It's one of those weeks that you know are coming, but you still aren't quite prepared for.

Someone who has been a solid fan favorite, a veteran who by any standard could have been called one of the most popular people/"biggest names" in the game and a "surprise hit" who came out of nowhere to steal some hearts -


all gone this week.


The jury gave immunity to lawchicky, giving her another week in the game, and thus helping to place more people onto the jury for the coming weeks:

I'm definitely a fan.

This week has been "weird" for voting and commenting though. Someone pointed out that it's finals in a lot of colleges, so that might count for it. I attribute the usual LJ summer slowdown starting early. . . maybe.

Not sure. I think that it shows just how important it is to make *sure* that people know just how much you love an entry, and get them to love it too.

Not "mindless pimping" but getting out the word about just how good someone is. Because right now, the difference between the "person at the top" and the "person at the bottom" is one of the smallest that I've ever seen. This is anyone's ball game - and as we've seen, real life has been *brutal*.

I find it ironic that I barely looked at the polls this week. I've been so busy with everything, including finals, that it hadn't crossed my mind but twice, and each time I was at the bottom, so I posted an entry to ask people to vote.

But moreso, I think it was a good time to go out. I was very happy with my entry, and I hate begging for votes like I did last week. There are amazing writers in this competition, and I honestly never felt up to par to them, so I am grateful to even have come this far.

This was the first week I was put on a rec list, and it made me happy to know that I have come so far in this competition, and finally got recommended. I hope I was someone's favorite.

Since I'm still catching up on my general remarks I will just say how delighted I was that you made it this far.

There are so many different styles and different voices in something like this - but you are a "good old fashioned" journaler with a sincerity that leaps from the page.

Yeah, the competition is fierce right now, but I think your voice has definitely improved over the course of the season and I think it's fair to say that even though you might have been only on one "official" rec list, I've heard your name bantered around during the course of the season as someone who has been a surprise "find". Hopefully more people let you know just how much they were enjoying your work, in ways other than votes. :)

Thank you, that's good to hear. I had never felt confident in my writing, but this competition has done just that. I honestly think this is an awesome thing to try new things, say what you need to say, and do your OWN thing.

There's something raw and authentic in your voice that makes it really appealing. I think your style reminds me more of boxsofrain than anyone else remaining in the competition. I'm glad that you made it this far!

Haha! Boxsofrain was the reason I entered the competition.

The way I write is how I speak...I write what I know, how I know. If I can't read it and say it aloud without it sounding right, I delete it and write it again.

Wow. Kevin texted me the results, and I was still kind of surprised to read them myself. I'm especially bummed to say goodbye to emo_snal, because I love learning about bees and boats, and because I had the pleasure of drinking beer with him.

At this point its crazy to say goodbye to anyone though! We've been playing together for so long now... It's weird to lose someone I've been reading for 7 months.

I did not expect emo_snal to be gone this week! I mean, based on last time I looked at the polls. All of these people have, of course, been amazing writers, proving themselves time and time again.

crimsonplum, I've loved reading you from week to week. I think you're one of the best 'pure' writers in this competition, if that makes sense. You've had such an interesting take on so many topics, and you put them into breathtaking language, over and over. I'm glad I got introduced to your writing through LJ Idol.

I am truly overwhelmed by all the kind words. To be honest, I had a feeling this was my week to go, despite writing an entry I was really proud of. Sometimes you just know. :)

I have so much I want to say that I probably just need to do a goodbye entry. And if so, you'll see it in a green room soon. But the short version is:

I now have several stories that I really want to expand on. To that end, before May 15, I will be entering at least one of them into the Writer's Digest competition. :)

I have thoroughly enjoyed the wide variety of really fantastic writing here.

And most importantly, I have made friends with several truly wonderful people that also just happen to be amazing writers.

So all in all? I'm definitely not leaving empty-handed.
