Green Room - Week 12 - Day 7
Feb. 8th, 2011 12:37 amI'm looking over the polls and this week has every indication of a nail-biting down to the wire (and maybe even beyond if immunities are thrown into the mix) batch of crazy.
My own advice is to make sure to take the time to read and encourage other people to do so as well. Read. Comment and vote. It's the best of all possible worlds for your favorites! http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/424270.html
Which means that it's the best of all possible worlds for you so that the Idol Mob doesn't show up to see if you want to sleep with the fishes.
I have no idea who this Idol Mob might be, and imagine that there are probably some people out there with a lifestyle/fetish/whatever for actually sleeping with fishes. This is something completely different than you and your scaly friends!
I imagine though that the Idol Mob has old timey gangster hats and instead of tommy-guns carry laptops and iPads so they can get their entries in on time even if they are in the middle of whacking someone.
Which of course also sounds completely inappropriate.
Possibly inappropriate, but definitely something that Idol Mob will find interesting, is the other entries this week - http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/424567.html over in the last weeks of Second Chance-land.
Completely appropriate for any situation is a column from a really good RL friend of mine. Either that or the boyfriend of a really good RL friend of mine. Depending on which one of them I'm claiming as a friend at the moment. :)
Usually I don't hype this sort of thing here. But every once in awhile I make an exception. In this case, I just think it's really fun and I think a lot of people here will like it, and help it go viral or come down with some sort of virus or whatever it is that you kids do these days with your newfangled magick light boxes.
Geek Valentines Day cards - http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/42852/inspire-geek-love-with-these-hilarious-geek-valentines/
Because like it or not, it's coming. So link it all over the place out there in cyber-land.
Read and vote first, obviously. But if you have a little extra time, go do that too. :)

Date: 2011-02-08 05:36 am (UTC)ETA: Indeed. Which is nice, since I've had the day from hell. Got better once I got home, though. Much love for the wifelet who produced Taco Bell and a hot bath.

Date: 2011-02-08 06:13 am (UTC)I have a question for people re: comments. This week the comments I've been getting have related to the form I chose to submit rather than content (ie subject matter). I'm usually more of a content commenter, unless the writing is really striking enough for me to comment on. What are other people's preferences in terms of both leaving and receiving comments on entries?
Reason I prefer content comments more (both leaving and receiving) is I feel like it's a better way to have conversations, get to know people, and make friends.

Date: 2011-02-08 09:14 am (UTC)A couple of people on my FL related stories about how they broke their foot and didn't realize it for days. I'm really hoping that isn't my case, because if it is...

Date: 2011-02-08 09:45 am (UTC)Days? Um... when I was about 9, I fractured my foot by using gym bars and landing incorrectly. I cried and was in pain but because I was a bit of a cry baby back then, and my reaction wasn't that terrible, my parents didn't take me to get x-rayed for a week or so!

Date: 2011-02-08 02:41 pm (UTC)Still waiting for some news about grandpa. It seems he was doing ok last night, but as long as he has all those tubes down his throat, I'm uncomfortable.
We are going to the chocolate shop this morning to pick out favors for the upcoming baptism of my son and nephew :)
then I have work to do and want to get through reading tribes 3 and 4.

Date: 2011-02-08 02:52 pm (UTC)I stayed over at Case de Java's place while my apartment gets fumigated. He was so nice and even made me a lunch to bring to work. He's so sweet :)
I discovered that I can wake up at 4 am. I actually felt pretty good too. That's scary because I'm not a morning person. I think my body just mistook sleeping for napping and 4 am as just staying up late since I'm a night owl. Oh well, I'm awake and at work early enough to goof off a bit before the boss comes in.
And I'm straightening my hair at work. I've never done that before...
Hope everyone has a good day!

Date: 2011-02-08 02:59 pm (UTC)Now that I've joined in the stress of seeing how the vote turns out for me, I've started wondering, if/when I get eliminated, could I become a character in another contestant's entries? That's one way to stay in the game.
Well, at least that sounded like a good idea in my head...

Date: 2011-02-08 03:39 pm (UTC)Tribe three's poll is killing me! There's 6 votes between bottom and top, so it feels like it could go anywhere at this point. *nervous* Lots of good entries out there this week, I like all the directions people ran with the topic :)

Date: 2011-02-08 04:47 pm (UTC)See, I have a rule that I don't look at the polls until I vote in the polls. This weekend was busy so I'm in more of a time crunch about reading and voting than usual (I have about 20 entries left). So I see all of this angst but don't know if it applies to me! I could break my rule - no one would know - but eh. I think I'll stay in ignorant bliss for a while longer.
In other news today feels like the first day of rehearsal all over again, since the official meet and greet with the staff is today. I'm ready for all of the extra folks to go away so we can just dig in.

Date: 2011-02-08 05:10 pm (UTC)These polls *will* be the death of me one of these days. I'm totally clenched-up about this one. It's so nasty, nasty, nasty tight. Ugh.
Still working my way through the entries. I have some of tribes 3 & 4 to go. And there is a lot of good stuff out there. So I figure I'll read more and maybe actually do a little work... the kind the powers that be pay me for... to try and take my mind of these polls. Ugh and Bleh.
Hope everybody is having a good day!

Date: 2011-02-08 07:21 pm (UTC)In regards to the polls, you know, its a good sign when its close like this. Assuming that people are actually reading and that a chunk of votes aren't just "hey friends register and vote for me so I don't get eliminated," the close polls suggest that everyone had something worthwhile to offer this week.
Basically, I'm saying we're all awesome and whomever gets eliminated is still awesome.
Edited to Add: Whether you are voting or not, you owe it to yourself to read Alephz's entry (http://alephz.livejournal.com/462267.html), especially for his drawings of Rattsu.

Date: 2011-02-08 10:03 pm (UTC)Valentine's doesn't hold the horror it once did for me. It used to be the day I married and abusive bastard but I've made it into the day I love myself. I'm going to eat chocolate, have decadent lunch and dinner, eat my dessert first, and do things I really enjoy. I'm going to pamper and primp myself, maybe treat myself to a manicure and a hair cut.
I am going to love the fact that I'm alive and that there are at least a few others who give a damn about that.
I am going to make cookies the cats don't ruin (for those of you keeping track, I was going to send Gary cookies for the holidays. Thus far I've burnt three batches, the cats have eaten the butter for two, and the milk was rancid when I went to make the next batch. My husband ate the next ones, thinking they were treats for work, and Dee's brother shared out the next with the kids. This weekend there WILL be cookies for Gary and nothing short of an earthquake or being wiped off the planet will stop me.)

Date: 2011-02-08 10:37 pm (UTC)Valentine's Day just isn't as big a deal here as it is over there, I think. Plus I've never really been interested (that probably sounds like I just lacked admirers, and there could be some truth to that too LOL)
I like the idea of making it a day to take care of yourself though. I just looked at the calendar and realised it's on a Monday this year, so both children will be elsewhere for several hours - I should possibly take a leaf out of your book...
