Green Room - Week 12 - Day 3
Feb. 4th, 2011 12:03 amWelcome to another batch of joyless inanity, just like Grandma used to bake!
We were going to add some peanut butter chips, but given the allergies out there figured that would bring more lawsuits than LOLs.
Not that the lawsuit wouldn't have been funny. I'm sure it would have.
But there are lots of things that are funny, or even fun. You find them in the littlest events and the secret spots mixed into all of the chaos. That garden in the middle of the city. That hallway no one ever seems to go down where you can take a breather. That eye in the center of the storm, where everything is peaceful, for a moment, before all hell breaks loose again.
Maybe that last one isn't a good example. After all, there are plenty of people who like the storm itself.
Those people are weirdos.
It's OK. They know they are.
It doesn't have to be peanut butter chips. It can be stepping outside the usual routine and saying hello to someone you might have missed before. Or stepping out of the shadows to say something.
Which is always pretty dramatic. Especially if people don't know that you are in the room. What kind of creepy person just hangs out in the darkest corner of the room, blending in, waiting for their opportunity to step out and spook the hell out of unsuspecting people anyway???
Geez. Announce yourself! Or at least tell me how you got a key to this place!! That's kind of weird now that I stop and think about it.
***
It's Friday. The day before the storm.
Things are getting tight over in Second Chance http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/422091.html so if you want to help decide who will be given the opportunity to join everyone in the main event, you should probably head on over there and make your voice heard.
Of course there is always the fun of the Topic post - http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/422293.html
There was no Work Room this week, mostly due to the fact that I spent a good part of the week with a malfunctioning keyboard. You would be surprised at how many words have a "v" in them - and trying to find a way to cut and paste the majority of words that I wanted to say from other sources, without being able to type the actual word... yeah, that was a lot of "fun". Not the kind that I would recommend.
I appreciate the patience. It will be back next week.
Until then - I know there were a couple people bouncing ideas at the end of the last Green Room. There is certainly nothing against discussing, gasp, *writing*, in the Green Room.
This is your space after all. It can be as elevated as you want it to be, as base, or anything/everything in between!
You create your own fun! You can help make your own experience what you want it to be! Get to it!!

Date: 2011-02-04 05:17 am (UTC)That was random. Sorry. I'm not able to do as much in the GR as I would like since I basically get to work and sleep. That's it. Oh and squeeze an entry in at the last minute if I'm lucky...
Hope more people stop by! If newbies who I haven't talked to see this, hit me up with a comment and I promise to talk back sooner or later! Can't promise it'll be coherent...
Oldies (I mean vets and folks I've talked to) can always hit me up too. I like that as well :)
Night folks!

I wonder if Gary's cryptic reference to the Idol first he's looking forward to unleashing from yesterday's green room is the same thing.

Date: 2011-02-04 05:28 am (UTC)I'm trying to make my experience one in which I accomplish what I must without losing my patience:)
I think we should paint the green room. Maybe blue with stars on the walls?
Any other ideas?
Maybe that is the big surprise. Gary is going to change the green room into the Rainbow room...with dancing and music and peanut less food:)

Date: 2011-02-04 09:16 am (UTC)I find that unlikely, since it would be kind of lame to let some people pass through a gatekeeper round with a bye. Of course, that has happened before (a gatekeeper round before byes were exhausted) so one never knows.
There's also some hints about meeting somebody you might have missed before. This perhaps suggests that the tribes will be voting for each other. For example, Tribe #1 voting for Tribe #3, etc.
There was a vote like that last season, but not using four tribes.
It could also be that SCI contestants are the only votes for the main LJI game. Of course, this could mean that people who had alts in SCI suddenly have an advantage over people who don't. This would surprise me for a variety of reasons, but its definitely something that hasn't happened before.
It could also be the case that each of our individual fates is tied to another contestants - like your final votes will be your own votes plus a randomly chosen second candidates' votes.
Anyhow, I'm positive that when we see the twist, we'll all go "Oh, that's what Gary meant in the February 4th Green Room." Either that or we'll go "Oh, Gary completely misled us, the tricky guy!"

Date: 2011-02-04 10:27 am (UTC)Are you trying to get me to flush out my alts in Second Chance Idol? I fear that one or both of them will be voted out this week because I had such limited time to write their entries this week :P
Also, I'm committing Idol suicide with my main game entry this week by posting a sonnet when I probably should have just taken a bye. I suppose I could rescind it and write something else now I'm home, but I kind of liked that it had a few layers to it. I just hope people don't just do a surface level reading of it.

Date: 2011-02-04 02:13 pm (UTC)How do you feel about different forms of entries in the competition? Do you have a preferred "type"? Do you like people to stick to what they're good at? Or do you like to see when competitors have a range of abilities?
I've mostly written nonfic this season, a few different flavours, but have also tried a screenplay, straight fiction, and this week, poetry. I'm not sure if this is shooting myself in the foot, though I think I have vaguely done better in the polls with the screenplay and fiction. I don't know if it's just because I write that better than nonfic, though, or if it's because I'm trying something different.

Date: 2011-02-04 03:14 pm (UTC)All of these references to mysterious figures leaping from the shadows, eyes of the storm, all hell breaking loose... yeah, I'm more than a wee bit on edge. Though I do love storms... one of my biggest dreams is to ride out with some chasers and hunt down some big tornadoes!!!
One of the things that made Idol so great for me last season was getting to know some really fantastic people. This community is filled with them. There are definitely some people I'm getting to know a bit that I'm quite fond of and enjoy reading. So I really encourage everybody to say "HI" to somebody you maybe haven't before... you never know, you might make a really great new friend! :-)

Date: 2011-02-04 05:13 pm (UTC)And you should add that you never know, you might even get a girlfriend (or boyfriend in my case) ;)
Lots of great folks. I've met some newbies already that I really enjoy talking to and glad I stepped up (or they did) and said "hi"
