Rather than bringing things back to (largely) the same focus group as has already spoken, bringing a wider audience into the discussion might be the way to go. Posting a link to that discussion, to get more people talking (friends of friends, friends of enemies, friends of giants, etc) is never a bad idea.

(Also, in fitting with the theme of my open topic entry, I found that the only way I could get started on this new challenge was to print off a copy of my must-redo-entry!)

I have to admit, my first reaction was to be a bit disheartened at having to rewrite, but now I'm getting more excited about the idea. (Well, actually, my first reaction was "hey, I almost called it!")

It's also really easy to feel sad when looking at an entry and thinking of terms such as least popular, least favorite which can so easily then morph into not as good, bad, worst, etc. I guess, to anyone else out there who got thinking the same stuff, I just want to say... don't. Some trios were really hard to rank and it was not a case of "this one is the worst" but "dammit, I love this one but I think I liked these other two even more!" Okay, so maybe my third-place entry was a pile of crap to some ;) But I know I'm probably not the only one out there who had a moment of sad, who "forgot" that one entry had to come last.

Well, of all my entries, the one that came last is probably the best one for me to actually get feedback on since it's the one I want to expand into a much longer story at some point anyway. Getting this type of feedback now can only improve what I write when I do make it longer. Though I have had moments of, "BAH! MAYBE I SHOULDN'T TURN IT INTO A NOVEL AFTER ALL, IT SUCKS!!!" ;)

I'll try and offer feedback for other people who ask in a similar fashion, if I can pinpoint anything I'd consider improving/commenting on/whathaveyou.

I'd really appreciate feedback on what works as well as what doesn't work. My ego is a little fragile right now :P

I go in today to get the stitches removed from my wisdom tooth surgery! Yayyyyy!!! And I'm watching Kung Fu Panda 2 with my friend Malin today as well. :) No popcorn for me, but I'll be okay.

Then tomorrow I'm going into Troy to visit a VERY long time and old friend from HS for breakfast, get my poor back and neck adjusted by my chiropractor, and watch Pirates of the Caribbean.. not only in 3D but in MOVING theatre seats with my mom and her friend Beth. THEN! It's off to Olive Garden, which is about one of the only foods I can eat yet (I'm not big on biting things like a sandwich, but I'm okay with chewing softer bite sized portions of stuff, and pasta is great for that).

THEN!!!

I spend the night at my mom's house, and go out with my friend Rachel for a mani/pedi and hang out with my friend Gwen for dinner and idle chats.

IT'S GONNA BE SO MUCH FUN!

Still in the middle of a crappy work work work work work week!
At least today, i get to work from home for a few hours. Then I'm sleeping at mom's house again tonight so that I can be in Brooklyn early tomorrow morning for Surrogate's Court. Earlier this week, I was stuck in Brooklyn divorce court for an ungodly amount of time, so I'm hoping I won't have a repeat performance.

I was surprised by the entry which wound up in last place from my trio! I'm open to suggestions/con-crit, though I haven't gotten around to posting an entry on my journal for that purpose just yet. I'll get there! At least that's what I keep telling myself about everything in life lately.

Work work busy.

I am totally scrapping my open topic and writing something new. I've basically said all there is to say about that story, there's no wiggle room to retell it. Tae-Kwon-Do Boy was a jerk, he wore a black belt to his first classes for a martial art, and the teacher declared, "If you're gonna wear a black belt, you get treated like one". Then we all got treated to a beatdown. End of the story, really.

So I think my attention span and everyone else's interest will be best served by something new, and I'm cooking up some ideas.

Sooo I finally got to St. Louis around 2 AM last night. By the time the rental car shuttle picked me up (took forever), I got a car with a key (the guy first sent me to a car with keyless start that still didn't work because the key got stolen...), and getting lost in the city I grew up in because my GPS is an ass...it was 4 am when I got to my cousins house where I was stopping off at since it's closer than my moms. Yikes. I just woke up and it's almost 11 am here.

So I haven't had a chance to solicit for feedback on my entry yet with a post. I'll need to get somewhere with accessible Internet for my laptop which may prove to be difficult. So with that in mind, I'm open to any and all concrit on my "Grip" entry. I'm really not that sensitive, I usually have someone do it for all my entries anyway and always find it helpful. So leave a comment or send me an email or message. It might be hard to really respond from my phone, but I'll do my best :)

Today is the first day of tech in my world which means I have a long weekend of work ahead of me (and am annoyed by Memorial Day on Monday). I'll be near my laptop for most of my waking hours Fri - Sun, if anyone gets bored feel free to poke me.

I've been seeing the various concrit posts but can't currently get my brain into that mode to offer anything of use, I'm hoping I'll have more to offer later today.

I am so wishing it was Friday today. Booo that it's not. I am looking forward to a 3-day weekend. Though, pixie117 is back in Missouri for the weekend so I'm sure it'll be a very mellow one... I have some projects that I can maybe finally kick my ass enough to start... things that have needed to be started for a while now. I also need to spend some time really looking for a way out of the Circle of Hell I'm currently occupying. Other than that and some quality time with the feline companion, I'm looking forward to some downtime.

This week I've been concentrating on non-idol (and non-LJ) things -- yes, they exist -- and fortunately got the major stuff done all right. Also the_dark_snack finished her job assignment with the Boss From Hell and we celebrated with a zoo day.

If I can manage, I'll try to look into the "rewrite advice" threads. Just personally glad I don't have be doing one of these myself. =)

Also am I a total freak of nature? I LOVE rewriting. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than making something better. And better again. And again... etc -- and I thrive on people going "no, doesn't work" "DEFINITELY NO" "What were you thinking" because at some point they'll go "Oh. That works. I like that. But this bit still fails..." and so on.
