As our break time starts winding down, New Year celebrations start winding up - and things are looking really tight over at http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/406872.html, I am reminded that what is to come in this "new year" is going to be shaped by how we end this one.

Not just in life. Although if you want to take "life lessons" from that - feel free.

Also - "Enjoy Every Sandwich". Zevon said it. I Believe it. Nuff said.

More to the point in our own Idol experience, this poll might not be to eliminate someone. But in it's own way, it will have the ability to shake up this competition. Not that some major shake ups aren't already going to happen over the next week. Because, oh yeah, they really are!! :)

But something tells me that when we look back over the course of the season, standing in the winner's circle, that this weeks events are going to factor in. (Maybe they benefited, and maybe they just overcame some adversity affiliated with it!)

Which is just another way of saying to make sure to read the entries and vote!!

At work, as usual.

But we decided not to come tomorrow, since everything is being locked down starting 1 p.m., even though we should.

And for us in Russia it's only the start of the winter vacation. We have days off till January 10th with the first working day on the 11th. :-)


So with work and NY party at work I regretfully had no time to write an entry for the free topic even though I'll try to read all of those that did. It's always toughest during a vacation :D

We're baking up a storm here since we have a party to go to on Saturday. I finally finished all the presents yesterday so I'm getting a chance to relax a bit. Other than that we're keeping pretty quiet here at Byrd Manor. :)

Happy Birthday! Must be kind of an exciting time of year for a birthday. I feel like my party every year would end up lumped in with an NYE party and involve a lot more booze and a lot fewer trips to Dino Land. I stand by Dino Land though, if you guys need any ideas.

I work today and tomorrow, but we're off at 2 tomorrow and then we have Monday off, so it's not so bad. Just enough time to finish doing all my organizing for the new year. OH MY GOD. SO MUCH TO DO.

My last couple days are busy. Today (which is the 30th) was spent catching up with my husband's Aunt & Uncle, whom took us to the tree dedicated to my youngest son's great, great grandfather, whom died in WWI, and my son was named after. Then they gave us his war medals to pass on to him when he's older :O After that we went back to visit my family and buy a suitcase to fit excessively large Christmas presents to take back home.

Tomorrow we are visiting a friend of my husband's from high school, maybe getting my eldest son's 4 year immunisations, and we have a NYE party to go to with some awesome friends who've planned a Firefly marathon. I've only seen the series once when I first met my husband, so that should be fun.

If I have time, I might try to draft a rather hard email that I've decided I probably have to write. :/

I've got a to-do list here with 31 checkboxes and only 15 of them checked. By the time I go to bed I need to check another three (and checking them without doing the stuff doesn't count and is cheating) just because of their time-sensitive nature (comic pages going up tomorrow) plus I'd like to get a piece of art I inked colored plus maybe write another chapter of what was my NaNo novel in November.

So normal lazy day for me. ;)

Better get cracking on stuff now. Already watched Ally McBeal with my breakfast and with lunch so that's like an hour and half of my day gone to recreation when I should be working. If I don't get started on coloring tomorrow's comic pages before the fiancé gets up I'm sure he'll have some choice words for me.

Yes! My NaNo novel is starting to poke at me, and I haven't touched it in weeks... The night before last I felt like my brain could attempt it, but my arthritis was acting up and my hands wouldn't cooperate. Oh well. One of these days.

I'm at work today, trying to cram in a few last tasks for the week. We're doing our annual NYE party tomorrow. Today we're going to move all the furniture in the basement to the garage to make room for the band. Should be a blast!

All in all, I think I'm really happy to say goodbye to 2010. Come on, 2011!

We get another 4-day weekend in honor of the holiday, so I'm off work until Monday. I'm currently nibbling on an "everything" bagel from Panera, and watching The Cheyenne Social Club with the hubby while he winds down for bed (he works nights).

Tomorrow evening, minikin and family will be over to celebrate NYE with us, and to exchange Christmas presents since they were away visiting family over Christmas.

Happy birthday everyone! Wow, today is a popular day to be born apparently! It's kinda like my birthday (where at least two idolers would get birthday wishes if the season started earlier).

At work, it's a slow week with very few people in. That explains how I found time to write an entry after all. I just wrote it up on my phone and no one was the wiser because no one is here!

I'm sooooo excited for NYE with java_fiend! it's also our Christmas, but I'm anxiously waiting for a night of board games, movies and home made sushi with him and his sister and her boyfriend (maybe others). Nice and low key :)

I haven't been in Idol mode for the past week or so, and I haven't had time to catch the Green Room posts - I've missed them! Today is the 31st here, which is my Mum's birthday, my parents' wedding anniversary, and NYE. So, the parents, sister, brother-in-law, and I are going out for lunch (Yum Cha!), and then I'm going on to my sister's place to have a games night and to watch the fireworks. The best part about the latter is that her apartment is close enough to Sydney Harbor Bridge to be able to watch the fireworks from her balcony! None of this battling the crowds to find a patch of grass to sit on nonsense ;D
