Green Room - Week 23 - Day 5
Apr. 21st, 2010 08:17 amWhen I logged on this morning there was a clown on my home page.
Was the clown on *your* home page too or was he just stalking me?
Should I expect him to next show up on another site, and then another, until he eventually just reaches out of the screen and kills me????
If it isn't a viral killer clown set out on our personal destruction - what was LJ thinking putting that up there??? Probably trying to scare people into buying an anti-clown gift!! ;)
***
So, what has you spooked today? What has you delighted? What is the cheese on your crackers?
And most of all - have you submitted your entry yet: The topic thread: http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/330871.html
The Home Game thread: http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/331761.html
Have you *read* the entries that have been submitted thus far??? Are any of them that cheese? :)

Date: 2010-04-21 12:33 pm (UTC)Also, I never EVER want to come home, which might not be a problem since the flights are so screwed up right now!
ETA: This is the first time I've been first! Now I know why it pays to be several time zones ahead of most constestants :)

Date: 2010-04-21 12:36 pm (UTC)What spooked me today was thinking my 2nd alarm had already gone off (late night last night, decided to sleep in) so I jumped up and started going through my morning routine, trying to figure out why my dad wasn't back yet from next door. When I got back to my room I realized it was because I woke up 10 minutes after my first alarm and 30 minutes before my second alarm. Yeah. Up now.
I've been reading, but I know I need to catch up. I may do that while I finish waking up before I get to work.
And I think I might have found the cheese on my cracker. Thus why I'm running on about 5 hours of sleep. Went out last night so I could see him before I leave for my trip on Friday. :)

Date: 2010-04-21 12:45 pm (UTC)Yesterday I started a fire! :D I'm proud of myself because it ran hot and took hours to stop smoking. :) Good start for the season. I'll have to poke it again tomorrow because it's supposed to shower on Sunday and Monday and I want to try and keep the wood hot. We can only burn in my city on Tuesday and Thursday (but they're trying to ban it altogether, pfft).
Today! I go to the store, buy a tiller and get my yard all situated with fertilizer. It's supposed to shower later in the day. I don't mind tilling and fertilizing in the rain, but it needs to be done today so I can get the grass seed down by Saturday for the rain showers to make it take hold.
Other than that, living as cheaply as possible. My unemployment check never came... I'll wait until Friday and if it still doesn't come, I'll call the help hotline on Monday and make sure everything's in order. Every paperwork I've gotten to date has just been reiterating that everything's in order, but you never know...
Oh, and sometime today I have to conglomerate a list of all the gear I need off ICC25 as part of my 2 week try-out in the new guild I just joined.
Bah.
Happy Hump Day Everyone. :)

Date: 2010-04-21 12:50 pm (UTC)Yesterday I cleaned up the front and side yards -- pulled weeds, dug out dandelions, de-thatched the hostas. I hate that the front yard is mostly shade because nothing grows there except daffodils, the two azaela bushes, and the rhododendron. For some reason I now want to pretty it up!

Date: 2010-04-21 12:54 pm (UTC)Right now my boss is singing loudly and off-key and it's HORRIFIC. She does this every morning and it's awful. While I generally don't mind working for her, this is one thing I will not miss at all when I finally move.
I've got to go conduct a training seminar in a short while. I'd rather just stay here and do my regular work, but c'est la vie.
I got my entry posted this morning before I left my house, so I'm happy about that. Now I guess I can do some reading... well, not *now* because *now* I have to do other stuff. But, soon.

From:What has me delighted...
Date: 2010-04-21 01:33 pm (UTC)"I normally reach for a poem called "The Unclaimed," by Nikky Finney, a young African-American woman who evokes the spirit of all the women in her past "whose names do not ripple in neon lights or whose distinctiveness has yet to be embedded on printed paper." These women, the poet tells us, were never allowed time to pamper themselves in front of mirrors or even time to cry. They were women who sang over stovetops and washtubs; scribbled poems on bits of paper and dinner napkins-- women who acted out the drama of their lives unsung and forgotten. And so she concludes:
for all that you were
for all that you always wanted to be
each time i sign my name
know that it is for a thousand like you
who could not hold a pen
but who instead held me
and rocked me gently
to the creative rhythms
i now live by"

Date: 2010-04-21 01:34 pm (UTC)It's finals week, though, so I can be forgiven. Of course, my final that was supposed to be tomorrow was pushed back to Tuesday. Like, double-you tee eff. I just want to get it done with!

Date: 2010-04-21 01:36 pm (UTC)Hubby and I went to see a stage production of Mary Poppins last night up in Cincinnati. It was REALLY good - there were a few new songs, and the woman who played Mary (who had also played Mary Poppins in a London production) was superb. The sets were also very cool, and at the end Mary actually "flew" (via wire of course) out over the audience, from center stage up to one of the back corner box seats!!
On the negative side, my car tried to eat me (or maybe hug me) last night, when the power seat fucked up and wouldn't stop moving forward!! I almost couldn't get out, my fat legs were squeezed so hard against the dash! My right knee feels slightly bruised, but that's about it. Fortunately, I succeeded in moving the seat back, or else I wouldn't have been able to drive it today. *phew*
Oh - and Happy Administrative Professional's Day, guys and gals!

Date: 2010-04-21 02:34 pm (UTC)And last night, I was talking to a friend on the phone when he asked to tell him something random. I told him I was once attacked by a baboon and he thought I was screwing with him because his random story also happens to involve being attacked by a baboon. Crazy world, isn't it?
I need to get my entry done seriously. Real life has really been hard on me. Let's hope today is different than the rest of the week.

Date: 2010-04-21 03:34 pm (UTC)OK, folks, if you need proof that someone, somewhere is having more of a bad day than you - here's a direct quote from an e-mail trail I saw this morning:
"Sorry I did not get back to you yesterday but Beelzebub and the four horsemen of the apocalypse paid us a visit, and everything else went out the window."
May the fleas of a thousand camels infect the Horsemen, so that they may not visit your door!
Or, you know, have a good day, everyone.

Date: 2010-04-21 04:18 pm (UTC)It has been a hellishly busy last couple of days! It's good in that it's job security. It's bad in that it's... hellishly busy. But I've missed this joint!
What has me spooked? That I won't finish my entry in time.
What has me delighted? A dark cherry mocha frapuccino.
What is the cheese on my cracker? Swiss, thanks.
Hope everybody is having a fantastic day!!!

The "cheese" came from between my toes, though, so I really suggest putting that cracker down. I thought it would be funny, I never imagined someone would try and eat one.

Home game entry was submitted...sort of. If I were still around, I'd probably have written about warts.
I was up to date on reading as of last night. Obviously, I still have some reading to do. :)
