It seems more than silly. These days, airlines seem to be bending over backwards NOT to let people fly. Which is why I was most surprised that Air New Zealand would not only let me fly before 35 weeks without a letter (and will after that with one), but would let me do it as the sole caregiver to four children aged 7 and under. I've heard stories about people wanting to fly with twin toddlers being turned down at check in despite having been assured it would be OK, so it is something I fret about.

Yeah, I must say I'm surprised with Air New Zealand there! But maybe that's just because I'm used to what I get with Air Asia since I don't really fly with anyone else right now - they're the cheapest airline I have access to. I suspect they might've changed the rules after a woman gave birth on one of their flights, though, unless she was less than 35 weeks pregnant.
