Green Room - Week 26 - Day 1

Last night, we had results that shook Idol to its core: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/462139.html - well, let's be honest, everyvote is going to shake Idol to its core!! That's kind of what votes do!

Some previously "sure bets" though (including my early pick to make the finals) are out. Does this mean that the field is opening up? Or is it closing in favor of other directions? Time, you, and the voters, are going to have to figure that out.

Right now though, we have found our Top 21 of Season 7! Congratulations to everyone still in this particular fight!

I was totally prepared to complain about how evil you are making us write three entries this week - and for some, four; SO glad I wrote for Round Two last week :O - but I have a game plan now, so it's not so bad XD

Why does everyone keep saying we have to write three entries? Gary only said we had to use all three prompts, he didn't say we couldn't pepper them throughout one entry. Unless I'm missing something, which is why I'm poking you so you can point me to where I'm failing.

As stressful as it was, I did love this part of last season--trying to come up with multiple distinct entries was a challenge, but I always felt better when I stepped back and looked at what I accomplished. Good luck, writers!

I'm tired and grumpy. Or more like exhausted from another night of crappy sleep. I'm really not sure I can handle this week...my round two entry is almost complete, but I'll second guess it the entire time...and these 3 topics? Ouch. Very brutal.

I'm not gonna lie...I'm pretty whiny these days, but I'll keep it out of Idol. Life has generally just been beating the living crap out of me. Ugh. I need sleep.

I hope everyone else is having a good week though! I'll try to stop the whining :)

I spent much of my day planning out what I wanted to do with my entries this week. After the initial OMG THREE ENTRIES?! freak out, I think I'm pretty sorted. I've drafted my open topic entry, made a start on Grip, and have a vague idea for the turtle one. If all goes well, I'm hoping to knock out the three by Thursday (my time) at the latest ;) (this is what happens when I treat Idol like a full time job, lol).

Meanwhile, I figured since I had someone staying the night tonight, I'd use the opportunity to go see a movie, and went to see Fast & Furious 5. Watch out guys, this girl likes action movies... okay, so I totally have a crush on Paul Walker still, but that's besides the point. At least these movies also have a decent plot. :D

And on that note, I'm totally going to bed now. It's after 10:30pm!

Fast Five was way more entertaining than I thought it would be. It even made me want to go back and watch Tokyo Drift, which I had been boycotting on account of how they kept saying drifting is a new kind of racing WHEN IT'S CLEARLY NOT. Initial D was out in 1995, if nothing else. *nerd hat* And I like that they're moving the franchise over into being about more than just street racing. The movie podcast I'm on did a discussion of Fast Five a few weeks ago and it was just me and the guy on that one (there's usually four of us) which was just as well because I have LOTS OF FEELINGS about cars. LOTS.

This past week hubby and I walked from the US to Canada over the Rainbow Bridge at Niagara Falls. It was about two miles from our hotel to the far side of the bridge. We have now officially taken a plane to a foreign country, taken a boat, a train, a car, and gone on foot. I think all that is left is horseback!

So, yesterday, while the three new topics were being introduced, I was picking up props and printing off scripts because last night we started rehearsing for the summer play I'm directing. Four hour rehearsals for (most of) the rest of the summer, every day. In addition to work.

Fortunately, I have Friday off. Because my students are graduating and I have to plan and run Baccalaureate. That goes until about 11.

Fortunately, I also have Friday off.

Because I have to run graduation rehearsal starting at 7:30am. As soon as that is over, I have to participate in the graduation ceremony itself. As soon as that is over, I am chaperoning Project Grad, which goes until 7:30AM Sunday morning.

Three Topics. Yeah. Right.

I did that for one of the multiple topic entries last season. However, I will warn you that Gary might link them in completely different orders so it may work best if you do them as companion pieces as opposed to pieces in order.

Today was slammed here at work. I was so busy with family stuff last night that I missed the end of the poll. I looked at the results before bed, prepared for anything, was somewhat relieved and surprised to see I'd survived... and then saw that I had to write three entries for this week. I can't believe some of you have to write four!

Then again, according to Gary there was a week once where people had to write 15 or 16 entries... if that happens this year I'm going to have to drop out *LOL* I'm not sure how anyone could manage that.

I only have the vaguest idea for one of the topics so far. I really need to get moving if I'm going to do three entries plus everything else I have to do this week.

This is our first rehearsal day of the week, and we're already moving slowly and folks are unfocused. We did start at the nasty part for chair tracking which no one is excited about, but still. Today my job feels a lot like herding cats.

Also, I'm not sure about shaking folks to the core, perhaps just under their skin.
