Good evening.

Each contestant wrote three entries this week, and I know there was a lot of speculation on what that could possibly mean. What would happen, and how would the polls be set up?

People speculate. It's what they do. What is beyond speculation is that there are a heck of lot of great entries out there.

Were they expecting the Gallery? Maybe. Maybe not. :)

Were they expecting that for every writer, there was going to be an entry from each writer that people thought was a little bit better than the rest?
I'm sure they were, since that tends to happen when there are multiple entries in play.

Here is how this is going to work:

All Contestants and Jury Members (yes, Jury members are included in this bit of fun as well) need to read the entries http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/462769.html and email me at clauderainsrm@gmail.com with their ranked selections from each contestant.

The deadline to get your selections back to me is Wed May 25th at 8pm EDT. After which, we will see what there is to be seen, and consequences of your selections will be felt.

Yeah, seems like we'll be having a two-phase poll. Although I really like this from the perspective of a contestant: What better opportunity to find out what KIND of writing people like from you? What you do best and what's not working?

I think anyone who wrote a broad spectrum of material will really benefit the most from this.

(I wrote that "bread spectrum" at first. And I'm not even hungry... >_>)

Well, that depends how much of the results he shares with us. Will we know what order people ranked our entries? And what if all of our entries are brilliant? ;)

That's my guess - pitting each of the ranked entries against the other contestants' ranked entries :) Bottom one (or two?) from each of the three polls would be eliminated. This is my theory too :)

I've got an exceptionally busy week ahead of me. I'll try to read everything (may not be able to comment, so I apologize in advance if I can't!), but if we don't: can we send in a partial ballot for all the contestants we did get to read all the way through?

We're ranking each entry of every contestant, in other words? To take kittymichaels as an example, we'd rank, say, his Grip as #1, Turtles as #2, and Open as #3 in order from best to worst, in our own humble opinion?

But if there's a round two of the poll after these votes are in, as others have speculated above, I'd presume you can vote then. I'd still read ahead just in case ;)

So you read all the entries and pick your favorite group of entries but within that group of entries you also rank the entries? o_0 Do we need to rank all the entries or just our favorites?

Gary, totally unexpected, but I actually think this is a cool twist. For now. I'm sure I won't be saying that come Wednesday...crap, I'll be on a plane when the announcement is made...but at least I'll have my iPhone :D

On the one hand I'm thinking way to confuse everyone Gary! On the other I'm thinking way to make sure people read everything Gary! Given what I've read so far, it's going to be almost impossible to separate some people's entries though :o/
