Green Room - Week 28 - Day 2

People ask me all the time, "How do you manage to deal with all of those creative people in one space!"

Now, most folks would tell you that the best way to deal with a individuals is the "stick and carrot" approach.

However, this is LJ. You start talking about hitting people with a stick and they will be more likely to start acting up. You mention the "carrot" and some of the same people will start making sexual comments, and others will be deeply upset, maybe even traumatized by hearing people talk about it!!

So instead, I use trap doors and monsters that hang out in the shadows, waiting for their chance to strike. Not in the competition itself, but around the homes of the actual contestants!!

It keeps them, relatively, in line. More or less. . . for the most part. . . on occasion. :)

OMG GREEN ROOM ON THE WEEKEND AGAIN!

I have written a home game entry but I want to run it past my husband before making it public and linking it to the home game post. I hope more people home game with me this week! Show Gary there was good reason to actually create the home game post!

So my weekend.

Last night, I met up with java_fiend for dinner and trust me, all the stupid issues through the week just went away. We talked a lot about Idol (our entries this week mainly). I am not sure what we are going to be talking about once the season is over!

He's coming by later today. He has an adventure planned, but then we will hopefully finally see Pirates and write a bit.

Oh and I probably should get ready and go into work for a few hours. Yes, on a Saturday *sigh*. Let's see if I actually do it.

I actually love looking at houses. It's why I enjoyed being a real estate agent for the short stint that I was one. I could do it all day.

Though I know not everyone shares in that weird little interest of mine.

You know, I've had 'so many creative people' in my personal space since college that I don't know what to do with groups of non-creative people any more. Last night a friend was discussing a musical he's writing and all I could think was how lucky I am to know so many people with so many ideas and outlets for their passions.

See, I am the opposite. I was married to an engineer and mostly, I was surrounded by technological geeks who were always full of logic...but not very creative. It used to bore me to get together with his friends because I would never be able to join in on their conversations on physics and differential equations...and not one person would want to discuss a book or a movie with me.

So I'd sit there staring blankly at them.

I realize I need creative people around me to be happy :)

So far, my weekend has consisted of a whole lot of sleep. I'm still not completely conscious, but if I don't make an effort to get up now, I'll be up until 3 in the morning again. I still might be up until 3 in the morning because the latest episode of Doctor Who is finally airing here in the States, and I know I'll be boggling over it endlessly.

Maybe I need tea. Maybe? I always need tea.

Ahhhh Saturday. Sitting here on a cold, drizzly morning with a cup of hot coffee and a warm snuggly, cuddly feline in my lap who (for a change) is not intent on making me bleed. Wooo Hoooo!

Heading over to pixie117's in a while where we will definitely be seeing Pirates today followed by... errr... other stuff. Some mindless fun and entertainment is also on the slate just because we need to goof off and be dorks for a bit. We also need to spend some time writing our entries for the week.

So it's going to be a busy but hopefully fun and relaxing weekend!!!

Years of teaching art has taught me that everyone has a creative person in them, but life or the educational system or their families or whatever have taught most people to ignore that part of their personality. Its really very easy to draw creativity out of somebody, if they're willing to roll with looking a little silly from time to time.

I believe what Joey said. I truly believe there IS a creative side TO EVERYONE.

Some people are just better at making the "voices in their head" (characters in their stories etc) shut up than I am. Sensible people with nice shrubbery and tidy kitchens.

While I am now hiding from the dishes and waltzing around on paper with a very interesting cast of characters..have I mentioned what I am writing?

Sometimes I actually envy people who know how to be sensible and non-creative.

And sometimes I know I could never live that way.

As a future teacher, I do plan to try to bring out the creative side of my future students.

1. View your entry itself, not your entire journal. (There's an option for it after you edit the entry, for example).
2. Copy the URL.
3. Go to the Home Game thread, click on Add Comment.
4. Link your comment using the standard HTML link code. For reference, that's:
(a href="http://YOUR.URL.HERE.com")Whatever text you like can go in this space (/a)
- Replace the parenthesis in step 4 with carrots (aka greater than/less than signs). I couldn't put them in myself up there because LJ would try to interpret them as HTML tags.

Well, I had to cancel a motorcycle trip today due to threat of rain.

...it's 4PM, and while cloudy, not a drop of actual rain has fallen. >:( I canceled a trip, I better see some actual rain out there, dammit!

So instead, I got my story up and posted! Now I don't have to try to do it from work tomorrow, with a thousand distractions. Maybe I should be doing this from home more often.
