A couple more goodbyes were posted last night - http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/371123.html For those curious about where they stand in the backlog - Remaining at the moment: 11 with tags (obviously the ones that require the least about of tracking down), 4 with partial tags, 2 without tags and 3 with all entries friends locked. So we're getting there! Slowly.

I've read all but one entry now, so I decided to go ahead and vote since it was pretty clear how I was rating things. So many amazing pieces, though, and I will read the last entry I have to read tomorrow. I do think that from this week's entries, it is still anyone's game.

As for the goodbyes that are left... people should've just indexed all their entries like I did (http://comedychick.livejournal.com/419531.html). ;)

I'm having a better evening today than I was yesterday, so that's something. Mostly I am happy because I'm finally going to be able to go and collect both my old and new iMacs after dinner. Then the setting up & transferring begins!

Yeah, I'm glad I've indexed mine, I went back and removed all the posts where I just talked about the competition, and left those that were actual entries or potentials.

An Index is a cool idea... but might require more thought and organization than I can handle at the moment. However, I did go through and do a proper tagging of things--making sure that my "lj idol" and "lj idol entries" tags were put to use. And well, considering how rotten I am at keeping up with tagging, that's enough of a feat for today.

I'm bad at tagging in my personal LJ. (Heck, lately I'm bad at *posting* in my personal LJ!!) So I can understand where they might not have done it.

I figure the people who did, are probably the ones who would be more likely to want me to ramble on for a couple of minutes about them. Maybe something in there will even make sense! When you are trying to catch up, having an index like that makes life so much easier!!

Tonight I'm going to read people's stuff!

At least that is what I'm hoping for. I planned to do it yesterday, but I got stuck reading 'The Boys' by Garth Ennis all evening. It was just impossible to put down.

EDIT: Also, we have sun today, the first time after a week of rain. There is currently a large bird (Björktrast) all fluffed up on my lawn, sunning herself.

The A/C in our office never came back on after we lost power yesterday afternoon.

Let it be known that an un-air-conditioned office in Texas in the middle of summer is less than savory.

But good news! Carl Hiassen has a new book coming out, and Skink will be involved!

I just got home close to 3 AM last night from California (thanks to delays and whatnot). Had an absolutely wonderful time there. java_fiend was a wonderful tour guide and as he mentioned yesterday, we did tons and tons of fun things. It was a wonderful weekend! He really is as nice in person as he is online by the way! He showed me around to Hungtington Beach, Balboa (where I got to play in the water! Yay!) and we had sushi and cheesecake. It was sooooo much fun! Oh, and of course, we had Starbucks a few times while I was with him. Good stuff.

So my first meeting with an Idoler went well. It is a totally cool experience. I hope to meet a few more :)

So I should hear back from them later this week on that job. I also have another interview locally tomorrow. So we shall see how everything goes!

Still pregnant, so I think it timely to state here what I did on my LJ. Should I survive the vote this week (which I am by no means taking for granted!), then I'll still make deadline for whatever comes next, even if it means dictating an entry to my husband between contractions.

And the cat has brought in a live bird for the third time in a row. Once more, we have saved it from a crunchy end, but I wonder whether it's the same one again and again and just how much longer it's going to survive the Jaws of Death.
