Is anyone signing up for that National Authors Movement: Beyond Language Arts group? From what little I know of them they seem to have more outreach programs during the holidays.

I did not NaNo this year nor, sadly, have I ever. I've never had a long-running plot that I thought would be good to kill myself over.

However, on this day, I have a much better thing than NaNo, in that it is my birthday and, so, I get to eat tons of ice cream, which is a lot like winning.

I'm being very effective these last two days or so. :) Lots of art done yesterday. Today I'm going to finish NaNo (in the sense of getting 50k), do some art, do my Flash assignment that I've been neglecting...

Morning. My work assignment got canceled today. Not pleased about that! Need $ to pay for replacement of broken stuff! It was my microwave and my garage door! The door is split. Lucky we didn't have people, pets or cars in there when it began to come apart. Worker guys come tomorrow to install the new one. AW

In other news, I am dead last in my poll. Sad day. But I am happy with what I wrote, so that's all that matters.

If any of you pray or send good thoughts or energy, Malia is a 9-year-old girl (my friend's neice) currently nearing the end of a year long battle with Stage IV Wilm's (kidney) cancer. Pray, send energy/thoughts that her pain and nausea are controlled and that she is not afraid. Also for her parents, aunt, and younger sisters (who are 7 and 3) as they try to cope as well.

Stunned November is nearly over and we're still in the 80s. I shouldn't be, I've lived here 32 years, but it surprises me every single time. Thankfully we're getting a cold front tomorrow.

Still doing the project from hell. It'll be awesome when it's done, but wow is it taking forever. Meanwhile, three projects are stacked in the corner of my work table waiting to be started (a small part of one is due on the 6th, the second is due in January, and the third is due in March). I'm trying to swing taking some real time off at the end of December, but it depends on how much I can get done between now and then.

Oh, and when I checked last night I was tied for last in my tribe. Hmm. Still not going to my friends list. I'm going to try to see how far I can get without relying on their support. It may be just this week, but we'll see. I'm also trying NOT to go and refresh the poll, but we all know I'm going to as soon as I finish this comment. lol.

Gee, I wouldn't mind taking an additional ten degrees off of your hands. It's actually not freezing today (in the 50s) but it's damp, which is my least favorite weather.

Just 1385 more words on NaNo and I'll be at 50K! Wooo! Of course, the story is nowhere near done -- at best, I'm two-thirds of the way through. It might be more like halfway. My goal for the spring is to finish at least one of my NaNo novels, of which I now have three.

Now that NaNo is ending, I'll finally have time to read more Idol entries! I've been failing pretty hardcore at that, and that's no good at all.

I am SEVERELY freaking out right now.

Last monday I was in class and used my USB flash drive to save the two printouts I was submitting. Well, I left it in the computer. This had all my essays for my class on Tuesday, so I called them and they said they had it.

Well the "green" USB drive I described was not the right one. They said "give it a couple days". Yesterday, it's still not back. I'm screwed.

Both of these essays need to be submitted on the 2nd. I have physical copies but they're over 2 weeks old, all the changes I made were on the flash drive, AND all my resources are on that drive as well.

FUCK. :\

I've thought about doing NaNo once or twice, but I'm just way too busy, especially this month, where I already had a challenge due and am participating in Idol. There are about ten billion fanfic challenges going on for December, too, and I have no idea how people are doing those. More power to those who can, though!

I'm excited by the polls! All the tight races mean it can still be anyone's game, which is way more interesting than wide gaps between tribe members. I finished reading and voting yesterday, so now I'm waiting to see how it all turns out, on the edge of my seat :)

I haven't properly participated in Nano since I was in sixth form. I think because I write for so many hours each day anyway, the idea of doing even more hours just for a word count doesn't really appeal. Although... I have never counted the number of words I write across an average month - maybe I should. LOL.

Today I have a snow day. I have just been into town to get some Christmas shopping done, and add to my somewhat sparse winter wardrobe. Now I'm sitting at my desk, downloading an episode of ER, eating spicy pumpkin soup and studiously ignoring all the laundry that needs doing. Later I have cadets, and I get to spend the next few days preparing uniform for the National Drill competition this weekend, which is kind of a Big Deal.

I'm exhausted!! I was watching a tv show that I was really interested in last night and somehow passed out three-quarters of the way in. The hubby leaned over and coaxed me into taking off my glasses before shutting off the tv. I think I grumbled at him.

Right now my son is reviewing his coloring book, which he was scribbling in yesterday. He keeps finding the pictures he drew on and shouting out "Sal did that!!" I guess he's proud of himself. It's too cute.

I'm back to hoping that the baby shows up, but luckily my induction is only four days away now, so it's starting to feel more manageable.

I'm doing pretty well today. Hung out with some friends last night after class. Met one of said friends for breakfast this morning. Now on my way into work.

Have come to important decision not to go to NY this weekend for a wedding. It's just too much for me to do. I've got 2 final projects to complete this weekend for classes, I've got band practice, I've got to do laundry (seriously, this part is getting urgent), my minister's installation is on Sunday, my friends' art show is on Friday, and I really don't have much money to spare on travel. It's the right decision for me, and it will make me feel much less crazy overwhelmed, but the other part of my brain is guilt-tripping me about social obligations.

Bah.
