7 seasons, LJ Idol has been "word of mouth", friends telling friends and spreading the word. Starting in our 8th, and next-to-last, season - the good folks at LJ Spotlight have chosen to recognize us!

It may be late, but it's well welcomed and - from the talent that has been here year after year - well deserved.

I know this isn't a couple years ago on LJ, where a link would send thousands of people into a frenzy of joining up, but I'm glad that each and every one of you has decided to check out what that link was about.

You know, I was wondering whether LJI had ever been Spotlighted before! Congrats and welcome to those who are here because of that :D

We were scheduled to have one a couple seasons ago. Everything was in line for it to happen and then - it didn't.

No word, it just didn't happen.

So I contacted the person from LJ who handled Spotlight - who told me that not only had it been featured, but that people had wrote them to say "Thank You" for spotlighting our group.

This was news to me, following both potential spotlight groups (at the time) and having asked everyone if they saw something that I had missed.

So, I was nervous about this time - but LJ totally made good on it. Clearly the new person in charge of such things has their act together. (and I hope that they DO receive "thank you"s from the membership - in overwhelming Idol style!

Since I'm not actually using my own LJ at the moment, but I want to write this accomplishment down somewhere... I just wanted to note that I finished writing the first chapter of my novel, like, just now, a whole day ahead of my personal deadline. And emailed the as-yet-unread section to my boyfriend for feedback. I'm kind of stunned at this personal achievement. The chapter is nearly 11,000 words. I have never kept this amount of focus on a writing project in my entire life. And that's not even all of the words written so far for the novel. Total word count so far is about 21,500 words, amongst 5 additional chapters that all need to be lengthened and edited.

It kinda helps that a lot of the words in those later chapters were written for Idol prompts last season...

Hi all! Wow! The Spotlight is really exciting!

I hope all are not too grumbly about Monday being here. I know it was hard for me to get going this morning. It looks like i have a really busy work day ahead of me so not a lot of time to play here today. Sigh. Why must earning a living interfere with fun? Not fair!

I've wondered what it took to get on there. I guess a crazy-good idea, years of work and a rabidly dedicated fan base must be requirements :) Congrats Gary!

I know a few years ago, at least, they took suggestions/nominations. I have no idea what their acceptance criteria is, though! The only time I tried to get something on spotlight, it was blogathon (blogging for charity) and that got put up. I wonder how many things get nominated - or if they go looking for comms if nothing good is put forward. Hm!

Spotlight!!! I saw it when I logged in!!! To anyone who found us through Spotlight, welcome to the loony bin!green room! This is where we all hang out in between prompts. Sometimes I waltz in bearing virtual baked goods ;)

Since I can't go back to work for a bit, guess what? You're stuck with me :D

I have an appointment this afternoon that cannot be rescheduled. It is in the city. Considering I'm doubled over whenever I'm walking more than a few feet, getting there is going to be interesting.

Today I will be puttering around home trying to get various chores completed. Got to pack my hospital bag still (started it, though), maybe call a place or two, and get some tidying up completed.

You're having a baby! What an exciting time!

So, with my daughter, I got that crazy "got to pack, got to clean" urge just before 36 weeks and went ahead and threw my hospital bag in my trunk a month early. Good thing too. I was working up to pre-E and at my checkup later that week my midwife says "Your blood pressure is nuts...let's have a baby today!" But, after that packing urge, even though I was an hour from home, I was all prepared!

It was an induction, and totally textbook btw. I was going to say "uneventful" as if having a baby could *ever* be called uneventful, lol, but it turned out to be an awesome day.
