Results - Week 28

Wow. What a crazy ride!! It was a crazy end to a crazy week. I'm pretty sure I busted my F5 finger!!

If nothing else, an Idol poll keeps your blood pumping!!

This poll was one more decision, in a long line, that led us to this place. It's a path that goes back to Week 1 when contestants had to pick which entry they were going to write. That led them into tribes, which dictated who they competed against for the first part of the competition. This week, we went back and did the other side - again, deciding who they were going to be directly competing against.

Our Spirit, joeymichaels was faced with the decision of what to do with the two polls. He decided that one contestant would go from the smaller poll and two from the larger.

Again, which is something that will play itself out in the bigger picture of what we know as Season 7.

Next, it was the Jury's turn to have their say. They cast their votes for each group. Which means that this particular week there are two immunities at stake.

For the "Winding Up" group, they decided to continue what seems to be the "in" thing to do this week - and awarded it to joeymichaels! Congratulations.

In that case, it means that we are saying goodbye to two absolutely incredible new faces to Idol - who I hope will become old friends. Goodbye to serpentpixie and vaguelyclear.

For the "Here There Be Dragons" group, it was a close one, but the tie was eventually broken and the contestant receiving immunity this week is alephz. Congratulations.

He did turn out to need it this week. Since he is safe, the next lowest vote getter will be eliminated - unfortunately, that means that we are saying goodbye to the amazing and talented pixie117.

Thank you to all three of you for amazing runs this season and for continuing to delight us with your entries!! I hope that we will continue to see you for the duration of the competition in the Home Game (and around the Green Room), more to the point though, I look forward to hearing from you as part of the Jury helping to decide how the rest of this season will play out!!

I'm not at all surprised to be leaving this week. In fact, I've been expecting it for a few weeks now. Hence why I was able to get my farewell post (http://vaguelyclear.livejournal.com/281118.html) up so quickly ;)

I'll be honest, when the poll closed...I knew it would turn out that way. I'm not the least bit surprised because he certainly deserves it more than I do. Congratulations alephz for getting immunity. I actually agree with the jury this time around and almost sacrificed myself earlier this week considering who I was up against anyway.

And I just adored both vaguelyclear and serpentpixie. Such great people and talented writers.

serpentpixie - You've been on my flist since some time in the middle of the other two. It's been great getting to see you post more often because of the competition, and as you know, I especially loved your videos. I also really, really appreciated your words when you read how awful I felt in week 26. That meant SO much to me.

pixie117 You already know how much I love your writing, and it's been wonderful to see you dipping your foot into fiction and doing such a bang up job of it! You've also been so sweet and warm and welcoming, and were one of the first people I got to know here. serpentpixie You've fascinated me with your entries every week, and I've loved never knowing what to expect whenever I clicked on your entry for the week. You've experimented with so many interesting elements, and created amazing things from them. Truly, some of the most memorable entries of the season have been yours. I'm sad to see you go. I had to run away to dinner, but I have to say, holy crap, um, anyone who was talking to me on AIM knows I was about to pull a Katniss Everdeen over here and to think that I literally got through that round by the skin of two votes on TOP of not having to throw a giant hive of tracker jackers at anyone to save alephz in incredible. pixie117, good fucking game, I was not expecting to see you go, and was pretty certain it was down to me and Aleph.

I have enjoyed the three people leaving this week so much throughout the season -- you have all done some amazing pieces, and are just really cool people to boot. lol.

I have to give a special shout-out to serpentpxie, though, whose work was just often stunning in its *differentness* from the norm of Idol that it deserves a little special mention. The first vid/story of The Flyaways particularly stands out for me. Such a beautiful, wonderful creation.
